To be brutally honest, IMHO there isn't anyone in the NW that has as good a reputation as Vince and the mob at Stealth... :| That's why I trekked all the way down there with my gearbox to get it rebuilt and would take it down to him again if anything else needed doing which was outside of my abilities... 8)
-
yup, GPC has the prices the wrong way around... I've just ordered my new 50mm one for my nice standard bumper again... 8)
-
ah, nuts... trust my car to be in bits at the moment... I work with Granada daily and now I've sold the RS4 front bumper she looks pretty much standard from the outside (except for wheels and rear lights... ;) )
-
the hazard warning switch is also different... ;) It's do-able, but I haven't done it, so I can't comment on how easy/hard it is to do.... :|
-
Looks great.... I'll move this into the gallery section... 8)

as you look from the front of the car, it's on the right hand side of the engine on top of the gearbox.

HIC do a mirroring policy where you can share your no-claims on a second car as long as you are the only driver (theory being that you can't drive 2 cars at once! ) Just watch out that their quote is a firm one as I've recently been stung by them wanting a LOT more on the renewal than they quoted me before I did the work to my engine...

I'm almost certain that the golf and the corrado rad support panels are identical which is why the Golf G60 intercooler is such a doddle to fit into a Corrado 'cos the mounts are already there! 8) New ones are extortionately expensive... :|
-
They are still available, but only from VAG... IIRC it was about £25 for the baffle... 8) Your old one WILL break if you try and take it off and refit it to a new pump...

OK, so yesterday I realised that the pistons needed a little bit of work before I could fit 'em as they aren't exactly the same as the ones which were in the engine when it was balanced... :| Today I've bought myself some electronic scales accurate to 0.5grams (or 1/10oz) and I'll be making sure that the new pistons are lightly modded to be the same weight as the pistons they are replacing so that the balancing that was done to the bottom end isn't screwed up by any extra weight in the new pistons... :| This is gonna be a little bit interesting to do, but should result in a nice smooth balanced engine again once I get her all built up... 8) I've also ported and flowed the throttle body that I got off Darren (G-Man) to replace my knackered one which was a lot of fun to do and looks like it should flow well with very little restriction.... 8) I'll lob some pics up tomorrow once I've sobered up from the night out that's about to happen! ;) 8) Oh, and the nice new inlet manifold mesh filter has been made and just needs a little tweaking to make sure it's spot on... no more risk of foreign objects breaking my engine again! :-P

Maplins sells lighting gel in rolls which are enormous and total overkill for the job, but are designed to take large amounts of heat and not melt or change colour... that's what I've used in mine... 8) What colours are you looking for Woody?

Corrado T-Shirts ideas/Pre-Production NEW DESIGNS IN! 10/11
Henny replied to Red=Fast's topic in General Car Chat
Don't G-Werks and Pitstop use the handle "G-Unit" when they're out on the beers at shows?!? ;) Me? I'd have one of those T-Shirts if they get made.... Large please... 8) -
YAY! The pistons just arrived! 8) Here's a pic of the little pile of bits I've got to replace... she's gonna basically be a new engine again, with all new shells and small ends too! This time there's gonna be a filter on the throttle body to stop any foreign objects getting into the engine! ;) Total cost for all the bits: £560 Total cost for hire car: £550 Total cost of the mesh to make the filter £1.95 from Halfords... The hindsight of wishing I'd have put a filter in the throttle body when I first built the engine... priceless...  With any luck, she should be back up and running before Monday.... :) 8) A HUGE Thanks to 16VG60 (John) for managing to get me this set of pistons... I know he's had to phone all sorts of places to get hold of 'em as the supply has just dried up entirely unless you want a couple of months wait! :(

it's a standard VDO sender range, so it should be one of these 2 standards: 10-180 ohms, 240 to 33 ohms
-
yup, mine's been sat like that for about 6 weeks now as I've stripped out the enginebay to allow better access to the block so I can fit the new pistons when they arrive... 8)

Corrados with mechanical speedos don't have that sensor, they have a drive cable which fits in the same place and drives the clocks directly exactly the same as on a Golf... 8)
-
sounds like a slightly dirty injector to me....
-
woody, nope, they're not quite the same... I think the calipers may be the same, but the disks on the Leon are bigger (325mm instead of 305mm) I've had no body mods done (as yet ;) ) and my wheels are fine over my brembos now I have spacers to allow 'em to clear the calipers... 8)
-
you really don't want to know what my cambers are set to! :?  Lets just say she turns into corners well... ;)
-
bcstudent, nope, they're a bi-metallic strip too, same as them all... it was only the speedo which got changed in a major way... 8)
-
I'm pretty certain there's just a single 10mm headed bolt just next to the cable to undo... you undo that, then the whole thing just pulls out of the gearbox... be VERY carefull not to disturb the gear on the end of the cable too much else it may fall off into the gearbox, at which point you're in a whole heap of trouble... :|

have a word with Bill over at Badger5, he'll be able to sort you out the bits you need from a complete kit to just a pipe... 8) http://www.badger5.co.uk

I did have, and they came with the Mintex 1144s that I had on there before the Brembos... 8)

Ok, your pics don't seem to be in the same order as your questions, but here we go... :) Green sludge will be a slight coolant weep from the plastic flange on the front of the head. Follow the top radiator hose to the engine and you'll see it connects onto a plastic bit with 2 sensors in it and another pipe off to the supercharger side leading down the front of the engine (onto the oil cooler and waterpump)... These flanges are renowned for leaking. Fortunately they're not expensive (around £25 If I Remember Correctly) you'll need a new flange and the O rings for the joint to the block and for below the 2 sensors too... A lot of people also change the sensors at the same time as they tend to fail after being dried out during the change over, or not long it... Again, not too expensive at around £15 each... I'm guessing these are the pics named 2.jpg and 3.jpg While you are getting around to changing this flange, it's also worth doing the one on the side of the head too, as this will start leaking as soon as you repair the front flange due to it being the next weakest point... again, not expensive to do, and if you do them both in one hit, you'll only have to change the coolant once! 8) Picture 1.jpg is the oil breather pipe connection onto the boost return pipe... these have a habit of splitting with age (mine has too) and aren't a big problem except for the crud you'll have around it... It's probably worth replacing the pipe if you get chance, but don't worry about it too much... 8) and finally, it's all on the age of your G60 as to if it needs the cat or not... If it's a J plate or earlier then you don't need it, and it should pass the emissions test easily without the car... if it's a K plate, really, it should have a cat on it, but the odds are it'll still pass the emissions test if it's running properly! 8) Mine flew through the cat emissions test even though it's been heavily modified and doesn't have a cat! 8) *Edit* have a look at THIS thread about the coolant flange... get the parts from Eurocarparts or GSF to save some cash though... 8)
