you sure its not the pump in the fuel tank thats playing up and not the external one?

Can someone do me a favour on looking up what these parts are? They are off some instrument clusters and I need to figure out what rado they work with. Thanks 535919035 AK 535919035 AM 535919042AH

if you can get everything from a vr corrado such as subframe (front and rear and inc the wishbones) engine gearbox ecm brakes wiring exhaust manifold wheels you could then unbolt the old engine and slide it out as one big part then slide the new one back in with vr wiring. ive done it and i think anyone handy with tools can do it

forgot about this post. ended up doing the conversion in two steps first step pressed vr6 hubs into 16v hubs redrilled mk4 golf gti disks, 188mm and cost £100 inc drilling mk4 gti callipers, free froma friend but would expect them to be about £30 vr6 out cv joints (think about £50) brake parts could have been vr6 versions but i had the gti brakes in the garage to use so cost about £200, could be less if you have good contacts second step was carried out when i did a vr6 conversion on the car vr6 wishbones vr6 roll bar vr6 bearing housing mk4 gti callipers (could have used vr6 versions, and possibly g60's but never tried) mk4 gti disks (could have used vr6 versions, and possibly g60's but never tried) vr6 drive shafts inc inner and outer cv's rears are a simple conversion because I just changed the disks to a 5 stud version, ie vr6. straight swap

i made a hanger up, by using threaded bar and a a piece of steel bent into a required shape to hold the rubber ring on. The threaded bar allows me to change the height. I had to slightly bend the bracket on the exhaust too. probably easier to reweld, but I dont have a welding machine at the moment :(

its been raised since this picture was to make it sit more into the bumper recess

There is alot of info here : viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33931 Only problem with the topic is it's not actually as "definative" as I would have liked it. If I get chance I will do a step by step guide. This depends on how easy it goes lol But to answer your question, the r32 should drop straigh on the vr's subframe, the front mount may need to be lowered to clear the bonnet strengthening bar (but cant be sure), if you have air con pump the front subframe needs a slight notch made to allow for clearance. I've read that the vw r32 exhaust manifold wont clear the firewall/bulkhead so an alterantive needs to be bought. But I need to check about audi's r32 setup, I saw a post about these not needing as many "extra" parts to allow for the conversion

Alot of R32 engines seem to come with the DSG gearbox. I know that to fit it with the r32 will be tough. But how tough will it be? Lets assume its an r32 conversion with drive by wire throttle, and FWD (for now)? Parts I think that are needed for DSG conversion: DSG G/Box DSG Controler CANbus (what is this exactly) wheel sensors? (wont the abs sensors do this?) wheel position sensor ( i would imagine this can cause issues) Does anyone have links to other forums where someone has done this conversion/work. Doing this post both for research as a possible route for my project, and also to help others on the forum with gathering all usefull info on the DSG

how pi$$ed would you be if this happened to you

when i said some modification needed to use the vr box i meant things like extra long bolts, some extra supports etc. like Kip said the box bolts up fine which sensors are you talking about then kip? this is making the dsg conversion quite possible. do you know anyone whos done it?
-
keep it quite! I wanted to keep the bids down lol i think remap are roughly £200 de remove the immob feature and i think its a few more quid to get the 2 lambda sensor inputs removed (r32 uses four lambdas iirc) standard gearbox can be used with some minor work r32 can fit in a rado but needs new drive shafts making up. no idea if anyone has done DSG, would like to find out mind.

I amy take you up on your offer pete_griff as I will be in Hereford over teh christmas holidays. I need to ask a few questions about little things like, where to get the manifold, engine support etc. I'm actually thinking of this as an interim tbh, and would like to use the r32 gear box and have the driveshafts made up. this would be phase 2 of the r32 build and will use the vr6 box to get started. Phase three is 4wd so traction shouldnt be a concern for too long :) Sorry Leonard but don't remember too well, my memory is awefull. But I'm glad I've helped you in soe way. Ive suprised a few company reps who try to shag the back of my car with their BMW's on the motor a few times. Love how they ease off when they realise how quick vr rados are. So it all boils down to cost and shortest down time with the ecm routes. I have no prior experience with aftermarket ecm's so any input with costs, difficulties etc would be a good start for me.

ar5e! I hope things get better for both you and the missus in the new year.

classic and very nice looking wheels.

right, finally decided on the next steps in this project. Not going to rebuild the vr, Im going to fit an r32, plan to do it early 2009. If I can save up enough and in time I will try and source an r36. So it will be r32/36 with SEAT steering rack, clean bay(not uber smooth yet) What I will do is build the r32 setup off the car, ie on the subframe in the garage. I'm hoping to have a short down time during the swap. This is because my car is my only transport so will be rellying on public transport to get to work, boo!! Anyway, I have a question to start this build off, should i go: Standard R32 ECU and have it de-immobilised, and a few other tweaks. I'm hoping this would keep costs down and keep the running of the engine as OE as possible. In otherwords smooth, and reliable After market ECU and run big power possibility at a later date. only issue is when fitted would it take ages to get it running right and will this be much more expensive than using OE ecm? Im sure many more questions will come soon as I start getting parts together. Ive read the posts on the conversion but it has left me with a few issues that I will face when starting the build.

What mk2 golf gti 16v can be tranfered over to a corrado?
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Drivetrain
iirc I had to cut the middle hanger on one side to clear the exhaust. The rear hanger I used a long bolt and transferred the hanger from the golf. Was a very easy swap anyway. Just for further info, the exhaust which used to be on the 1.8 16v golf, then went onto the corrado 16v and is now mated up to the vr6 engine i put in not long back. wonder if it will fit the r32 downpipe (planned early 2009) .....lets see -
What mk2 golf gti 16v can be tranfered over to a corrado?
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Drivetrain
Just to update this post in case anyone needed the info. Parts I transfered or found out that I could transfer from a 1989 mk2 golf gti 16v to a 1993 corrado 16v where: Scorpion Full exhaust system ( from down pipe to rear box) - had to adjust a few hangers but nothing major Wheels Suspension Brakes (G60 Versions)
