"Some say the resulting Cobra is the reason the Uk has a 70mph speed limit as in 1963 a coupe version of the car was recorded at 185mph on the M1" Well, from the horses mouth: clicky! It wasn't either a Jag or a Cobra that did it... it had been under review for a long time before the 185mph on the M1 incident... -

nope, there was a pair of Cobra Coupes involved along with the Jag... The government got a little concerned that they were overtaking cars like the morris minor at over 100mph OVER the top speed of the morris! -
sweeeeet.... anyone used that and got away with it yet?
-
Ah! in that case these are the same as the ones you can get from GSF for about £3 each! 8) ;)

I can't convert .PDF to anything at work... anyone else help?

diagnose a leak? Easy... take the pipe off the pump and then blow down the pipe.... if you can blow and it doesn't feel like you're trying to inflate a car tyre by mouth, then there's unlikely to be a leak and the pump's probably gone weak... If you can't blow anything into the system, try sucking and see if you can actually get any air out of the system.... while you've got the pump disconected from the pipe, fire the central locking while holding your (dampened) finger over outlet... you should feel it suck HARD and blow HARD when you open/close the central locking... if you don't, your pump's goosed.... ;)

Whether it's real or a fake snake, it's still a beautiful car though... 8) I seem to remember that the BIG difference between the ones like in Struan's piccy and the "build your own" kit stylee ones is that the AC one is actually an aluminium shell like the original was, not a fibreglass molded one... A guy I know of in my home town has a BRIGHT YELLOW (needed highlighting to emphasise just how YELLOW it is! ) AC Cobra (think it's a MKVI ) which is nothing short of stunning... Personally, I'd love an orignal AC Ace, but if I wanted a cobra, it'd have to be a 427 as it's that one which made the car the legend it is today... Oh, and the speed limit thing was actually a pair of AC Cobra COUPE'S which were being tested before Le Mans on the M1 which were playing with a Jag E type which caused all the ker-fuffle in the papers and lead to the eventual introduction of the 60/70mph limit... And just to keep it on topic, how the hell has that Metro not bio-degraded by now?!? I thought (Hoped?) that they'd all rotted back to nothing by now... -
just renewed the insurance on H-YYU... £689.70 fully comp with my missus on as well, unlimited milage, agreed value of £7500, all mods claimed with power up to 255BHP allowed and unlimited body/suspension mods allowed... I asked for a quote on a £500 MKII Golf GTI for TPFT only as a second car, and, even though they mirrored my full no-claims, it came in at £350!!! WTF is that about?!? Guess I'll just have to stay using the Corrado as my daily driver... ;)

yeah, dropped the inlet temps by about 4degreesC at idle (pulling air in from nowhere near the radiator) and upto about 8 degrees at speed... 8)

not got any pics... Basically, take out the carbon cannister (instructions should be in Wiki) and fit a suitable bit of pipe down the hole with an angled bit at the bottom which you attach to the brake cooling duct... then cut a hole in the bottom of the airbox to mate up with the pipe and hey-presto... one cold air feed which kind of acts as a rampipe as the speed goes up... 8)
-
yeah, I've removed that from all of my 'rados and have had a pipe run to there on my valver or down through the carbon cannister hole on my G60s to act as a ram pipe... The only downsides are that it allows a lot of road crud to get into the engine bay when removed and doesn't direct quite as much air onto the radiator which doesn't matter on my G60 as there's a sodding enormous intercooler there anyway!
-
Craig, yeah, that sounds VERY much like the switch has given up...

Quickest car you've been in, owned and most interesting....

:notworthy: now I could do with a mate like that.... I'd love a go in a real Cobra... :notworthy: -
I don't think they're an aftermarket part... I know that Dubwhizz has fitted these to his MKII Golf G60 Oettinger and got the parts from a local scrapyard...

today: swore lots down the phone at the parts muppet who has forgotten to order part of the fuelpump sender update kit I needed which I ordered this morning... It'll be with me at 9am tomorrow... shame that I needed to fit it tonight...

Supercharged, really? They're FECKING ENORMOUS!!! :|

have you spoken to Darren?

change insurance broker... HIC, Flux and brentacre all do second cars, either by mirroring your no-claims, or actually adding another car onto your policy... I'm thinking about mirroring my no-claims with Brentacre to run a slightly more fuel efficient car to work and back and have the G60 as a weekend toy at the moment, so I made sure that I could do this when I renewed yesterday... 8)

Pickard1, chances? Slim to feck all unfortunately... :( Glad that it all seems to be working (at least a little faster than it should!) If it's any consolation, this is how my after-market fan is wired up on my G60 and it doesn't half keep the running temps down to a more respectable level... ;)

yup, that was a featured upgrade in one of the first GOLF mags along with Rover220gti wheels... They were Girling twin pots and fitted straight onto the MKI golf, but I can't remember which volvo they were off...

yup, 252BHP in my 'rado's plenty silly enough at the moment... wouldn't like to try that in an aircooled format... I know it's do-able (there's a guy just down the road from work with a 500bhp road legal beetle!) but it's just tooooooo much cost...
