  1. this sounds the same prob as mine, i think its my lambda probe thats gone. just bought one from GSF and will fit it to my car soon. fingers crossed it will sort it out. my plugs are slightly white
  2. ive had this before, first try hammering a hex bolt into it (star shape thing) this may enable you to turn the screw. if not then drill it out. The only reason the screww is there is to keep the wheel bolt holes in place so making it easier to change the wheel. You could replace it if u want but it wont be a problem if u leave it out. hope that helps
  3. right had the weekend to look at my rado. Tried a different isv this made no difference, also mine didnt have the black ignition madule so doubt its kjet Tried unplugging the lambda probe and this didnt make any difference to the running, so im thinking this is the culprit. Just want some unbiased input.

    fuse box

try under the steering wheel, by ur feet. its in the car manual
  6. hmm might try that out this weekend, just got some parts off a mate to see if it will sort it out i have spare lambda, isv and fuel reg and i have a golf too lol ill let you know monday how it goes
  7. sorry which little black thing? do you mean the ecu resistor? i have a golf mk2 16v can i use it off that?
  8. it cant be dizzy as i have placed a new one on there. Im leaning towards the lambda probe idea what do these normally cost?
  9. I missed out on that ecu too, ebay went down just before i could bid on it. i dont think its mechanical in a sense, reckon its more ignition related. may try and borrow and ecu off someone to see if it sorts it out. Also my exshaust does seem to be blowing, what does this have to do with the lambda probe?

    BK299 refurb

I want to refurbish my bk299's and want to replace the crappy fake bolts with decent ones. Does anyone know if the ones in the wheel are actualy threaded into the wheel or just pressed in? Any good ideas on how to get them out? I was tempted to drill them out, thread the holes. paint the face black and polish up the outside while replacing bolts with decent bbs style ones.
  11. Its hard to explain this one but ill try. My car starts up fine, and generally runs great except when im doing city driving. The problem seems to happen in lower gears and travelling quite slow. For eg i can be driving fine at 4000rpm in second but when im travelling at 3000rpm the problem crops up. its annoying cus the car does alot of buking. The car seems to misfire, almost as if it wants to stall, but as soon as i put my foot down to accelerate the problem disapears until i return to 3k Dont know how else to explain it. And no its not because i have got the car in the wrong gear. I have ideas that it could be the lambda probe being faulty as my spark plugs look as if they are running rich. Should i disconnect the lambda probe to see if this is the prob. if so where do i disconnect it? Im also worried it could be the ecu, could water/age have effected this part? What about the isv, i doubt it would be this cus i thought this only helped with idle. Or do you reckon its just a case of basic setup? ie timing, mixture? Would really appreciate any help as this problem is really annoying and no one seems to have a clue. thanks
  12. i have and old and new dash lying next to me, and the attachments for the centre frame and air vents are in the same places. so you dont need a new dash you got any spare late frames? the part that holds the stereo and vent controls? worth asking
  13. anyone got these spare? ive ordered off the stealers but they are a fortune for what they are
  14. if its not abs then i would guesse the breaks are warped. the pedal dropping to the floor seems to be with the servo, possible that one of the seals inside keeps moving out of position when your breaking hard. I suggest you take it to a mechanic if you dont know whats wrong. as breaks are v important to get right.
  15. how the hell did they do that damage while getting the stereo out!!?? proves thieves have no brains
  16. seems good value. im likewise and wouldnt mind giving this a go
  17. damn unlucky bud, hope it gets sorted soon
  18. hi, im gonna try and change my dash on the weekend if i have time. if i do do it ill let you know how i found it

    Bowden cable

im just about to convert my dash from early to late. just wondering if the bowden cables are the same. also are the electrical wires the same? i know the connections are different anything else i need to know before i do the change? thanks
  20. doubt it will be this but on my golf 16v it had similar symptons. turned out to be a bad earth on the head. wire snapped off due to engine movements. worth a look?
  21. hi and welcome, nice picture. it may go for a calender vote.
  22. i think they do, the only difference i know is that the wire is longer on the corrado version, so you may need to extend the wiring. someone may correct me on that
