well, as things turns out, it does work now, although I am scared of using it, as I don't want to end up with my window half winded down in this season. Walesy, I was thinking of taking the whole door card off, for three reasons: 1. I could lube the whole edge of the window with silicone 2. I could dynamat the door 3. I could fit my new component speakers. I am taking out the seats and a lot of other stuff this christmas to vacuum, clean and put in some new cables for my stereo system. Hopefully it's not the ECU, although I wouldn't mind, as that would give me an excuse to buy a late-spec one with one-touch operation. 2nd hand would probably be a good thing. I'll go down to the stealers tomorrow, just to see what it would cost me. The Norwegian company representing VW and Audi, is called Møller, and we have something we call the Møller law of multiplication. Whatever you expect to pay for a part, multiply it with ten, and you get what they charge. I.e. when I was going to buy a new ISV for my car, I thought: "that can't cost more than... let's say £30. It's just a valve". I ended up in clinical shock and the price of £300. So I figured that was a waste of money, and invested the 30 quid in a bottle of carb cleaner and a six pack of stella.

I will... how much is the driver side one from the stealers? And how much is the motor, if that's the thing. Oh, and are there any threads on how to take off the door cards?
-
Yes, it does, from both switches actually. That's what makes me think it might be the motor, I can operate the passenger side window with the switch on the driver's side, if you understand what I mean.
-
Are they any good then? I really can't decide if I like them or not. Could you pm some pictures of yours? And are they better than standard, lightwise?
-
thanks, I did look into that knowledge base, it's a great idea! It just needs a bit more knowledge, and articles, to be perfect. Really great concept. I guess I could paint my headlights, perhaps even tint the inner glass a wee bit ?
-
hehe, yeah, I guess, but then again, the lights look soo cool with the xenon bulbs and all. I'm a sucker for those

Walesy, no, no noise at all. Even without my trousers on, it will not work. Starting to piss me off, and on top of all that, I got my wiener stuck in the zipper afterwards. Haha, didn't even see the pants comment before I wrote mine. but, yeah, I've tried it alright.

BigTartanJudge, i love you man :) Mine is kinda falling off these days, so I hope I'll get yours before I have to steer with a wrench. Pints are actually so expensive, we usually have a little vorspiel to get good'n drunk before we hit the town. Perhaps we'll drink one beer just to have something to talk over, but getting drunk on the town in Oslo is as sensible as having a trash party at your own house. And the beer tastes terrible too.

First of all, the driver side (LHD) window on my rado has always been very slow going up (usually down too, but not as much). After washing my car here the other day, it got stuck totally. I thought it was just frozen (even though I put some silicone on the edges to prevent it), so I just left it. Now I can't make it work whatsoever! Could it be the switch, the engine, or what? And is the window lifter engine hard to replace, and what would it cost from the stealers / used ? '89 rado g60 btw.
-
Ok, I saw this corrado with rallye headlights, and I just fell for it. How do I fit them, and how difficult is it? Surely it must give the car better lights, with xenon and everything?
-
sounds neat.. how would I get the lens off then?
-
:D Yeah, I'm just kidding around man... It still pisses me off tho, it's like bloody impossible to get good cars into Norway. I'm heading for the US in 2007, so I'll go down to Germany then and get me a minter vr, pick up a blower kit from you guys, and cruise route 66 till the sun goes down..... mmmm nice winter dream.
-
oh, shut your hole. we got the idea from you guys. Welfare state my @$$
-
washed and vacuumed it, and then some fool stomped in with dirrty shoes and watched me cry for my nice original corrado mats.

triggermyson, there are some pretty wild taxation on car imports. It's about £80 a kilo for the weight of the car, about £90 a horsepower, and then there's something for the volume of the engine as well. Oh, and there's a 25 per cent VAT on the price of the car as well.

VEEDUBBED, it won't happen until this summer anyways, and if it is such a big job as described here, I might just swap my 130k miles g60 engine into a newer one, which came with the car (supposedly it has 230bhp, but then again, what g60 doesn't ;) ). Are there any differences between lhd and rhd g60 engines by the way?
-
isn't the g60 engine, without the blower, pretty much the one that sits in the mk2 golf gti 8v? I know they did something subtle with it to make it hold together with the blowers extra punch, but I don't think it was that radical. So I guess w/o the charger, perhaps 115-120 bhp?
-
catch_twotwo, my friend also has that problem. Mine moves quite a bit, or at least to in the middle between too cold and too hot.
-
dude, for a '94 vr, no tuning, 190 bhp and... um, standard, it'll be kr. 90000,- ~ £7000, in taxes alone. into norway that is. Plus the price of the car. you gotta love socialism.
-
I hate that steering lock thing.
-
hehe well then, I thought it was pretty much plug and play, since the rado came with the vr engine as standard. I guess not tho... I guess I could get about £5000 for my old car, but then I'd have to buy a vr for around... £9000. Lotta money. Would perhaps be a good idea, tho, as I would like a newer model than my 89 non-abs, non-heated seats, non-fancy late model things and so on :)

I'm thinking of putting a vr into my g60 shell next summer, when I go down to germany to get a new leather interior anyways. I don't got anywhere to do it myself, nor do I have the skills. I was thinking of getting someone to do it for me, but how many hours are we talking about? Are there any "specialists" that do this in the UK? What do they charge? And what do you really do when you swap the engine? Is it a big job? And what more than the engine itself do you have to swap? How much would it cost to buy a vr engine, give it a full rebuild, and then fit it to the car? And how expensive are those blower kits? I know you've probably answered this a million times, but I don't really get the search feature... homework for me I guess. Thanks in advance! PS! Spent the whole day drifting at the local ski center parking lot. Did some really cool back-to-back-to-back ones

my steering wheel is kinda loose nowadays... just bought a leather three-spoker from BigTartanJudge, waiting for it to arrive... not sure if I want to fasten up the old one meanwhile tho... kinda sucks not having a steering wheel

VEEDUBBED, I got pretty new fuel pumps, and they hum nicely when I turn the ignition to acc. I already dipped the ISV in injector trim (some gas product), but can I dip the whole thing ALL THE WAY under? How do I reset the idle speed with the manual screw? Or where is that manual screw? I'll check the plugs first thing in the morning. kevHaywire, that would be a great idea. I know it is a known issue.
