  1. Forgot i posted so long ago....will get round to popping in one of these days Dan
  2. Wow....it's Dan the nuts and bolts man.....saw this sitting in your driveway last week. Are you making it your mission to own just about every model of Dub?
  3. I went to this, but wasn't impressed with being stuck in the traffic jam. Took 2 hours to drive 3 miles once i hit Newquay.
  4. Your Welcome.....Let me know how you get on.
  5. Difficult to know without actually looking at the car myself of course. Have known these kind of faults to occur with a faulty ignition switch in the past.
  6. I would carefully examine the wires behind the steering shroud if i were you. That puff of smoke could have been a wire shorting against the steering column. Really needs investigating before you end up having a fire in the car.
  7. Sounds to me as if your stereo is wired in to the wrong curcuit behind the dash. It should be wired to :- blue/white = Speed sensor feed (if needed) brown/red = Ignition live (this wire can be traced back to the ignition switch) black = +12v to aerial amplifier (switched feed from head unit) grey/blue = illumination feed (to turn on head unit illumination when the lights are switched on) red/white = permanent live brown = earth If it is wired up correctly the you could have a faulty ignition switch.
  8. They were around the £100 mark from the stealers when i checked 6 months ago.
  9. You are indeed correct. I replaced my heater matrix just over a week ago and also came across that spare plug. I knew it wasn't used because i carefully labelled everything else. If i'de spotted this thread sooner you would have known sooner.
  10. My opinion is to fix it, but before you do, get someone who knows about cars to check all the faults the garage has listed just to make sure they weren't trying to screw you over. Apart from the brake pipe(s), which costs next to nothing if you do it yourself, all the other parts can be sourced secondhand for i reckon around £100 or less. To me the car looks (from the photos)to be too good to break.
  11. Doesn't seem to be a common problem. Have you checked to make sure that the electrical connector on the back of the speedo is plugged in all the way and correctly?
  12. Try doing a compression test on each cylinder. Do you have any steam (white smoke) coming from the exhaust at all? VR6 engines are renowned for blowing head gaskets so be prepared to bite the financial bullet.
  13. Pull it away from the car a section at a time. There are square tabs moulded into the spoiler that enable the whole thing to clip into place.
  14. It clips into the body...so just give it a tug and it should come out eventually.
  15. Just make sure she didn't take the picture so she could stick pins in it
  16. It's the heater vent duct that's in the way. I could unbolt the duct and take it out but i don't fancy having hot air blasting away behind the dash. That's not going to do my stereo much good me thinks. I think i'll have to see if i can get a facia plate and put up with the head unit sticking out a little.
  17. It's usually easier if you take the glove box and the seedo surround out so you can get at both sides to feed the cables through while pushing the unit back in. Having said that.....the glove box is a right :censored: to get in and out as well.
  18. Well....i treated myself to a nice DVD player a while back and today thought seeing as i already had most of the dash panels removed that i would fit the head unit. Nothing is ever that simple though is it? The head unit i have is much bigger (front to back) than my last headunit and will not go in the slot all the way. Only way i can see of making it fit is to permanently remove the centre vent duct behind the dash and cut off the small metal upright at the back of the stereo slot.....pffffft. Has anyone else come across this problem or have any other ideas other than chopping away at the centre air ducting?
  19. After spending two weeks driving around in a Skoda Felicia my Corrado feels and looks like a frackin Rolls Royce.
  20. Have you checked up behind the dash on the passenger side above the heater motor to see if it's wet up there? Easiest way is to take the glove box out, and also the vent tube, then feel around above the motor/air inlet area to see if the sound deadening foam is wet.
  21. 1....it's handling 2....it's looks 3....simple to repair (thankfully) 4....cheap parts (thankfully) I ought to make a list of what i hate about the Corrado but i don't want to upset all you VW lovers.
  22. Either locate the leak and sort it.....or buy a bilge pump
  23. I realise they are not staggering quality but it's better than an old leaky 18 year old one :) (he says trying to find a solid piece of wood to touch).
  24. My passenger side is wet all the way to the rear seat well. From what i could see...the water leaks in around the outside of the heater motor air inlet and runs along the heater duct. Then it drips on to the centre tunnel. Water also seems to leak down the inside edges of the air inlet and some of that water will make it's way along the inside of the heater duct and end up in the bottom of the matrix housing. Some water will also end up running staright down into the fan. I can't understand why VW didn't at least put a lip on the air inlet duct where it passes through the bulk head/skuttle. Very poor design.
