When i changed my head i rebuilt it. So i was able to have it skimmed while all the valves where out. The cost of skimming was about £30 if i remember right. im not sure if you can skim a head while parts are still attatched (doubt it really). So you got to think about labour time to strip the head too. i guesse a mechanic can get a head off in 3-4hours strip it in an hour. rebuild it will take slightly longer so hopefully about 11hours labour so on the guesse they charge £25+vat labour then labour costs should be about £275+vat if all goes well. head gasket kit and bolts from a good supplier will be in the region of £50 -£70 and skimming about £30-50. both inc vat I would say then that, the quote seems good. Hours of labour depends on my experience of changing my first head. And this also included me changing the cam belt. hope this helps

I have grey interior and have managed to get old oil and grease on the carpet. is it possible to get it out or is it a lost cause?

not sure but i think its something to do with putting the motor on the sunroof mech when its in a certain position.

In my case; The engine is smooth. idles fine and revs freely. its not missing. the feeling is almost as if some one is applying the handbrake very slightly then releasing it. (prob those squirrels again). i dont think the brakes are warped or seized but will check that soon. the mounts on mine are solid as were changed by previouse owner recently. ta

Act mine can be described as that too. Cus it feels that its hunting for the speed. ie slow fast fast slow etc.

When i drive along slowly it feels like the car is surging slightly. As if it tries to accelerate but then backs off. Hard to explain really. Where should i start looking to sort this? Im wondering if a good service will sort it out, or i need to set it up correctly? if it needs setting up is it the same principle as 1.8 16v kr engines? thanks

how much do you guys think it would cost for a body shop to do the rear smoothing? Also Need arch redoing as previous owner smacked it and didnt get it fixed properly. any idea on costs?

Ive heard this can be done but was told the rates are different. how bad will this feel when driving? Also are the rates to do with the dampers or the springs. Or both? thanks

well im thinkin of either selling or breaking my golf so if i do dismantle it i will have a set of cams spare

Im pretty sure this can be done but want to make sure before i do it. I have a spare set of cams from my other car and will swap it into my C but i know that my C is not a KR block will this cause a problem with the change? How much gain should I expect from this cam change? thanks

are the fuse boxes all the same in corrado's? I only ask as in the future i may have an engine swap (most likely a 1.8t) and want to keep rewiring to a minimum. also do the wires on early spec dash match late spec dash? thanks

Are the badges just glued on or are they attatched with pins. same goes with door strip. I want to know so I can remove them. thanks
