  1. Etka says the seal on the elbow is 31x3.2mm. The one I used from this set was 31x3.5mm so it's actually fractionally thicker in theory. Fitted a treat for me and sealed 100% (even when I pressure tested the system at 30psi by mistake).
  2. You got off lightly. I wanted one urgently so I bought this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/metric-o-ring-set-419-pc/27385 So that was four hundred and fecking eighteen more o-rings than I actually needed. :)
  3. The o-ring on the elbow is a flat profile not a round profile? You're probably right. But the original one is apparently obsolete now at VW so I had no choice but to use a standard o-ring which fitted a treat and sealed perfectly. Unfortunately I had to buy a huge selection box from Screwfix to get the right size so I've got one or two spares now.
  4. The rubber seal for the elbow is a fairly standard sized rubber o-ring. If you get stuck for one then PM me and I'll send you one.
  5. I've been looking for a perfect late grill too, over the last couple of months. I thought I'd be able to pick one up for twenty quid off ebay but had no luck. It seems the going rate on there is somewhere between 40-50 quid inc postage. I rang VW Heritage yesterday and ordered a brand new 'VW Classic Parts' one for £57 delivered.
  6. Part number is 021-103-493A and I'm afraid it's obsolete at VW dealers now. I found this out a couple of weeks ago and after a bit of Googling I found that http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/shop/ do it. I had to order via VW Heritage (http://www.vwheritage.com/) who said it would be 2-3 weeks delivery and it cost me about 22 quid inc delivery.
  7. "this pipe (pump to accumulator-fuel) is being a bit of a pain to find" Your local hydraulics company should have no problem making one up from braided hose.
  8. Yes. It should just tap easily into place. I don't know what access is like but on Beetles I used to pop the bush on the end of a big bolt with a big nut on it and tap it in with that.
  9. I don't suppose you've still got this up for grabs have you?
  10. I was 40 in January. Had a Tornado Red 1.8 16v from '98-'02 followed by my Flash Red VR6 which I will probably keep forever. 14 years of owning a Corrado. No wonder I'm losing my hair.
  11. I found which sensor was faulty on mine with a multimeter. Set meter to read resistance, find where the sensor is plugged in (fronts- under bonnet on inner wing near strut top, rears- under back seat cushions), disconnect and put meter across the sensor side of the plug. With the car jacked up spin the wheel by hand and see if there's any difference showing on the meter. When I did mine three of them showed a difference and the nearside front showed nothing at all so was faulty. Replaced it with one from GSF for next to fook-all and never had a problem since.
  12. Christ on a bike. It's nine years today since I updated this thread and my Corrado is still just the same. I took it for an MOT today and it sailed through which shouldn't be a surprise as it'd only done 173 miles in the year! I promise to use it more this year.
  13. I wouldn't worry about it mate. Mine came with everything we needed and was an absolute piece of cake to fit. Can't remember exactly what was in the fitting kit but I know we were over the moon with how easy it all was, and we didn't have to go huting for extra clamps and rubbers from anywhere.
  14. Has anybody on here replaced the hinge pins on their driver door? I've got a bit of play in my bottom hinge so I want to replace the pin. Do VW use a special tool to press it out or is it just a case of swinging a hammer at it to punch it out?
  15. My VR6 was rather tail happy when the rear axle bushes were shot as was my mates 16 valver. Not a very nice job to do though. I had to take the complete back axle off to do mine but I think volkswagen have a special tool that presses them out with the axle attached if you can beg one from somewhere. 8)
  16. I've used H&R springs myself and always found them to be superb. I got mine direct from them importers, Motorsport Wheels in Leeds. 0113-218-8777. :D
  17. Dunno but mine does the same. Never worried about it. Maybe I ought to? :D
  18. Yeah, shame the weathers sh1te at the moment. Taking my Corrado to the peak district for the weekend. Don't like taking her out in the rain. I'll get me polished wheel arches filthy. :D
  19. Nice to hear you're pleased with it. It looked superb. Did we cure the exhaust knock? I've posted those stainless tailpipes for your Bug today too. They might need a bit of the old elbow grease but they'll never rust. 8) I hope you're gonna clean the Corrado before you take these pictures?
  20. Got this:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2454715885&category=9889&rd=1 I did have the complete set of these genuine manuals but nearly sold em all now. Can't see the Derby in the classifieds though my son? Are you teasing me?
  21. Afraid so, it's really me. Another Derby? I didn't think there was any more still alive? Don't tempt me. Me lock-ups full. Is it any good? Cheers for the cheque mate. I'll get this manual bunged in the post ASAP. :D
  22. No, no , no. Carry on bumping the price up. I got a cracking price for my bodywork manual, ta very much. I've gotta pay for me new Beetle engine somehow. (lennylogknob) :D 8)
  23. Get yerself a Magnex. It comes in two sections. Chop the old one off with a gas axe and voila!
  24. Got in me Corrado last night for the first time in 3 weeks and found the drivers footwell was somewhat moist. Any tips?
