Has anybody removed/fitted the latch Receiver pins on the A pillar. I bought a new set as the nylon bush had got knackered(only cost £4.50 from VW). I started to remove the first one but noticed the the nut behind the pillar is not fixed. Does anyone know if this is held in or will just drop when i remove the pin fully?

Mine hasnt and is still on the original one :) But the car has only done 41k

Got a New Toad Alarm fitted to my G60 and it always activates when the cooling fan is still running. When the car is cold and the fan is not running there is no problem :D But when the car is hot and the fan is running when i activate the alarm it always triggers the alarm off(also when the fan comes on at a later time) I always thought that alarms had bypass sensors for this purpose? The alarm installer though i may be getting a return live to the ignition as it is coming up with a code 7(ignition) and so fitted a relay.....which has helped none. My car is the first G60 corrado he has fitted to and will be contacting Toad to see abouts mods. He has done plenty of VR6 corrados and never had this problem before. Has anybody else had this before ???

Sorry struan i care to differ on that opinion. These product DO work very well at removing dirt form alloys....but.. If you speak to any wheel refurbisher, they can tell if any acid wheel cleaners have been used on the wheels as this distroys the surface paint/coating and pre ages the finish and once an open edge is found between the finish and alloy it works its way inbetween them which leads to inperfections and flaking eventually. Regular cleaning and a coating of wax is all that is required to keep the brake acid from also doing its worse. A none acidic cleaner like swissols MC2 dilute cleaner will remove any hard to clean brake dust. I must apologise for bumping this thread from the original question.

Tried the lot and nothing comes close to Swissol. :D

The toyos are very good in the dry but myself and other people who use them all agree that they are poop in the wet. To be realistic its more wet weather tyres that i am looking for to fit onto my 15" G60 rims(that are on the mk1). If i was interested in real snow tyres i would try and get a set to fit the narrower and smaller standard GTI rim(175x13  ). But as i stay city central i am hoping that i wont need proper snow tyres  And as i am not going snowboarding this year they will hardly be used. So its decent wet weather tyres i am looking for. Strange to hear people disliking the Uniroyal rainsports as other people recommended them. Think i would rather take Joe publics opinion on a tyre than the mags write ups

Hehehehe i ve got them on the raddo but they are rubbish in the wet. And i do more than 8 miles a year........maybe 12 if i am not on crutches. :-P :-P

I am looking at getting myself a set of winter or wet type tyres to fit to my MK1 golf for winter running. Anybody recommend a decent tyre for me?
-
Thanks guys I knew of most of the tips so far but this may come in handy for other peeps thinking of storing too. Some peope dont bother jacking the car up to save the tyres from flat spots they just add about 5-8 PSI to compensate for it sitting on the same spot. Other tips have been to always pull out your seat belts to stop any mildew getting to the inner parts of them. leave the back seat down so there is air getting to the boot compartment and if possible leave a window/sunroof cracked open for air. The car is left for 2 weeks when i work offshore and the handbrake is never left on. Cheers for the tip coolrado about cleaning the interior but my car is never dirty inside(or out) so i get thet feeling everytime i get in the car  :D If i had power in the garage i would get an optimate for the bike and cars batteries but i may have to take them out and leave then in the house/shed on trickle charge or if the MK1 is the same battery i will stick it in that  Everthing will get sprayed with:- ScotoilerFS365 protectant. Any more tips appreciated. 8)

First of all cant get the car into the house for the bike sitting there  And 2nd the garage doesnt have power..........

-
Where can you get your car valued for insurance purposes?  8) I have always wondered but never found out,but wondered recently when asked how much i would sell my car for  Not that i have plans for getting rid but would like to find out incase the insurance company ever tries to rip me off.

Pity with ya big style guys. But on the other hand try being a biker riding along on top of the stuff   Thats when ya know you are definately in for trouble. Its not only the bikes paint work that gets it .......you get ammo shot at you from any twat passing ya.
-
Jeesuz  Looks like mine needs to be set up
-
Next time out in your raddo try and stick to a steady 80mph(not a public highway of course) and reset your MFI and see what MPG you are getting  I got 27.5mpg  Thats in a 39k 91 G60 with only panel filter and Milltek for mods. Roddy was in bits as his VR6 was into its 30`s............mind you i told him my engine was still tight :D Try it and see what ya are getting. After 191miles it said i did an average of 29.4 mpg but after some good calculations i worked it out as 28.73 MPG. Think i will try Shell Optimax as some guys say they get more out of a tank 8)

Clean it with a good brake cleaner spray then apply the type of polish that you want.....hey presto   Just dont put on to much spray as it could melt into the vinyl

Why are there 2 sets of wires going to the dash tweeters???
skid replied to Captaincook's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
It has an inline (passive) crossover which goes from the mid to the tweeter :D
