  1. Hehehehe :D Me and the neighbour had one each and it wiz funny the 2 of them on a sunday getting polished together :-P
  2. Just hit 37k on my G60  :D But its now in hibernation for the cold winter months :( Bought myself an old sierra(WHAT A FORD  )XR 4x4 for sliding about in the snow  So hopefully it will save some mileage on the corrado.
  3. Any damage to the membrane will cause some internal dampness  Also if the membrane is not sealing all the way round this will also let in some moisture as the top window seal will not always create a 100% seal. At some point your top seal may have been removed, and as these have an internal steel stiffener(which also rusts and rubs through the seal) they do not always go back on as originaly formed. If you do need to useany type of glue/sealant to hold on the membrane please do not use any type of silicone/mastic sealant as they do not adhere to the membrane properly,so go to a proper motor factor and buy a tube of the correct stuff(sorry cant remember the brand names). Someone said to try "no nails" stuff you get at B&Q type places but nobody has tried it yet ......i think! This all comes from repairs to many door problems over the years. Bset of luck
  4. why not check out this :D Add yer phooties here  http://www.atx-hosting.co.uk/corrado/fo ... ight=wheel
  5. According to local stealers(specialist motors Aberdeen) the quantum(scorpion) alarm that was fitted to early VWs was only a Thatcham class 2 alarm system. As these were fitted over 10 years ago that was the insurance requirements before the thatcham 1 class become the norm. If you got to your local dealers they will might be nice enough to supply a certificate(or even just a note) to say that the has been fitted with a original VW fitment alarm.
  6. My mates dads ferrari F50  But i only got to move it in his garage and rev it up but it made my day   :D

    IS THERE HOPE?

Just remember that if you get it for a good price and it gets too expensive to run just sell it. It might break yer heart but not your wallet  :D
  8. Front wheel bearings can be a right sod to press out so the time and money they charged you seams to be pretty standard. For work in Aberdeen you should give Aberdeen volks centre in Kingswells a shout Call on 01224 742520 :D I think that scottcorrado had some problems with Bavaria motor werks
  9. Hi ya lass. You might not get receipts for the new clutch from him but they should st least have the delivery note to go with it. Get the car out of there and get another garage to check it out, that way you have backing of another profesional independant company. If they find any problems with poor workmanship get it all written down and that can be some of your eveidence or back up. As there is plenty os North east/Aberdeen people in the forum please could you name and shame the garage so that other owners can stay clear of garages like this or even tell of similar woes.

  11. mileometer fading!

Any body got any ideas why my mileometer LCDs fade every now and again. It seams to happen every time the battery gets disconnected and then takes ages to come right again. I did speak to VW stealers about prob thinking it might be a "clocking" problem but the put my mind to rest and stated that there was a few out there suffered this problem with faulty units. They said the solution was to replace the whole unit but i would like to understand why or how this happens. It also doesnt help that my car is due its MOT and i cant read the mileage correctly and i dont want the guy to add 50k to my motor. Everthing else regarding my MFA and dash work perfect and stealers put my mind to rest regarding the car not being original mileage
  14. Bonny Scotland Aberdeen central.
  15. I just fitted my coilovers today with the help of a (Vw tech) and during the same discussion he said that the rear axle monting brackets have slooted holes in them so that rear axle can be "twisted" into line with the front wheels. :D Hope that is some help :D
  16. You must be referring to the motor show test (Top Gear?) where they put an R1 against a Porsche 911 turbo. I seem to remember the R1 was way quicker on the straights but even on the corners. Remember, cars have 4 wheels and 4 brakes, bikes don't. Any biker that keeps with cars round bends at 3 figure speeds either has a well sorted bike or balls the size of grapefruits. Kev Funny you mention that i wondered what kept hitting the petrol tank this afternoon. If i remember correctly the porsche cut the bikers line up at the last corner
  17. Had the R1 out for a blast today over the lech road and what did i have a run against.....a ferrari 360mondeas and he could keep to my pace. Does this make to the conclussion that the vr6 is better than the Ferrai! :D
  18. i am away to do my front wishbone bushes and after advice from Jim Curly at Star performance, he says you are better just fitting origials at the front and just buy the complete arms as they come with the bushes and only cost about an extra £5 each compared to the bushes themselves. You then dont have the hassle of changing out the old bushes and have nice new arms as well. :D
  19. they just nicked one in just before the whistle. :(
  20. Jeez rodders and you said I never use my motor. Guess whos car we are taking down to inters next year  Glen come on down :D
  21. I'll get you Skid!!! Gonna steal your car and clock it up to over 100k!!![/quote Better watch out stevemac  '92 G60 2657miles (yes that's just over 2 1/2 thousand miles) good ehh....... Think we need some evidence here  At least i can sleep safer at nights now
  22. Yeh haaa :D Sitting at just under 38k  Bought it at 29k in April 2001. 1991 G60 And its original......sure roddy can vouch for that  :D
