First coner to the Pothole/Draincover generally and the one you lean on hardest when enterng/ on a roundabout... Generally 1st of the 4 tyres to wear out too!
-
Strangely not! The last treat she had was the Audioscape/amp/components she was treated to last month... Ungrateful cow!! There you go! I put shiny new wheels on and few weeks later she pumped a H-Gasket! Count yourself lucky!
-
Did you buy it anything Shiny recently???
-
Yes and No John, the wheelman WILL have known that it didn't go on properly, the team WILL have been told (in code), and Alonso WILL have felt it, a lose wheel doesnt feel like flat tyre... HOWEVER in all the records of Radio conversation between driver and team, it will never have been "directly" mentioned... they basically sent him out the end of pit lane on a gamble it'd stay on a lap... Just becuase it a Spanish Driver (using losest terms) at a Spanish Grand-prix... smacks of Bernie and yet more "Politicking" .. Bet Renault said they'd consider withdrawing if they weren't let off too! Seems that with the departure of Big-Ron Flav has stepped his "game" up a gear as well...

How many years this being going coxy? And youre so close and off with "stage 2" MOT/ legal it, Drive it... THEN think stage 2!
-
Aw PISH! Bloody Spaniards!

Abs go G60... VR and 18T will mean a raise in height, or regular sump replacements! I take it by smooth bonnet you mean washer removal and relplace with mk4 underslung ones? As to tints, get a pair of teh headlight protectors like I have (not the new yellow ones, the smoked) that'll toughen up the front a bit too!
-
Arb bushes need the subframe dropping down... Not a 5 second job.... EH! are arb bushes dramatically different on a VR then, cause it took me 10 minutes to do mine up on a garage ramp. and those prices for fitting are shocking, are we talking VW dealer 90 quid and hour here or what? Thank god thought I'd gone mad!
-
Jeepers Craig! Drop links take 5 seconds and only cost £70 from VAG... same time for ARB bushes... and will be done with the Wishbones! You can get a much better rate surely? Even for a mechanical 'Tard like me it only took 2hrs (with a 4-poster lift) if you excluded faffing about getting new Drop links after I didn't and snapped them taking the wishbones out!

What rear mount did you use Dave?
-
Ok Guys want to get on and do an upgrade on the engine mounts on my 9a as after 120K they'll be a bit on the Baggy side, and my 1->2 gear shift's getting a bit "Baulky" under acceleration... So there are Poly mounts but as it's a "daily" don't want to go "dash-shaking" route... I rememebr someone saying mk2 or mk3 Golf Diesel mounts fit, but can't find anywhere on here that backs that up?

Nice one stuey... two things though... Samcos and a blue cap for the bottle (or mk4 u-grade) -
Highly rate the PX4's great wet weather tyres and pretty awesome in the dry too... had 195/50/15's on the estsorils...

He's in France(I think ATM) having a well earned rest from 50+hr weeks!!!! ED it will..... but what year??? :ignore:

Jay if you read this before ripping out the seatwiring... can you have a look where it's supposed to go and some pics please? Head scratching on mine...
-
Welcome back Jay, and conrats on the baba! I'm in same position, but her indoors has told me that I'd be hell to live with if I sold the Rado! So it stays, and we're looking for a Piss-Rat or similar for her! I was looking at this one... seems like a really good base... want the interior though! ;) What's the plans for replacing it?
-
Easy to do and use VAG.. they lasted this long...
-
All of them TBH.. Get new wishbones for front and ARB mounts too... both come with bushes... Then there's the rear beam... and that's expensive! Although you can cheat with Polybushes as they can be hammered in rather than pressed.. which involves dropping the whole beam..
-
Ah glad to be giving these worms excercise again!
-
WOW! Modern Hot-rod in the making.... For me would have been even more awesome if they could have kept all that running gear under a stock e30 body, rather than go with M3 bulges/spoliers... and then paint it Beige... That rollcage... a work of art!
-
165 on a 7" as seen on a "Certain" show-rado which is painted :camp: (ok Dinkus would love it) PS.. Holy thread resurrection!

Well nowt's happened on the rado front in the past month or so, Jr and house hunting put paid to that! However this morning, The "Ghey" has gone all French on me! Th Th's will be going off to BJV soon to be stripped and re-furbed in a "normal" colour, and then pressed into use as daily's as the better half will be using the Rado once we've moved up to Buckinghamshire... Moving the weekend before Edition! :brickwall: -
Yup physically a straight swap.. but the mirror controller wiring is different 4 wire early and 6 late IIRC  Think wiring to window switches are different... I have a complete greay early interior in teh loft if you want it? :norty:
