Yandards' 16VG60 - Running Report 23 Jul 15
vwdeviant replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
Begging for some Smoked Lens protectors Yan! Did that to mine last Winter (07-08) and was amazed at just how much more of the yellow reflector I could see too! Regularly claying the outside of the lenses (and windows too.. use an old-ish claybar) makes a big difference too! Amazed how much rubbish sticks to lights and windows even after a month! -
Straight via the toy shop for more stock to hurl about! Then into a supporting role for Kimmi again (until his Hangover's get too bad for him to race mid season again)! :epicfail: Only one Ferrari driver of note this season... Rubens!

Petition against national speed limit reduction
vwdeviant replied to dukest's topic in General Car Chat
Yup, look at Scandinavian driving tests... Denmark- minimum of 60hrs Instruction with a registered tutor, plus Skid-pan training... Here- couple hours with mum/dad, no skid training or motorway... I'm all for P-plates restricting new drivers to "Low HP" cars and have to take extra modules (Motorway/night driving/skid-pan) to lose them. Sad fact is that most kids these days haven't learnt to drive in anything without ABS/TCS/ESP etc.. and when they fianlly can afford their first (probably old) car have no idea what to do when they get into trouble as there's no computer nanny to sort it out! :cuckoo: All Driving School cars should have the ability to switch off these Nanny features... -
 Good find Yan! Any idea what "Ex works" means? :confused4: Do you always do your "Small part" disassembely on your computer's keyboard?

Good one coming from someone who lives in London! (Like me!) Problem is if Govt won't takle it on the local councils will... Bucks already seems to have a blanket 50 limit on most roads these days! :( :cuckoo: -
COME ON BRAWN GP! I just pray all the sillyness and interference from the last couple years is firmly behind F1 now... However having the son of a nazi, and a Miopic powercrazed midget running it probably means.... an :epicfail:

NEW HEADLIGHT LENSES(and any parts from this website).......
vwdeviant replied to M15 VW's topic in Suppliers Forum
Great News! If you can get some discount on RHD reflectors (think they are different to LHD?) as well as the buckets that would be (as Tont the tiger says) great! -
Mark, ignore the MFA and do a few "To empty*" runs .. like NoCrap I get about 400-450 on motorway, 350+ on mixed (and that means London!) about £50 a tank. 16v Mileage also depends what driving style (above 4k all the time?) as well as what mods you have? The Gauge will be a bit "Random" towards the bottom as more room for fuel to swill about! Oh and you'll find it drop more sharply in the last 1/4 than the previous 3/4 *Not to actual empty, just to the start of the red... as they will be years of Carp swilling in the bottom of the tank!

Which coilovers do you use on your really bumpy local roads?
vwdeviant replied to Leonard's topic in Drivetrain
Kev, we need to meet up so I can give your "God Suspension" A second opinion! an see if I was wrong picking KW-1's :confused4: Leonard, Essex Roads I've driven are the same as most of britain's pretty shocking, with some good bits! I hit a hole that felt the approximate size of Grimsby on the N/side lane of the M11 a few weeks ago heading up to Standstead... My old "Fave [strike:1o348kq3]racetrack[/strike:1o348kq3] road" between Thame and Bicester is now a shhadow of it's old self thanks to trucks using it as part of a short cut between M40/A41... If you want "Bad" Try A41 near the Tring Junction, they have patched and re-patched it so bad that you have 2 choices 90+ to skip over the peaks, or sub 60 to avoid crashing suspension! I also find speed affects ride on some roads, the A418 going to my folks has just had a 40/50 slapped on it and feel like a ploughed field with tarmac on it at those speeds where as before at 60 the road felt fairly flat! Something to do with harmonics I guess? -
ROFL Best advice ever! If you are thinking about a TT how much work on it will you do yourself? Have a really good look under the bonnet, and chat to the service guys, from reading a few threads they sound like a bit of a pig to work on, like most modern cars, a feat of packaging over ease of mechanical ingress!

Trur but if you go for KW-3's you have Bump and rebound adjustment... Too complicated for my little brain to get round hence I went for the "Compromise" KW-1's... but these, allied to not too much of a drop (a-arms horizontal at max) should give you the closest thing to a decent ride and decent handling... when you can use it! -

Pick the Mid-ground.. coilies and 16s? I can say 60mm down spring kit and stock Boge shocks with 17's and 205/40's is pretty damn harsh! And this is over the means streets of E-London, where anything smaller than the size of a ww2 1000lb bomb crater isn't considered a pot-hole! :censored: Problem is it's such a nice set up over decent roads, but finding them these days is getting tough! For ref I'm going down the KW-1/16's route as from all the reading of various threads that seems the best "Compromise" set up. -
Jon, have a look in your local Halfords, they stock Bosch blades in singles so yes should be able to get them from there!
-
Yeah problem with any form of media blasting.. but thought they should have de-greased it first? :confused4: Try a range of Bottle brushes, get them from Home-brew centres etc... They should be enough to get everything clean...
-
Adwhitt... Where in London are you? I know of a good guy in Hertford, and reasonable too! Trying to find a decent garage in E-london is a nightmare! I used to use a good friend in Oxfordshire, but a close on 200 mile round trip kind of defeats this now! :(

My Pearl Ghey 16v Gone :( - Introducing "Annie"
vwdeviant replied to vwdeviant's topic in Members Gallery
Not as grippy for me (I am a tad gangly, and Rec-os are a bit wider bolster to bolster) but more supportive in the back/seat squabs. Overall, I'm liking.. and they're not perfectly adjusted for me yet, still have the Looms to fit! -

Cheers Sukh, just a shame I can't get inside to appreciate it! If these "small" things happen with just an interior swap hate to think what's going to break when get the suspension and (Hopefully) ported head done! :brickwall: -

That's a bit harsh, I have dyslexia and even though my spelling could be alot worse i often make mistakes... Would you really utilise grammatical error as a reason to ignore a thread?[/quote:2zfbwnkh] Tom: "I fink 'is referrin to txt spk innit?" :brickwall: We all use localisms ( (yes I can't spell 'The' correctly on the fly.. generally comes out as 'teh' ) but there is no excuse for 'Text Speak' it fair winds me up! :bad-words:

Andy Read the title of this thread and was about to get Mr. Tyre Iron out to pay you a visit! Stop :camp: ing about! Just get the durned things cleaned up with the stuff Karl's reccomended, then trial fit them in teh car (10 minutes) and see what you think!
