People Running Front Solid Engine Mounts Please read....
markp replied to Shaggy's topic in Engine Bay
I agree.... it's obviously not a one off problem so tell us who it is! -
Completely agree with that! I don't know why more places don't use them. Just wanted to say as well that my friend called up chipsaway last week because someone put a scratch (only about 10cm long) in his door. They quoted £170 and the scratch wasn't even that deep- seemed expensive to me!

If the paint has cracked like you say I doubt Dentmaster would be able to sort it. Lets see some pics!!! £250 isn't a bad price if they do the job properly because as you say they will have to blend into other panels

This is definately the place. Have a look through the Wiki as I think there is advice for people thinking of buying a Corrado. here it is.... http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... rrado_Info

10 minutes to get the oil up to 90 sounds about right. Although the water temp shouldn't take that long to move. It could be that the temp sender switch is on it's way out (just a guess). It's not expensive to replace.

really don't think you will have any joy with Tesco. Especially as it happened when the store was closed. Also it is not quite the same as the business park example above as it would have been possible to sue the park's maintenance company for neglegence as they obviously didn't do enough to secure the gate.

doh! not good news. To be honest £250 doesn't sound too bad. I reckon if you got a replacement door it would cost about £500 to fit and respray. Obviously a complete respray is gonna cost over a grand without even sorting the dent out. Feel for you mate. I had a similar thing with my car- another car drove into it and dented the door and drove off. Fortunately my cloud had a silver lining. Do you have protected no claims? If so make a claim. The bodyshop basically said it needed a new door and as such the quote came to about £1200, with that ammount of money I was able to get the whole car sprayed. You could always try your luck.

He might be able to do a deal for cash if you ask nicely ;-)

not sure if you were joking or not but my dad is a leather merchant, he has got a warehouse near Tower Bridge. http://www.walterreginald.com Give him a call or just pop into his office if you need a few skins. Ask for Malcolm on 02074812233.

bloody hell that is rediculous!! Have a look around breakers yards, you should be able to pick up a glass passat roof or a corrado roof for about £60
-
An SP30 should only increase your insurance by about £50, it shouldn't be much more than that because pretty much everyone has got 1 nowadays. If I remember correctly for an SP50 I think they charge 10

Something doesn't sound right with those boost readings. I think for american cars it should be reading around 60 on idle and a max reading of 171 definately indicates a problem. Check for boost leaks, I think there is a how to in the wiki.... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... boost+leak

I don't think you have done it correctly. I think you have to push the button again after the engine is started to get to correct reading. It should be around 400 at idle. Just copied this out of the WIKI..... Start Motor Move the MFA selector to "2" Press and hold the MFA end button (keep holding) Stop motor Start Motor Release the MFA end button. Press the MFA End button one time. For UK cars, you should now see 450-470 (warm engine) fluctuating with idle. Go run your car!!! 3rd and 4th gear to REDLINE. Carefully note the highest #'s you've got. A pullied charger should not make less than 11.6psi, and even so, thats weak. A Stock charger should make ~~11psi in perfect shape! USA EURO Hg(#'s of boost/vacuum) Comments 15 200 -23.7 55 400 -17.8 90 600 -11.9 127 800 -5.9 148 1000 0 (Atmosphere- ala no boost, charger is bypassed) 172 1200 2.9 psi (Your charger is dead or big boost leak) 192 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is about dead or big boost leak) 211 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger needs new apex strips or big boost leak) 228 1800 11.6 psi (Great for stock pulley, Probably needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) 242 2000 14.5 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on stock charger) 255 2200 17.4 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger, hold on to your ass fast!!) 255 and up folks need to be careful with fueling, as the programming maps end at about 242 on the ecu Dynotuning, and air/fuel/egt gauge, and custom chip recommended

If you want to keep it standard then all you need to do is a standard service. If its not broken don't fix it!

Just a quick update..... Didn't want to say anything sooner in case I jinxed it! Changed over the blue temp sensor and the car is running much better now. The idle problems have gone away and I just got 18mpg out of a refill, which is about right considering all the short journeys I have been doing. I haven't had that sort of mpg for ages, even when on motorways. I am going to take it up to my mates garage over weekend to plug it in to his VAG-COM to see if all is well. Fingers crossed it's sorted.

headlight will be a problem but the fogs don't matter

I have been thinking about getting some RH cups. I have seen a set 15"x8J with et 45 and was wondering if they would fit without adapters and without arch work? Also what size tyre would I need? I'm sure there have been similar questions but I just wanted to check before I spent all my cash. Many thanks

Actually I don't think I would want them as clear that as I haven't got inpros, I think I prefer the look of the ones in Kev's thread just can't be ar$ed to get them shipped over from the states.
-
I would be interested if they are clear as my fogs look a bit yellow indicators aren't as expensive from vw. I think they are about £25 + VAT each. I think the new ones are clearer as well.

Honda HRV then?
-
Toyota Prado (or whatever its called- the 4wd one)
-
hehe thanks for the tip

Actually I have only just changed my front engine mount so this could have caused the problem (I suppose the others could be on there way out as they would have been same age). Any idea which mount normally causes the problem? I did check the cables and they seemed fine so I just left them. I will take another look when I get a chance.
-
I did think this but the thing thats strange is it gets better as the car warms up. Which I assume would be the opposite if it was the blue sensor?! I have got the parts anyway so I will see if it makes a difference. Before I fitted the Lambda I was almost certain that would fix it because all symptoms pointed to it (spitting flames, high co, fuel consumption, and generally running poorly) but obviously I had no luck. I will double check the cables again just in case that is the problem.
