  1. I just opened my bonnet tonight before going to 5's and it opened fine but wouldn't close properly when I'd finished. Tried pushing the release handle in to make sure it was seated properly and it wouldn't stay in the correct position. Checked to make sure the cable hadn't become snagged on anything but everythjing was clear. Pulled the handle again (mistake) and the bloody cable snapped. So it looks like I'll be on the phone to the dealer in the morning to order a new bonnet lock cable... Happy New Year indeed!!!! Any idea how much they are?
  2. Is this whistling sound everyone speaks of really high pitched and sound kind of like a dodgy heater blower bearing?????? I've fitted mine and on part throttle there is a whistling noise and I was just wondering if it's the same. Another thing is what should I do with the wide rubber 90 degree bend piece of pipe that the boost return pipe was connected to? Should I keep it on or remove it? On another subject, catchtanks. At the moment I'm using an Oasis bottle and some gaffa tape and a jubilee clip (please if you have to laugh, laugh quietly). A mate of mine's dad is quite the man when it comes to metal and he is going to make me up a catchtank. The thing I would like to know is, can a catchtank just be a metal container with one inlet for the length of rubber tube taht comes with the boost return kit or is there more to it? Just so I can get the ball rolling and get it made up. Also, any suggestions as to where to mount it? Thanks in advance everyone
  3. Spotted 2 on my New Year's trip to France. First was on the way on the 30th of December in Gateshead parked in a side street at the very front. Didn't get the make just a bit of the registration M*** BSW. The other was on the way home at the services at Scotch Corner, M*** VRG. Assuming it's a VR6 due to the plate. Any takers?????
  4. You don't have to change the hazard switch cause in mine I've got the later stalks but the early hazard switch. Don't ask me how it's done though, it was like that when I bought the car.
  5. Just fitted my boost return kit today and I just have to say thanks very much to Darren and that it a great smiles per mile mod. I just know I'm gonna go through more petrol now ............ shhhhhhhhhhhhum 8)
  6. Big thanks to Darren @ G-werks for getting my boost return kit to me. It arrived this morning after Royal Mail lost the first one. Special Delivery I hear you say? I think not  Anyway, Darren posted me another kit up and this one arrived with no problems, just need to fit it. Cheers matey, have a great Christmas 8)
  7. :( bugger. not what I wanted to hear. Would that be the one on the bottom right of the rad?
  8. Was heading out to work tonight and started to panic a little as my analogue temperature guage didn't move :? There is a pic attached but the panic is over as when I got home I let the car sit for a while and the guage moved as normal. So it would seem that it's so cold out there that the coolant didn't have time (was only a 15 minute drive) to heat up above 70degrees or to even move of the resting needle. Anyone else heard of or experienced this?
  9. Phoned the dealer today and ordered the foamy stuff (cheers for the part number silverfox) and some sort of double sided adhesive to stick it on. Also ordered a new rocker cover gasket as mine is leaking a wee bit. Total cost £34.71 INC VAT but hopefully I'll get it down to £31.24 with my VWCCGB discount. Should be in tomorrow morning so I can get it sorted tomorrow afternoon. Joe, the guy I spoke to on the phone didn't have a clue what I was on about when I asked for the sealant stuff, "all that's listed is double sided tape stuff at £12.54 + VAT" so just got that. And he says that'll be enough for ONE side!!!! Stealers indeed :x
  10. Cool, cheers Joe. I'll have to get me some of that and hope for a dry day sometime soon. 8)
  11. Hey everyone. Typical this time of year I get 2 leaks inside the car and just before i went on holiday. Anyway, when I got back I stripped the interior out so I could source the leaks. I found them both:- 1) Fan blower seal from engine bay to passenger footwell - SORTED 2) Passenger side door membrane roundabout speaker - SORTED ...... until today  I had stripped the door down and removed the old scabby plastic membrane which was "held" on with sealant. I then made my own makeshift (it was only meant to see it through the winter) plastic membrane held on with double sided tape and gaffa tape. Messy I know and quite pirimitive but it worked on the drivers side very well. It passed the hose test and the subsequent wash the car tests so I thought everything was ok. Until the rain came on last night and it came down HEAVY!!!!! Went out to the car today and the passenger carpet is a wee bit wet. Nothing to worry too much about but I'd rathter get it sorted before i ruin my new passenger side sound deadening which cost me about £40. Can someone please answer a couple of questions for me? What is the part number for the foamy membrane stuff you get from the dealer in a roll? Any idea how much it costs? What is the best and most effective method of attaching the foam to the door that will stop my car smelling like a tramp's shoe? Thanks in advance :(
  12. And the part number is.......... 871 601 171 8)
  13. I've got a drivers side wing mirror in Ice Grey Violet if you're interested. £30 delivered. PM me if it's of any use to you 8)

    G60 alternator

The Stealers do em. Not sure on a price but the 65 amp is £95 + VAT (comes to just ovet the ton with Corrado Club discount) and that's on an exchange basis 8)
  16. Well today I took her out a little spin. Couldn't drive her too hard as the fog up here is terrible, but the car seems to love the cold the fog brings. Anyway, the heater is blowing out hot air now but it's not as hot as it usually is. It's an improvement at least. I'll keep my eye on the levels over the next couple of days and top it up if need be. Just out of interest, could someone point out the top hose for me  just so I don't make an arse of it? Cheers for the encouraging posts 8) Need to order that bit from the stealer (part number anyone?) and get it sorted asap. P.S Ian, so sorry to hear about J-DUB, she was a beast
  17. Is the cam cover gasget the cork-type stuff? (I am a total novice btw) No, not via top hose, I am quite silly. I've just read a couple of other posts and I'm starting to worry. 1- I think I might have too much G12+ in the system 2- Could my head gasket be totally tubbered? Seems to be everything at once, 3 leaks, alternator is on it's last legs, now this!!!! hopefully it'll be cheap and easy to sort. Thanks again
  18. The system was practically empty and it's had 2 bottles of G12+ in it and a wee bit of water. I did spot this today though The pic (sorry about the quality) is of the left side of the block as you look at it. There appears to be oil seeping (tiny bit) out and running down. Oil level is ok but have had to top up coolant as the level has dropped. No visible coolant leak, everything that side seems ok. Have I done something wrong? I've not had the chance to take it out and get it warmed up again to see if it's working properly again. Will do it tommorow. Any other suggestions as to what I could do?
  19. Hey Andy, thanks for the quick response. Just been out to have a look and the pipe you speak of does have liquid in it. Gave it a few squeezes anyway just to make sure. Will know later for sure if it made any difference. Will keep you posted. Cheers, Graeme
  20. Hello there everyone. I have a little problem and after a search on here found nothing similar to this (unless i really can't use the search section). Last week I got my coolant leak fixed, this involved the replacement of the little plactic flange on the side of the block (seal had gone and closer inspection revealed severly cracked flange) and the refill of the coolant system with good old G12+. Now, after letting the car warm up etc and putting the cap on after the level had risen in the bottle and taking it a drive I topped the coolant up the next day as it had settled a bit. Seems ok so far but now the car will not blow out hot air, which is a bugger in this weather. I checked that the fan was coming on at the correct temperature so that is ok but I suspeck some air lock. The last time I attempted a coolant change the same happened but a quick thrash and parking on a hill sorted it. Is there some alternative method of fixing this annoying little problem? Thanks in advance everyone and I apologise if this has been covered before. Next time I should dig out the how to on coolant changes without the airlock.
  21. don't forget the hidden speaker screw that holds that part to the door. Remove the speaker cover and you should see it.
  22. Bloody hell mate! Glad to hear everyone is ok and there isn't too much damage to J-DUB. I hope you get everything sorted out easily and quickly enough. I'm loving your diagrams above. Are they actual aerial photos of the crash site? Keep us posted on any developments
  23. Best I've seen is 41.8MPG and was up and down hill. Was only a 20-25 minute drive so probably doesn't count. Kept the revs below 2K the whole way and didn't do any harsh accellerating or decellerating. I was very proud of that (and skint hence why I was driving like a buffoon). 8)
  24. I realised last night that I am having the same problem. No idea where it's coming in but will check out the usual suspects when I get back from oz. The car will be in the garage for 3 weeks so I don't need to worry about it getting soaked while I'm away. Just annoying that it has decided to happen now, just before I go on holiday and nearly 2 years into ownership  I'll keep you guys posted, cheers
  25. Bottom one is a cool photoshop that someone has done. Looks well sweet. Lambo doors could be quite cool but I thought they were more expensive than £700. More like £2K for a really good set (or did I just make that up?)
