  1. Handbags down Kiddies.... Could be low level oil, could be send gone O/S, could be broken pick up pipe... and a million other things.. Now sit back exhale count to 10..... and breathe.... Now where's the next BBS-RS thread I can have a rant on!
  2. I reckon Rumbongo pink! Rumbongo is yellowish? Sure it was pink... after all you were drinking it Dinks
  3. Cheers dude will take you up on the offer.. Not much of a surprise test if you know about it! ;)
  4. http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... pic=131973 There you go.. from 8 tonight.. only 20 mins blast down the a/m40!
  5. Well the leads themselves don't look too bad, just given them a wipe with a rag and wd40 lets see... Jon if you're coming to teh Wycombe meet tonight can you bring them down and we'll see what the differences are.
  6. Yeah the parts guy did ask if I was sitting down.... Gonna give it a dusting over to local met tonight wish me luck, I have to drive to East London Friday morning (6am start) so I hope it was just a Hiccup...
  7. Mine are located under the rear parcel shelf supports meaning I am still able to access the car through the boot with the key. I then press the button and it operates the solenoid as it would from the Key fob. Bit annoying when your battery fails though as you have to climb through the boot and open it from the inside  And watch for the "my car was stolen" thread! Ran Solenoid doors on our cal-lookers (aircooled) back in the day, best way round flat batteries was a pair of terminal hidden on the outside that you could plug leads and a battery onto to activate them... no buttons etc
  8. Jon, where did you get your leads from? I looked at some from ECP but they didn't have any way of mounting the knock sensor onto them! VAG wanted close on £140 for a "genuine" set!
  9. It was almost as if the cable had snapped, nothing at all... As to cr@p in the tank. Yeah filled it up to brimming last week and done 250miles on it with no probs...
  10. All else fails, worm into the boot, remove the grey cover and you'll see the loch mech.. then you should be able to open it.. Possibly the monkey metal the lock collor's made from had broken (mine did)..
  11. Ok so the Rado's obviously got jealous of my taliking about the Scirocco resto... Last night on the way home from the station in the freezing cold she decided she wasn't going to rev... for a minute I was stranded at the side of the road with an engine that would idle at 750 but not rev at all, thought I'd snapped a throttle cable first, but no. Then all of a sudden she jumps to 1000 and when I press down revs smoothly again! So off I go and a couple of time she had a quick cough and splutter but after 5 min ran sweet again and same power as before (even gave a quick "blast through the gears" on the dual carridge way home to make sure). Been out this morning to check the basics, topped coolant up (little low but she does tend to use a little from somewhere), checked oil level, no mayo on oil cap or dipstick.. Dizzycap and arm are also fine (renewed about 2 mths) Fuels at 1/2 tank... All sensor wiring looks ok, and had a light tug on all that I could reach with the engine running and no changes to idle speed. When it happened was early on about 1-2 minutes into my trip, water temp was just getting off the stop and no oil temp was showning on MFA... Starts and revs fine this morning.... I'm confused... She's a 9a 16v with no engine mods (bar a drilled airbox).
  12. Mirrors? I know 2/3 people who'd want those... But then Andy665 would probably kill you too  Like the rear spoiler, not too sure about a bonnet for me though.. and a front splitter, wouldn't it just shatter if you caught a large speedhump?
  13. Nope Pureklas are in MK and BJV are near Hemel Hempstead.. Didn't Dinkus have his wheels done by them as well? If so a word of warning to the lowered.. be prepared to walk, it's a bit rough on the approach!
  14. I bow to your studently abilities of deduction Holmes...
  15. Pay about £2.50 in this climate... Oh and I'll even be so good as to throw in my stock seats if you like!
  16. Must be europe, look at the grammar! obviously been translated. Plus the pics are from Netherlands Corrado Database site.... 2 + 2 = 4 Smart arse get back to Lectures... However US spec Belts... :?
  17. Wow how good does the weather look there! Bet it's cold still though! Do I see "Wood effect panneling" on the red car's dash?
  18. Feb Calendar photo contenders there! Sweet Rado chap... love it... more photos please! Whereabouts are you? US or Europe?
  19. Strangely enough before I opened the door I was thinking... will this be a "Rob come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" porject.. but am really surprised by how well the finish has held up, especially on the bonnet which was beggining to fade before I put her to bed. But yeah will give you a shout... Freebie to hone your talents on soft old Mars Red mate? ;) There's also about a mile of black body kit and spoilers that will need doing as well!
  20. Sweet! When I saw baody repairs thought the worst! Great attention to detail here as I've never seen these issues looking round it! Looks to be going great... wish (ike Goldie) I could paint too so many niggles, dents, chips and bits to fix on mine...
  21. It's not too bad a job to do to be honest, as long as you leave a day or so aside for fiddling around. I second that! Best done on a warm day though bit of heat helps with manipulating some of the Pillar plastics. And as you have to get the lining out to do it.. two Vultures, one Boulder... simple! They are much easier to clean out the car and they dry quicker too!
  22. Pictures.... Project Summer blinks into the first light of day for a number of years... Paint's still pretty good considering she's not seen a wax for 6 years! The "fading" is the dust on the paint, didn't want to "wipe" it off till I can properly get onto restoring the finish again... Cost Option Manual Tilt and slide sun-roof.. and you can also see factory single wiper (one of the hangovers from Mk1 Rocco on these crossover year cars) Rear Zender "big" spoiler (quite 'desirable' from what I can gather!) G60 BBS wrapped in (flat) Yoko A520 Just to prove there was a Scirocco GTi: Un-ripped "sports" interior, not bad for 26 years old! (looks a lot worse in photo than real life) again a "cost option" in this material. So I'm told. Some of the other optional Cost extras on this "loaded" car.. Headlight Washers and foglamps.
  23. Cheers Mate, engine's "sealed" and lock up's dry (apart from a little condensation) so I'm hoping all is OK.. May sling some Penatrating oil down the Barrels in the meantime as I guess it can't hurt too much! Any suggestions are more than welcome from you all! I don't want to "hurt" this engine as it's the Original "mk1 GTi style" (ext oil cooler rather than the Mk2 style water/oil cooler). ALL Fluids will be changed Oil/Coolant/Brakes... This will be a Summer project so no rush to get it out on the road.. Until I start on it then I'll want to drive it "NOW"
  24. update, she's still there. Lock up's had a new roof and door on since I last saw it! Paints still shiney and red  has 3 flats but all seems to be good, not more rust and interior seems good too. Last disc says 05/01  Can't believe its been so long! Will have to get some fuel and a battery on her, see what happens Project summer may well be on! Esp as I just found coilies for £200! Pics to follow later! Now question of the day, what do I need to do to an engine that hasn't been turned over for at least 3-4 years?
