  1. khurrado, was saying he thinks that the late 2.0 16v rear subframe is the same as the VR one. Only difference is that the wish bones are wider on a vr. could anyone verify this? im still digging
  2. eatthis, mine is the bulge type like which is the same as a vr. later 16v were lucky enough to get these
  3. cool, think thats it for now many thanks CorradoVR6-n.o.s, now i do know everything :D
  4. sorry, didnt make clear. I was told it must be a corrado vr6 part, not a golf vr6 part.
  5. checked ETKA, as far as i can see one crossmember is same on both engine types, only difference with the two set ups are the subframes and the other crossmember. i was told that the cross member must be corrado is that true? also i guesse my driveshafts can cope for a little while till i change to vr ones?
  6. i dont have the fuse board diagram, but did come across a link to the canadian forum showing wriring diagrams http://www.corrado-club.ca/ the fuse board in my car is most likely early type, so i think this may cause problems thanks for your advice, greatly apreciated.
  7. lol, everything i know about this conversion is from what ive read on here. just need reasuring i have researched correctly, always good to check im going to do it right first time
  8. I have started a project of fitting a 2.9 vr engine into my 1992 16v corrado. This rado i have is a little strange as its early wiring but late body as they must have raided the spare parts bin. So far I have: ABV 2.9L Engine Inlet Manifold (Polished with black inners) Gearbox Alternator Aircon Compressor Powersteering Pump New Serpine Belt Engine Loom ECU Coilpack Brand New Bosch Sparkplugs HT leads All Water Hoses Expansion tank Very large Rad (slightly damadged but not leaking) Airflow Meter and Inlet pipe (no airfliter) Exhaust manifolds and downpipe Almost new Clutch fitted Drive Shafts Hubs Brakes So my questions are: 1).What else do I need to get? ie cross member, wire loom etc. want to make as standard as possible. 2).Can you tell me if the parts i need to get can be taken off other cars, or rado's only. 3).Is the loom from the vr a straight plug in to the 16v fuse panel? or will i need to rewire stuff? bit worried about this. 4).Which is the best/easiest way to do the conversion 5) unusual tools needed for conv? i have a good selection but anything i may not have? 6). any other hints tips, info or links would be very usefull. Ive searched on here but nothing is tellling me exactly what else I need, thanks Sam
  9. they still do the lenses, but they have to order them in, bought mine a month ago. thats when i found out my reflector was naff
  10. where can i get the shorter springs and dampers? I'll cut and rethread the rod to avoid bottoming out. what are tuning helpers? are tehy like the normal helpers but just stiffer? thanks
  11. My cheap coilovers dont lower enough so I was wondering can you get the springs from somewhere which enable the car to sit lower and wont have drop out problems? Something like jamex springs which have helper springs
  12. Is it possible to refurb the reflector part in the lamps? There must be someone out there with the tech to do it. mine are faded pretty bad. thanks
  13. I had this problem on my mk2 golf 16v. Had fuel filter changed, no different, had main fuel pump changed no difference (also bloody expensive), pi55ed me off because the kangarooing was pretty violent and caused driving to be dangerouse. finally found out that there's a lift pump in the tank, was a cheap replacement and sorted out the problem
  14. mines pretty low but what i do is use the standard car jack from the boot and raise it enought to get the hydraulic jack under neath properly.
  15. sorry dont know of any, i learnt from word of mouth and buying some bad ones thats the best way to learn how not to bget another one like it lol basically i would say rust is the biggest worry, anything too bad then walk away. i looked at one the other day that looked mint and was going cheap £700, but was rotten. so be warned, good luck. if you like i can give you my mobile and we can talk on phone, pm me if you like
  16. ive bought a few beetles in the past. for £750 the beetle may be rotten so you will end up spending £1000's just on geting it up to standard. not sure of any buying guides main problems is the heater channels esp near where they get close to the rear wheel. we picked up our current one for £2600 and thats an import 96 model, looks exactly the same as a 1972 beetle but has injection, disc brakes, metalic paint and also the running gear aint "old"
  17. I used the passat estate moon roof, best fit for the rado, but also hardest to find in my past experience. Complete unit including panel fitted as a replacement piece. Also used elec version I have no trouble with leaks. but i know the roof can be adjusted. First make sure the whole frame is correctly fittedso that the moonroof sits dead centre to the rados sunroof hole. then if you still have probs it may need slight adjusting either using spacers or turning some bolts on the roofs mech. do a search about adjustments
  18. what does it look like underneath? was it noticeable from there?
  19. cool cheers. parts im getting are mainly the engine area
  20. Would a seat toledo 1995 air con system fit into a corrado? i cant find etka info on seats
  21. Tools Used Mole Grips Hacksaw Socket set Jack Stands WD40 (soaked all the bolts the night before) Screw Drivers (for levering things) Hammer (AKA Engineers Adjusting Tool) Parts Used Various Rubber Exhaust Hangers New Exhaust Clamps Mk2 Golf rear box hanger A long bolt for lowering the rear hanger slightly.
  22. if your changing just the back box, i dont know if a aftermarket golf box would fit a standard corrado part. youd have to get a box and compare it i think. like i said my golf system fitted to my corrado but i dont know if thats just due to the way scorpion built it. best way is to compare systems before taking parts off, if they look very similar theres a good chance it can be persuaded into place. i also took great care not to damage my original system incase it all went a bit pete tong.
  23. you on about c/l? if i remember correctly i used the possitive trigger locking diagram for wiring up the c/l im sure that the auto close wire (poss white if i remember correctly) is possitive when engaged add me to msn if you want and i may be able to work it out with you
  24. I have had Toad Ai606 and ive had no problems with them. can add a few gadgets to it too. One option is remote start, but its not covered by insurances so didnt select it.
