    g60 top speed

I got an indicated 142mph (139.8 GPS actual!) on the same day as Jim and also ran out of runway... she wasn't pulling hard anymore but was still pulling a little, so I reckon 145ish absolutely balls to the wall... 133 top with 17-19mpg sounds like a dead blue temp or lambda sender to me...

    SONY MEX-1HD

yup, the NEW units will, but this isn't a brand new model line... :|
  3. Alan H. Schofield supplies just about any body panel you'll need for your camper... definately someone whose contact details are essential for a camper owner! 8)

    Boot space

Dunno Dazzy, depends if your heater matrix bursts or not... you could always just go fishing in the passenger footwell if it does!
  5. isn't it a bit unfair lumping all the colours together into blues, reds etc when there are 9 different blues and 6 different reds, but only 2 of most of the other colours... :? just a thought...

    SONY MEX-1HD

you'll have to rip all of your CDs onto the head unit into ATRAK3 format (which, frankly, blows goats) as the internal HDD won't store MP3s... this is the same as Sony's NetMD player/recorders.... The idea is great but, again, Sony's messed it up with it's own file format and little/no support for the major MP3/WMA formats... Do they do any other makes with similar spec, as these'd probably be much better to use... 8) Risk wise, anything coming off ebay (especially from abroad) is a slight risk, but they've got some good feedback ratings and if you pay via credit card, you should be able to get some form of insurance with that... 8)
  7. coilovers usually have an assister spring which pretty much does away with the need for bumpstops... 8)

    Starting from cold

try disconnecting the 5th injector... could be full of crud and jammed open... ;) Also worth doing a quick'n'dirty flow test on the other injectors with a jamjar.... 8) There's some useful info HERE
  9. if the part number is the same, it's gonna be wound the same way around 'cos it'll be identical... that's what the part numbers are there for! I'd suspect that there's a problem somewhere else if non of the motors are working... have you checked for power to the plug?
  10.  8) That tickled me a little more than it probably should have done...

    G60 Run in

Ain't that just the truth... :? Out of the problems I've had with my car over the last year and a bit, only 1 of 'em has been caused by a lack of knowledge rather than an actual material failure... :| I'm with Gav here... get the head on!

    speedo resetting

speedo needle actually rests BELOW the end stop... on the 3 that I've done, (2x G60 and 1x VR6) the needle tends to point at the part of the dial edge where the flat bit meets the curved bit when at rest... you then can carefully flick the end of the needle over the end stop so it rests against it properly... 8) Rev counter varies quite a bit in my experience.... I cheated when I did mine and wired the lot back up without the counter's needle or the cover on, started the car in the hidden MFA mode and then put the needle on with the revs at exactly 1000 rpm on the MFA! ;) 8) The temp and fuel gauge needles will only go on in one position... 8)
  16. A recent survey (just happened to notice it in the newsroom at work) reckons that average milage is between 14K and 16K miles on new cars now...
  17. There's definitely a couple around Manchester... ;) 8)
  18. The wheel sensors are a VERY fine coiled strand of metal wire... they have a habit of breaking along this strand which can cause intermittent ABS faults... The reason they are intermittent is very similar to how you can get a lightbulb to work again once it's blown by shaking it until the ends just touch and weld themselves back together. The self test shoves some voltage through the sensors to check for continuity and resistance, this can cause the coil to reconnect and pass the self test. The vibration as you are driving along can then cause the coil's break to re-open and therefore put the light back on again... This doesn't always happen, but when it does it can be a real PITA to find the fault!

    Boot space

yeah, I only found out when I got my G60 and the sub box I used to have in my 1.8 16V won't fit in the same position 'cos the boot floor is higher... :| Bought a basslink instead and haven't looked back! ;) 8)

    Boot space

Actually, that's not quite true.... The later models have a SMALLER boot due to having a larger fuel tank (15Gal rather than 12) which raised up the boot floor slightly. That's the reason they had a space-saver spare 'cos otherwise you'd have lost nearly all of your boot space 'cos of the hump in the carpet! :| Best combination is an early car (12gal petrol tank) with a space saver and flat carpet... should give you LOTS of room in the boot then
  21. if you have the mechanical milage counter (rather than 2 LCD panels on the clocks) then the speed sensor is built into the back of the clocks themselves... 8)
  22. GazzaG60, 8) That's the figure that Elliot told me on the day... I've yet to see it in writing myself and rest assured that she'll be doing Pod and York next season again 'cos I had sooooo much fun last time! 8) Also aiming to do more track and sprint sessions as well... that's why I built her afterall! 8)
  23. that blue plugin sensor on the inlet manifold (you don't have a fuel rail as such, hence all the pipes! ;) ) is the 5th injector... maybe worth disconnecting that to see if it makes any difference to the economy as they do sometimes leak causing overfuelling...

    Axel Bushes

they can be replaced with powerflex (or similar) poly bushes, but you will loose the passive rear steering effect that the Corrado has when fitted with OE bushes... General consensus on the forum is that the VAG bushes last for around 10 years anyway and allow the rear steer, so why upgrade? 8)
  25. fuel mixture adjust screw is down that little tube on top of the metering head, just by where all of the fuel pipes attach... 8) Sounds like your fuel thermo switch may have popped it's clogs... :| Do KR engines have a blue temp sensor? I can't remember it's so long since I worked on one... If it does, then it may be that this has died and needs replacing... 8)
