If i was you mate I would rebuild the whole lot, to a higher than standard spec. Not for more power but for strength and longevity. If I was back at the point when I had a fekked engine, thats what I would do the 2nd time around. I would love to have an engine that you pretty much knew you could nail, day in day out, without killing it really quickly (like i do with ALL my engines). I'd quite like to do it for the alfa as a long term project. Get a new block and slowly over a couple of years, do the research and buy the right bits, and build up a super strong engine for the inevitable day when mine goes pop! :) Imagine how cool it would be to be able to ring the nuts of ya motor all the time without too much risk of engine death! Heaven :)

No kidding mate. And that's my problem with him. He is a 'product' owned by McLaren. Not cool.

Why does Kimi get described as the boring Finn? He's the only driver who actually has a personality and goes out drinking and womanising! All the others are just driving robots.

Will engine run w/o dash connections? doing heater matrix

Ring problems eh? ;) -
Yep you need to try some new cars mate. Go for some test drives. Put a suit on and pretend to be rich :) Then ignore your head and the evil german-loving folk on here, and get yaself down the Alfa dealer! ;)

VW's 'R' branding just went down in my estimation!

Kev, London isn't JoBerg ya know mate! It's still perfectly possible to spend time in London without getting carjacked!! :) -
Tis a nice car mate. And I can totally empathise with your reasons for swapping, including the bargain price :) However..... Looks like a Rado? Hmmm. Looks a touch more like a renault megane to me dude! :( Sorry :(

Top Gear... back Sunday night with 'that' Golf!

I thought that was an excellent episode. The Golf was hideous. So bloody fugly - looked like something out of buck rogers crossed with a sinclair C5. Nice engine though :) That Aston N24 made me laugh. The ride looked exactly the same as my Rado on H&R RSS Clubsports :) Alex has all that to come! :) Personally I want the Lambo. What a car. -
Don't be so gay mate :) What the mrs doesn't know, the mrs won't worry about :)
-
Bloody Bender :) Nice car Stanners. You going down the 'chip' shop soon? ;)
-
yeah i'm not sure about red interiors. grey and black is the way forward :)
-
ooh thats a tasty car mate. I wanted a black one, but after a couple of years of cleaning a bleedin black corrado every few days i just couldn't be bothered! And i reckon that silver does show the lines of the cars off best. Thats a lot of car for fek all money dude - buy it! :)

I bought my GTA from a dealer mate - they have done about 1k worth of work free of charge, out of good faith, without touching the warranty which is up to the amount i paid for the car! Should cover about 3 engines i reckon ;) Now thats service, and thats how to buy an Alfa. Sod buying privately! :)

Oi Oi :) Personally mate I would avoid any of the fancy gearbox efforts. I've never tried one but i've heard a few things on the forums. And in general i prefer a proper stick shift to any other type of transmission. It's all about control for me. It's a good day for your thread dude - i've always not really liked the 'normal' 156s. But today i've been running around in a 1.9 TD 156 courtesy car (there's a clue about alfa reliabilty in this sentance!) and I have to say it was really nice. I'm shocked. I liked a bleedin diesel car! It was good to feel the chassis without the GTAs harder spring and damper set up. Really nicely balanced, and very comfortable compared to mine. Very refined engine, especially so at motorway speeds. Pretty quick and absolutely stonking pick-up at 2000 revs. Sorry, way off topic here. This isn't a general 'I love alfas' thread! :) My Bro,had a 156 2.5 V6 for a while too. Really nice car. But i'd avoid the wierd gearbox mate. Now then, GTV? Now you're talking! I was reading about a 3.4 litre twin turbo example yesterday! I do like the GTV - really good looking car, but fek all use to me with no seats for the off-spring. They feel a touch 'baggier' than mine, a bit more like the Rado chassis. Really good fun to drive, especially with the 3.0/3.2 engines. And like you say, really cheap now. Or what about a 3.0 V6 Alfa 75? Rear wheel drive fun for a few hundred quid! I fancy one for stripping out and ragging on track. Saw one for 150 quid the other day! :) Do it mate. Get a GTV!!

Thats about a weeks worth of problems with an Alfa! :)
-
I agree with gayspires - mk4 r32s are a bloody con. Can't believe how expensive they are. Guess that's good if you own one, but not for buying. Not too sure about a vortech or z engineering charger adding 150bhp either? More like 80 isn't it?
-
No I don't know where I got it from either - probably some crap I read on the internet eh? ;)
-
VW? Not cheap though!
-
I got done by a mobile with no signage the other day. 96 mph :( My day in court looms :( I've heard stuff about signs within a certain distance, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Gav and Toad are getting married? I always thought there was something there :)
-
Yeah as far as i know if you have one type, you can't use the other type, end of. Different altogether aren't they? Where are you mate? Try a dub breakers - 40 quid or so guranteed .
-
Makes you sound very manly mate ;)
-
I'll help you beat him if/when the time comes mate :) Still need to take out my frustrations on someone at being ripped off by ze germans for a 4mo engine :(
-
Not a bleedin clue mate, but I like ya sig pic/avatar thingy :) Is that a Sport Quattro short wheelbase jobbie? Hard to tell from that angel.
