  1. did you have the german plates on it; I have been contemplating purchasing them but our kid bro reckons its a £30 fine if pulled over :mad2:. I think thats bad as they are still very readable
  2. :D Nice car. Looks good and clean. Could I ask how much they charged for the respray. I am wanting to do my C
  3. Thanks for this link; even with my lack of mechanical know how this sounds as if I could get my hands dirty. Will use the original C as a guinee pig first :) .
  4. You are correct on username. He owns http://www.depthofshine.co.uk/ and its his car. Must admit seeing it and the quality of shine and tidiness makes me want to take a drive up there and let him have a go at shining up the VRT :notworthy: Think I will pay him a visit next year in readiness for the show season
  5. Spotted 2 Corrados yesterday. Red L reg possible VR6 driving down Whitworth road in Swindon, turn left onto Cheney Manor road towards Co-op I was two cars infront and went straight over the roundabout. Second spot was at the Rally Day at Castle Coombe; on returning to carpark (field on other side of road) at end of day Aqua blue Corrado VR6 (standard looking) L166RYX i think parked two rows behind.
  6. Lovely car matey :notworthy: , and to think its your own work. Wish I had the knowledge. Did you ever feel like giving in. Hopefully next years meets we can compare cars :salute:
  7. Brill work can't wait to see the finished project. I think what you do is wonderful and I only wish I had a small amount of your technical ability. You defo deserve a :notworthy: will keep looking up this thread
  8. Got another yesterday  . On my way to the Rally day at Castle Coombe, filled car up at Wootton Bassett and the lady behind the counter asked what it was and told me it was a lovely looking car and the colour suited it well :salute:
  9. Got my first today. :D Postman knocked on door to deliver parcel and asked how I'd managed to find two cars in the same colour and that he'd always loved Corrado's. Had quick chat with him about the VRT 4x4 as the original is in garage having water pump fitted and ISV cleaned. As he left I heard him say "BEAUTIFUL" Parcel delivered TALEX speed detector !!!!!!...............Now of to meet Tim at the Phirm and talk Brakes
  10. I am spending a day just going through this forum and looking at the members gallery and I would like to congratulate you on owning such a nice car  I have to admit blackberry is the colour to have, but it doesn't half show the stone chips, my original one is so in need of a respray :brickwall: probably done it earlier if the VRT hadn't tempted me
  11. Never a truer word; which could be good for Vauxhall designers as in 30 years when all Astra mk2 are square metal masses we will be able to mavel at the Daewoo to remind us what they looked like :norty:
  12. Like the elephant quote, and I totally agree they did miss the boat, to be honest I would probably still buy the Golf over the Scirocco
  13. I am in that boat too. Original Corrado bought without seeing, it came in as a part-ex at a Renault dealership were my bro worked. First Mk2 Golf GTI 8v I went to see it came back with me then I started to notice the flaws. Mk2 16v bought with a towbar on the back; but it was a 3door on a J plate intention was to restore her but it was sold on to a mate that proper killed her (J115PPE RIP) but on the 8v 16v front and I am not technical or mechanical; just on driving I much preffered the 8v; that said the VR is ssssoooooooo good but if you need the reliability then they do try your patience (especially the bloody stalling :censored: )
  14. This has been a good read. Putting in my two pence worth; and staying true to the Corrado at least our car has a unique shape. Yes it might have been put together using other platforms; but name any main stream car that hasn't been crossed decked. God even some exotica use common parts on them. I don't think the corsa has ever look good infact I don't think i have ever gone WOW on any Vauxhall some have got a "thats nice". Then on the VAG front we have our beloved, any of the Audi RSs', R8, we have the best CC in the EOS, Veyron, where are Vauxhalls supercars?. Yes we pay a premium for this pleasure but lets have a count of MK2 Golfs still active as opposed to MK2 Astras. As for our engine, it is just lazy but sounds oh so nice :luvlove:
  15. Brill thread, will watch with interest and envy. :notworthy:
  16. Where about are the sensors. My original Corrado ABS light stays on when first using it but after about 15 mins I can switch off and on and it will stay off. Have to make sure its warmed up before I take it for MOT
  17. I can recommend these totally. I bought my first set on ebay from a guy that was making them in germany, it can be quite fiddly getting the retaining pin out. When I bought the new corrado the same door went so I looked for the german guy but couldn't trace. Found the above link and bought 2 (1 for each door) fitted one to the door that was knackered and its a good fit and fix. Just PM dave16v and see if he has any, good instructions come with it and even I managed it and I am not mechminded :norty: ..................................
  18. Please watch out - with the isv, when you take it out and look at the valve from teh side, the SMALL gap is meant to close when the ISV is actuated, so dont poke your srewdriver in there and try and force it, it wont go the other way! Best best is to get a cotton bud with some oil on it and press on the flap to gain some friction to open it then drop some oil down it. HTH. Ah.. thanks for pointing that out.... i didnt know. :salute:[/quote:255igs73] And I thank you both, have just come of working nights if I get up in time with the weather looking good might have a go today
  19. Dare I say Skooby Doo.......... or early EVO both turbo practical, probably expensive to maintain but should bring a smile. Cossie or Williams Clio or 172 all fun and easy on the wallet. Alfa 156 V6 24V has the Corrado VR6 covered in speed and imo doesn't look to bad either
  20. Thanks for the info will try and get round to that next week and see if it works :notworthy:
  21. I am not that mechanically minded are all these easy to do i.e removal & refitting. What am I looking for and what cleaning fluid if any would I use. Excuse my ignorance what is the dashpot
  22. Yep probably agree with that; although I think I would only go for the original one, new shape not that good :nono:
  23. Hya, I would be interested if you have anymore. If not I would like my name added the next time that you are making them.
  24. No chance of getting an S2 for 5k. I was looking at them as I think they are brill but they hold their price so well. With 5k I'd throw in the two Skodas, I own a Octavia VRS and its very practical, very reliable, and the dealers ( well Fish Brothers Swindon) are fantastic. With 500 pounds chip upgrade gives it some serious torque. Or the little Fabia VRS same quality but with the added advantage of MPG.
  25. Thought I'd add to this thread could the ECU relay also cause the dreaded Corrado stalling when coming to a stop (starts straight away) and off I go. I have changed all the usual suspects MAF, Camshaft sensor, Idle valve sensor. I know there are various links to this problem and when I had the engine rebuilt the car drove brill with no stalling for a good year but it has developed again. I thou am not selling :luvlove: it too much and can live with its slight misdemeanour.
