  1. rear brakes dead simple, new bearings new 5 hole brakes. front involves more work, new cv join/driveshaft swap may be needed due to the number of splines in the hub. easiest way is to swap the hubs in the hub carrier, but the option of changing the whole hub carrier is another way of doing it however this would invovle new wishbones due to the different ball joints needed.
  2. Just been through the whole thread. Very impressive work you carried out :notworthy: The 7k asking price doesn't get close to what this is worth but hard to get any money back from projects. You'll be getting another one, it's just a matter of time.
  3. Yeah SWICT are doing the wiring, Mark told me who he used to get the can bus adaptor, but when I contacted them they weren't sure which kit to use. I'm hoping one of the r32 guys on here could give me the part details that they are using. Might have to give them a pm.
  4. I've been told that when a 3.2 conversion is carried out,the rev counter will not work with the corrado dash. How can this be resolved? Anyone got any ideas or suggested items? thanks
  5. Fla, you can still get this from vw. tbh i dont think this is an easy seal to make compared to the door type seals. these are extruded out and the seal you describe sounds like the one which is moulded.

    Air ride

I don't personally see anything wrong with air ride. best of both worlds stance and practicality. HK do a hydraulic insert that goes between the coil and damper platform allowing a height change of around 4cm but I have no idea of costs. The performance vw mag did a short write up about air ride made by bag yards this month. I wouldn't mind having a try in a bagged car to see how they ride, Ive heard that the handling with these is much improved. obviousely never as good as coil overs but as good if not better than standard dampers and springs. But all of this depends on budget, reason for use etc. Some of us aren't out and out street/track racers and would never benefit from a top notch coilover setup and would preffer ride quality and practicality as I said.
  7. tight accelerator cable?
  8. I think I should now have all the parts to do the conversion. So my aim is to start in on the easter weekend. Anyone know how I am to get the rev meter to display the engines revs? I've been told a can bus adaptor is required. any suggestions on where to get this or how to get around the problem?
  9. Kip how did you wire up the speed sensor, oil temp and coolant temp wiring? Is this a tricky thing to sort out?
  10. cheers. Its great to see parts that where oily, rusty and generally ugly turn into shiny clean parts. I did come across a slight problem, I ordered a 191 422 884 A steering rack rubber from vw, when I came to fit it I found out it was loose around the steering rack. From what I can tell the rack I have 1H2 422 055 A is from a golf vr6 and should use a different rubber, 191 422 884. It's only a slight difference in part numbers but I guess enough to make a it fit Will attempt to remove the old rod ends and clean up the rods ready to accept nice new parts. Loom should hopefully be back next week. Will need an engine hoist soon.
  11. Interesting point about some 3.2's having the coolant connections on the throttle body and some not having any  I think I will use the audi aux pump but in the same position as the vr one. Put the clutch on the engine yesterday and pre assembled the subframe today. the lurvley dubpower setup hers how its all starting to look like...mmmmmm
  12. Ive now got the dubpower manifold and de-cat pipe. Looks very nice 8) and now just waiting for the loom and ecm to be sent back from SWICT. Started to assemble the subframe after having a nightmare trying to press in the r32 bushes into the wishbones. Today I cleaned up the steering rack ready for a few coats of paint and will give the gearbox a try too at the same time. Anyone know on how best to plumb up the coolant hoses? I need to check but there seems to be no connections on the throttle body like you have on the vr6. what gives?
  13. Called Mark at SWICT and he's pretty much done the loom work :D He said he had trouble with the ecm chip and had to send it off to a friend to get sorted  But he should get it back soon. Spoke to dubpower and I forget his name (useless with names!) but great guy to talk to. really friendly and helpful. decided to go with the whole package, manifold, lambdas in manifold and decat pipe...its costing a pretty penny but should be worth it!
  14. I can't be sure until they are in the wishbone, but just trying to slide them into the subframe met with slight contact. The contact may be caused by the 2 layers of powder coating though
  15. Jeez, how did you do that! Started to rebuild the wishbones only to realise that VW sold me some standard rear bushes instead of the r32 spec :mad2: and to make things worse, because I got them ages ago they wouldnt refund or exchange them :censored: , anyway I now have the correct ones and will press them in soon. It looks like the r32 bushes are a tad taller and wont slide into the subframe, may need to fettle them slightly but will see/check before I do. Collected the subframe after having it redone, still not brilliant but better. Will push for a discount next time for the hassle the company put me through. Not heard off SWICT, nice guy Mark but not very good with the communication. In discussion with dubpower and currently trying to work out which setup to go with ie full dub power system inc manifold, decat and bosses fitted or just the basic maniflold and I will make up a decat with what I have around me. cost is the major decider currently.
  16. damn just checked and it's similar but not right :( Any idea what the minimum order would be to have some made up to match the rado shape? I'm sure loads of rado owners would be interested.
  17. I havent got a picture handy but I would say that GE200 looks alot like it. Any chance they could send a sample length to check? I would be interested in this if some can be bought. where are they located? couldnt work out the webpage
  18. Right, went to VW to sort this out The ones I have are 1JO 407 181 and do have gaps (don't appear too well on picture but trust me they are there) and are NOT R32 version. The 8N0 407 181 B are R32 specific (and tt , seat ..) so I've asked for these to replace. Unfortunately for me, they won't take the 1J0's back because I've had them so long (8months !) even though it was a mistake on VW's part. So will need to sell the 1JO's on. Cheers for all you help guys
  19. Old ones are out, was just checking that the ID on the r32's are teh same 'cus I read something on the forum that a sleeve is needed. Maybe when used with tt spec ones??
  20. sorry about the sixe of the photo  It sounds like he has ordered the worng part number then. Will try and get him to rectify this. So 8N0 407 181 B, can it be ordered from VW or is this an Audi specific item? Do I need a sleeve to fit it too? Heard that the ID is larger than the VR version. Any one know the part number for this if it is needed?
  21. I recently bought some VW R32 bushes from VW. Asked the guy specifically for Golf R32 items and he came up with part number 1JO 407 181. Got them in my hands and expected them to be solid rubber, however they look alot like the standard VR6 shape, see pic. ie has gaps on either side Haws he ordered the wrong item number? Or have the wrong ones been supplied? Cheers
  22. rado dash can be used but the immob feature need deleting from the ecm and a can bus adaptor is required.
  23. that seems to be the basic list, i guesse your using the vr gearbox? may be worth getting the instrument cluster, key and key pickup if you want to avoid the immob issue
  24. Cheers mate, shes all tucked up inside my garage at the moment out the way :) Well you seem to have a Corrado that never goes wrong....i just brought the wrong one i think :( ive spent so much money its a joke!!! Ive had the car nearly 2years and its just been spend spend spend. Ahhh well like you said it will be worth it in the end :) LOL  don't make me laugh! I've had my share of problems, and I have spent a shed load on the car too. If I ever decided to sell the car it would go as parts because if I tried to sell her as a complete setup I would loose a tonne! My mentality is the more I fix, the less there is left to go wrong. Buy a new car and you may have to go through the whole cycle again. If you have the clutch, make a day in our diary's and we can swap it over together.
  25. Your always welcome mate. Yeah, keep meaning to give you a call for that battery you have. What's up with your car at the moment? I was looking at a room near you actually last week with the misses but she wasnt keen as the room was to small :( shame was a nice house! My clutch has gone on the car and i now cant start it either even though ive been running it most days of the week :( im getting the feeling that its time to sell up Don't loose heart mate, we all go through tough times with car issues. When you get it sorted it wil be worth it. Get me, I sound like a relationship expert lol If you need a hand to sort it let me know
