  1. Welcome to the "dark side" Enjoy the Rado and all it's little "foibles" (sp?) You'll find loads of info on here and dont be afraid of asking questions we've all been "newbies" at some stage.. Now why does that look familiar? Where have I seen it before??
  2. Dav @ Pureklas.. job done and he's in MK too..
  3. Wrong, I left my D-plates on for my recent MOT as it was going to fail on other stuff so a case of lets see... The plates alone had 4 fails EACH on them font/spacing/d-band/stadt stickers... so NO a German font, D-banded, Stadt & Emission stickered plate won't go through the new "Automated" MOT
  4. Tim, pop up a photo of your plates and we'lllet you know. My understanding (after a recent MOT) is: The uk font is a certain size etc.. no breaks in the Letters or numbers... (unlike on German font 9's or 0's) they have to be a single shade of black on a reflective back ground (white front/yellow back) As far as banding, if they are banded they will have to have either a GB or EU on it... so if you have uk-font and a "D" band that's why they pulled you. And legally all new plates (made since sometime last year) have to have the suppliers name and postcode on clear display at the bottom. However if you have "old" plates then that doesn't apply..
  5. F/Book grou as well: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10377124253
  6. Tim if they are the ones in your build thread.. they aren't UK font (the 9 has a gap) plus the used of Stad/emissions stickers is frowned on too... (I'm running D band, German font and stikies, I'm just missing the hyphon to get a full house). So if they are those they'll probably take them off you if you walk into the station brandishing them! Count yourself lucky, a forum member had his confiscated and had to go get them from the not-so-local cop shop once he'd paid his fine..
  7. Shhhh.. they'll hear you.. And another eason to keep D-plates here in London.. Ladies and gentlemen we give you the LEZ http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/default.aspx Can't see this just being restricted to Busses, Lorries and Vans.
  8. The APNR doesn't recognise "European" fonts... hence the crackdown.. apparently as stated to prevent Crime/Terrorism... and nothing to do what so ever with any possible taxation on mileage etc.. "oh no siree bob Jim no".... I'm off to order some pressed Uk font "no band" plates from Dubmeister.. have already lost one front plate to some careless twat in the station carpark (hit it twice!), and would have lost another a week after fitting the pressed "D" ones.. Now all we need to do is sort some-one who will supply "retro" uk dealer plates... I wonder how the guy in the Supra who went past me on the M25 a few nights ago with "proper" Jap plates will get on... now there's a thought, they're rhd... or S/african, Austrailian, New Zealand plates....
  9. Basically about 1/4 of the M25 will be under an enforced Variable speed limit..... Oh and I noticed that the Variable speed Gantries are still in place between Jct 25 and 27 (A10 to M11) from when they were doing all the roadworks that way last year, no cameras just Gantries.. So maybe they'll extend it over the top as well? M25 to become one complete Variable speed limit? Very probably!
  10. Have a look at the Wiki as there's a guide to removal and repair there too.. Used it when I did my moonroof conversion.. 3hrs all in.. you need at least 2 people though (more would be helpful to hold all the pillar trim out the way... unless you're going to strip it all out!
  11. Taken from a posting on ED38: A friend of mine in the Met police sent me this today. Now I know none of you would ever break the speed limit, but I still thought you might be interested in this.... I have received information from RPU Traffic Management that the company who look after the Variable Speed cameras between Jct 10 - 15 on the M25 on behalf of the Metropolitan police are ACTIVATING the cameras from 15/02/08. The current cameras are analogue and the speed for enforcement is set at 93mph. However the system is changing to Digital and the Commissioner has directed the company to set the cameras at ACPO guidelines, this will be 80mph. I noticed workmen on the gantries along this section a few weeks ago so appears to be real... So that will mean a variable speed limit all the way from the M40 to the A3..
  12. Your a week behind! "Operation Larch" started last weekend! Mainly aimed at people dodging Tax/hooky number plates that avoid the APNR cameras etc... I wonder if they will stop the "Eastern Europen registered" RHD cars in east London... Just get a set of good old UK plastic ones made up and wait them out.. something will soon come up to distract them away from this..
  13. Struan, you're just a seat Whore! Croosey can you bung your name onto the list in the events thred? Cheers!

  24. As an Aside.. is there any way of getting teh Motor to park with the wiper in a different position. Was thinking about directly up the screen so it's across the heating elements.. Would seem to be a tad more aerodynamic too?
  25. sorry but what is a rehostat, i have never had a corrado, or a car of this age before so please have some patients with me. are you reffering to the scroll type switch next to the light switch? and if i replace the switch, is it easy enough to just pop in to a vw dealers? Lee Yeah little scroll/wheel thing next to the switch.. just have a fiddle and see if it makes a difference. As John says if just dash pod lights out and not the rest (heater controls/ and all the switches) then sounds like bulb replacement time.. All VW's have had some sort of "dash dimmer" ever since the days of the beetle..
