  1. I took the slave cylinder off for an engine change but now cant get it to fit back on. I accidentally pressed the clutch pedal down, so think its pushed the inner part of the cilnder out, can this be pushed back in? i tried to push but is very stiff, do i need to do something to push it back in?
  2. In particular need a picture of the hose configuration near the fuel pressure regulator valve. I also have something missing in that area, looks like it was threaded on. and pictures of the hose arrangment from the servo to the engine.
  3. Im converting my vr6 to 4 stud by using 16v parts. Driven out the hub but now im unsure which bearing to use when fitting the 4 stud hub into the carrier. any one got any ideas? are the bearings the same size, and the vr is just better built? or are they different?
  4. another thing, what are the differences with vr and 16v bearings?
  5. Im doing a 5 stud to four stud conversion on my vr ive changed the hubs round so that i have 4 stud hubs in the vr hub housing, now i know that the vr's driveshaft splines are different to the 16v splines, so how do i get round this? are the 16v driveshafts the same length as the vr's so its a basic swap over? or do i need to swap over the 16v cv joint onto the vr's driveshaft? thanks
  6. Im gettting very close to finishing a VR tranplant, but am unsure which pipes/hoses i have missing. And Im unsure how they all fit in the vr engine bay. could anyone help me with detialed pictures of all the pipe and how they connect? many thanks
  7. hmm that seems likely, will try and source one now
  8. Why would anyone do this? I ask because I bought an engine a while back, and only had chance to check it yesterday and it seems that they bypassed the cooler with a bit of metal piping. is it something to worry about?
  9. £20!!! wow thats expensive, well i think it is
  10. Is this a dealer only part? GSF reckon it is.
  11. Can i get round this problem by changing the linkage between the steering box and colum to a vr spec one? or will this not fit a 16v steering column? trying to keep the conversion as oe as possible
  12. Cool thanks strange how you say that the vr uses banjo attatcthment, my VR powersteering pump is the screw thread type. so i can use the same pipework. or do you mean at the steering rack end the attatchments are different?
  13. hmm, thats makes it difficult to figure out, can someone tell me the length of a VR6 steering rack, ball joint to ball joint please. I will then measure mine. ta
  14. Is it possible? what are the differences? Im guessing the track rod ends may be different but can they be changed if they are? will post the rado vag numbers as soon as i can.
  15. ive hear i need to go through the chassis arm, is this correct?
  16. has anyone done it? whats involved, any hints and tips?
  17. Looking good Andy. Cant wait to see her in person.
  18. can this be done at home or is it a mechanic only job as I kknow these parts are drivenn tightly into the uprights.
  19. righ its been a while since i put up this post and thouught I best say something a little more about the car. when bought: 2.0 16v 9A Aqua Blue 1992 140k full service history standard all round Bought it April 2006 afterr selling my mk2 golf 16v. I have spent a lot of time and too much money to get it to what you see. heres what she was like when i got her home after buying her from bogner reigis and her original interior ill try and post a few more pics and details to get this up to date. im in the middle of converting to a vr6, looking back would have been better to buy a vr6. oh well :)
  20. someone told me this can sometimes be down to worn dampers. causes the wheels to vibrate up and down more than they shoould or something along those lines
  21. basically have all the parts to do a proper vr6 conversion, but my wheels are four stud so i wish to keep the old hubs (16v) inside the vr6 uprights. this allows the wider track im after
  22. Thanks ChrisP for verifying what I had hope, And thanks cheesewire for making sure i was right on my terminology. So by the looks of it i can do a straight swap?
  23. no i need to know about the hubs, not the uprights. the hubs is what holds the wheel and they also rotate on bearings.
  24. I have 2.0 16v hubs in my uprights, but i want to fit vr6 hubs into them. is it possible. are they the same size? i know it sounds a strange thing to do but i have my reasons
  25. does the fuel pump sound louder than normal? there are two, one under the mid of the car and the other in the fuel tank my old car had one pack in and it caused alot of juddering and bad driving. cheapest is teh fuel tank pump. mine turned out to be the one in the tank
