  1. caiosg60 -- i got them from a place called south coast wheels, they have been trading for as long as i can remember, pretty good service selbekk -- no accident damage mate, just re bushing and brake replacement etc, you know how it goes. you just keep on buying more and more parts that look a bit shabby whilst yer under the car. the wheels cost a grand total of £450..not to bad a price i thought vwcvr6 -- 2 to 3 weeks and they will be a rolling, i`ll post up pics when finished
  2. oh yes they are :thumbleft:
  3. well, thankyou for your kind comments everyone ! i was kinda expecting a more mixed reaction tbh, the old "girl" is having a rear end rebuild at the moment and will hopefully ( time permitting ) be on the road in the next 2 - 3 weeks, more than enough time to get some tyres sorted and i will post some pics with the new rims.....i realy appreciate your comments one and all, cheers :thumbleft:
  4. this is the first set of brand new wheels i`ve ever bought, i usually end up with someone elses castoffs, i know they wont be to everyones taste but i like them.....the size is 15 x 8 et 25
  5. my dub dealer ( peter coopers ) are miserable bleeders, parts people have no sense of humour ( if you skim over the prices they want you to pay ) and i just cant trust anyone who cant appreciate a laugh, i think the company has a streak on discontent running through it usually brought on by "nasty" from the top that bleeds down to the shop floor....the only reason i use them is the fact that they are 2 minutes drive from me :( edit: we also bought a nice tdi bora from these people and the salesman we had is a total b*llsh*tter, this resulted in us having to bring the car back 4 times for work not carried out
  6. certainly looks like it. not a problem, i know what it`s like to be completely stuck :thumbleft:
  7. hello double 6s, still having problems ? if you are really stuck i could pop round either later today or tommorow morning and help you get the fecker on
  8. .......i suppose it makes a change from " old t*rts "
  9. i`d get one of those parts places to drop one off to you with their little vans - usually all in on the price
  10. kind of, as long as the amperage was low, the starter drags loads out of the battery were as a electric window wouldnt depends what you mean by "dead " though, below par or completely sh*gged
  11. hello mate, if it is a standard round grommet then they can be bought for pennies from hardware stores, engineering supplies etc, hop thats of some help :thumbleft:
  12. you could follow the positive lead from the battery,it bolts right on to the starter :thumbleft: without starship enterprise technology ( beam in / beam out ) i cant do much more fella, how about a taxi ? :)
  13. you really neeed to replace/clean up the earth cable between the engine and body edit: you may well have to replace the brake hose if it got too hot...just to be safe like
  14. hello mate, it might well be the contacts in the solenoid unit, the starter solenoid pulls in to pre engage with the flywheel and then makes the heavy duty electrical contact in the solenoid to spin the starter over, if the starter has been well behaved ( no sluggishness ) and no problem at all then it may just require taking apart and cleaning--on the bad side it could be goosed :( , i take it you made sure the batery and terminals are ok ?, i once had a similar problem on a mates car when the problem was due to a bad earth -- i just connected a jump lead to the earth of the battery on to the engine and hey presto  the main earth lead between body and engine being the problem---give it a go
  15. looks like it might be a tad uncomfortable driving it, what with the jet sucking all the air out of the cabin :batman:
  16. nice sump mate, shame about the paper though :(
  17. quote "Because ARP studs are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned". the above quote is from the arp website, i dont suppose some one has "gone up a size " in head studs but not taken the drillings in the cylinder head out to match but just used the natural tolerance that was already there ( albeit tight ) leading to the problem you have now -- just a suggestion
  18. this is a bit extreme mate, i`ve never had a head this stubborn before - the popping you heard, was there a small cloud of smoke from the exhaust manifold area at the same time ? it might of been the oil igniting under compression ( i hope ). i think the studs will have to come out bob, is it possible to weld a nut on to the top of the stud to try and screw the bugger out ?
  19. it`s got that......inbred look about it, it`s the equivilent of wanting to get noticed by dropping yer trousers in tesco`s
  20. i`d baulk at paying any more tha £450 for any reg plate tbh
  21. my mate did the same kind of thing with passat and golf badging to spell out t.o.s.s.p.o.t on the back of his golf, each to there own i guess.
