The late bonnet DOES just bolt straight on to an earlier car. The front wings are only different in the arch area, not where the bonnet meets them. The headlamps and grill (and slam panel if you're being picky ;) ) are different, but either early or later ones can be used with either bonnet.

I'm interested in a full smoked set... just need to have a look and see what they'll look like on a pearl grey Corrado to make sure I like 'em... :|
-
This'll be a 2.8 VR6 then?
-
Phil K, nah, wasn't a wasted journey... I ended up buying a Corrado from Milton Keynes on the way back anyway! 8) There wasn't anything wrong with the green G60 he was selling, it just wasn't upto what I wanted from a Corrado... He's in Eton, just about half a mile from the boys school... M777CUSGTI, I had a quick poke around it... 109K miles and looked rather tidy to be honest... it was parked in front of the green one on the road... Didn't have a proper look around it though, as I was tired and only wanted to have a look at G60s... 8)

check that all of the brakets which hold the gear cables onto the gearbox are TIGHT... I found that the main one on J-DUB would come slightly adrift when warm and I'd have a similar problem to the one you describe... :|
-
it drove like a nice new G60, really nice and tight... but there's paint and dents on just about EVERY panel apart from the roof... :| Oh, and the sunroof was shagged too... Not what I was looking for, although not a rip off for the money... Oh, but the service history left something wanting too... :| If you're good at body work, it'd be worth doing, but I'm after one with mint(ish) bodywork that I can lob my engine into and start having some fun again... ;) 8)

Email the guy at BAR-TEK. I'd be suprised if he'll not be able to sort you out with all the pipes you need... 8)

Got a mixture of Halfords Pro, Sykes Pickavant (who make the halfords stuff anyway) and some japaneese sounding sockets I've had for years which I don't seem to be able to break... 8)
-
Yup, that's what I thought... 8) If it's as it is on the advert, I don't give a damn about the engine 'cos I'll be swapping my engine out of J-DUB into it (as well as the brakes, suspension, intercooler, leather etc etc etc ;) ) so as long as the body and history are straight, I'm on a winner... ;) Jim, will do matey! ;) Watch out for a maniac in a black Punto flying down the motorway pretending to be in something worth driving! ;)

M777CUSGTI, Yeah, he started off being a bit vauge, and then I asked a couple of questions that may have tipped him off a little about what I know about G60 corrados...  He was very forthcoming after that and seemed friendly and honest about the car and it's condition... ;) joebloggsVR69, Dunno mate, I'll look into that now.... Thanks for the memory jog... 8) jimsG60, Ta... Will do, hence this thread! ;) 8) At the end of the day, I need a new car PDQ as I'm having to pay out nearly £100 a week at the moment for a hire car so I can get to work.... I REALLY want another Corrado G60, and there's only 4 or 5 I can find for sale which meet my criteria and this is one of them.... Looks like I'm in for a shitty journey down the motorways in a Punto 1.2 tomorrow then... :? :( Wish me luck! ;) 8)
-
yeah, that's the bunny.... I called him today, he seemed OK, and sussed out PDQ that I knew my Corrado (wonder what gave it away?!? ;) ) and didn't try to feed me any BS... He deals from home, which isn't neccesarily a bad thing, I just wondered if anyone had come across them before so I don't waste 340 miles in a Punto ( :pukeleft: ) to go and see what could be a shed... :|
-
I know that John (16VG60) advises using the later camber adjuster bolts when you lower a corrado to ensure that the camber can be set spot on to your requirements.... I had a set on J-DUB and without them wouldn't have been able to run the camber I ran with.... ;)

I'm about to head off on the 170 mile trip down to Windsor to go and have a look at a rather nice G60 (or at least, nice from the advert) and wondered if anyone had heard of these guys? The car sounds good (Dragon green late'92 G60 all original, and decent history) but I was wondering if anyone else knew of this dealer as he seems to have a couple of Corrados on his site... :? Lemme know ASAP please, I'm setting off at about 9:30 am on the 29th to go and have a look! :) Ta! 8)

*cough* She's a deputy headmistress, and is applying for Headships at the moment... ;)

Yeah yeah... we're both going on a diet in January... I've only put on half a stone (still over 2 stone lighter than this time last year! :? ) but it seems to have all gone onto my face and chin... :(
-
time for an update! :) Me (looking smart for once!) and my girlfriend, Sharon... Oh, and one of her dog Bruce too... :)
-
Getting together with my Lady (Sharon) has to be the best bit of this year, closely followed by all of the events I took J-DUB to and meeting all of you lot at the shows! :D Great year.... Let's hope 2005 is even better (and I don't write off another C... :| )

I bought new polarising film from the link in my previous post... ;) 8) I lightly scuffed it with some find sandpaper to make it matt rather than reflective, and I rewired the LCDs lights so that they were on with the ignition so that they really stood out well no matter how bright it was outside... 8)
-
Greenweld sells it in strips. One strip will do both LCDs, but you need to cut it out at a 45degree angle from the strip so that it will cut out the light properly.... (it's due to the way the LCD's crystals are orientated... ;) )
-
hey! that was my line! ;)
-
just buy a roll of lighting gel (it's actually a film, not a gel... don't ask why it's called gel though...) from somewhere like maplins... you get to choose your colour and don't have to fart about with flattening out sweet wrappers
-
a bit like this? ;)

The thermostat on a G60 is in the waterpump... :|

Chipping a normal motor will make no difference...
Henny replied to G100extreme's topic in Engine Bay
just to throw another log into this fire... I'd NEVER buy a standard "off the shelf" map chip for an engine... EVERY engine is different, even those built by the same person at the same time... If I wanted to chip a car, I'd get a custom chip written on a rolling road so that you KNOW that the chip is spot on for your engine and is producing the optimum power from the components you have... Any other "off the shelf" chip is going to have too many compromises and assumptions in the map burnt into it... -
I built mine in my garage... just make sure that you sweep up any concrete dust off the floor a good day or so before you start the build so there's none in the air to contaminate the bearings/shells and make sure you cover the engine up with a clean cloth when you leave it overnight. ALSO, If you put in a nut or bolt, TIGHTEN IT to the correct torque.... NEVER just put a bolt in loosely and leave it, 'cos it's too easy to then forget to tighten it. I ALWAYS make sure that I have no interruptions when I'm doing engine work with nothing to rush me and make me forget anything and work in a methodical planned way. This ensures you don't forget anything or make any silly errors. Plenty of breaks at set points in the build to ensure you're not getting tired, and if you're starting to get frustrated with a part which won't do what you want it to do, leave it, get a drink, chill out for a few minutes and then go back to it... 8) aide, the warm bit is so that YOU are comfortable! ;) A happy worker is more likely to get the job done right than one who's shivering and got numb fingers! ;) IMHO, The tollerances on a VW engine aren't close enough for the differences in UK temps to make much of a difference... ;)
