double-6s replied to KADVR6's topic in Members Gallery
Well done mate. Thats a very healthy bunch of ponies you've got under your bonnet now! :) Still want that door? Its yours if you do. (will cost you a drive of the charged beast though!) :) -
I thought Vege had ceased trading? Probably wrong though........

Is it worth chipping? Or cheapest mod 4 a little more power?
double-6s replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in Engine Bay
No not rubbish mate - not as good as the supersprint obviously, but they're 600 notes! That is the one most of the folk on here have. Offer him 120 quid. The noise is amazing mate! Also get a solid front engine mount. -

Get a 6 branch exhaust mani mate - I'm not sure of the actual gains other than making it sound like a complete beast! It does sound like the b*stard love child of a vr6 and a scooby! My blue one sounds as flat as a pancake after driving the black one (with the mani). Quality :) And apparently a big bore throttle body makes it sound even better (mine should be here soon!) If you shop around plugs can be had for a bit over 2 quid each. -
try lancaster insurance mate. for some reason they seem to be very cheap for rado vr's. nissan micra 1.0 = 430 quid or so corrado vr6 = 380 quid! both with zero no claims. worth a try.

Definately. My rear end is very well worn bush-wise (!!!!!) :)
-
lol :) Like the warmed up comment! I think it all just depends how your car is set up mate. I'm not dissagreeing or anything. But on the above mentioned slip road, I can hang the rear out whilst melting the front tyres for about half the slip road!
-
I do my best every time I come onto the A27 westbound at the Hove junction. Its quite easy to get the back end out to be honest - with provocation of course.
-
Brilliant. What a bunch of complete dumb-a*ses :)

Standard speedline alloys, referb or buy 17s?
double-6s replied to -Neil-'s topic in General Car Chat
My tyres always go down when I've got the speedlines on as well. Even with new tyres etc. I think they must become porous over the years? -
Sounds like your cable is stretched just enough to be a problem. Try closing the open side and trying again. If that doesn't work try grabbing the end inside the car with a pair of pliers and get someone else to open the bonnet outside.

Oh actually, after a quick google, it looks like LPG is higher octane than unleaded. 104 octane or so? It says you can safely raise the compression ratio too cos of the higher octane fuel :) Hmmm..........
-
I think you get a bit less as there's less energy in LPG? Probably wrong though.....
-
What a muppet! 18k and selling! :)
-
Pah! I do 30k a year in mine! :) I reckon you'd probably only save 800 to 1000 quid in the first year mate. How much is a conversion? 2 grand or so?

What VW's have you owned and how old are you??
double-6s replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
I'm 35 (mental age of 12) VWs I've had include: Bay window camper (psychadelic paint job inc. magic mushrooms and a pyramid with an eye - 'don't touch the brown acid man!') Mk2 Golf 1.8 Driver - Red (could take a ragging) Still alive! Mk2 Golf GTi 16v - Red (turned out to be some b*stard creation that started life as an 8v - pile of junk but went ok) Dead Mk3 Golf VR6 - Pepper Red (40k miles in a year all at max attack, then it died) Type 25 2 litre twin carb camper LHD - Brown (excellent van - went all over europe with no problems) Still alive! Corrado VR6 - Black (currently on 2nd engine and a few mods) Current car :) Corrado VR6 - Moonlight Blue Pearl (totally standard - very cheap!) Current car :) I've also had countless other sheds, but the thread asked about VWs ;) The moral of he story? Almost every car I've ever owned has been way more reliable than the Rados, but way less fun! :) -
Just sold a VR engine at the petrol station! :)
double-6s replied to double-6s's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah you did mate! Wonders will never cease ;) Give me a day or two mate - this does give me an ideal opportunity to put my new engine in the blue one, which is what I should really do as its a much better car. But I just love my old black heap of crap to be honest - I've really been trying to hate it over the last few days, but it's got me! :) -

Indeed - thats covered every penny the car owed me! :) So I'm tempted to sell the panels and just keep the rest of it as a spare part donor car. -

 (it's not my new engine! its from the spare rado) -
Was just filling up at the garage and a lorry driver approached me asking if the corrado was my car. Turns out he's got a Mk2 he wants to put a VR lump in. Engine, box, drive shafts, etc - SOLD! :) Thats what I call an easy sale!
-
Older than me. Younger than the mrs. ha ha ha ha ha ha :)
-
 You're a dirty old dog mate :) (fair play)
