yup.... used it plenty in the past... pee&poo whore-houses stock it... Basically, it just softens it up so you can wipe it off with kitchen roll (or similar) 8)

billinjah, if your sump's hitting the floor, be bloody careful as they've been known to flatten out slightly, block the oil pickup and starve the engine of oil causing it to seize up solid... I was a bit worried about using an alloy sump until I saw a shrick one in the flesh and realised just how much flesh there is to them!

...or go to B&Q and buy some silicone sealant remover....

if you use nice strong glue, you'll never be able to change the bulbs when they blow... pull the metal bit off (undo the middle screw if possible) and remove the bulbholder/lens assembly... 3 new stainless steel screws and 3 of the threaded square clips you get to hold aftermarket speakers in with later and you've sorted the problem out... ;) (you could also use 3 nuts and bolts with a large washer up by the nut to hold it in...) Brake light wise, the metal bit is hidden by the spoiler when it's down, so there's no point in putting a light there... Oh, and if you want to put in a brake light into the bootlid, don't forget that you're going to have to run a wire from the existing brakelights up the C pillar, into the tail gate, down the side of the window (inside the tailgate!) and over to wherever you are going to put the brakelight.... It's not an easy route to run cables through, trust me.... :|

Welcome to the forum... It's a cracking car and I can't wait to see what you do to it to make it your own... Supercharger and different wheels sounds like a good start though... ;)

measure across the outer two pins and you should get 500ish ohms Then measure across the middle to outer pin and you should get a resistance, blow cold air across the sensor and the resistance should change... if it doesn't, it's dead.

I had oversized ones put into my CNC head... but the standard valved CNC head flows as near as dammit the same as a 16V head! 8) 2litre stroker crank and longer rods may give more power, but it depends on what the throw of the crank is and how much longer the rods are... I know of some 2 litre engines which make substantially less BHP and torque than my 1940 engine and are nasty to drive at high RPMs just because of what they've based the engine around... Longer throw also needs more machining to the block/oil squirters and could push the cost up substantially...

could be a dodgy CO pot, or connection to the CO pot... My CO pot went wrong and as a result the engine was flooding and wouldn't start at all... :|

*rolls out old picture*

the handle is still available from VAG and isn't as stupidly priced as some of the other interior parts... ;)
-
yup, 2079 entered... 8)

Didn't this car start out as AQUA blue? Kind of a full circle if I remember correctly!

The height adjust handle has a nasty habit of breaking due to being kicked off... should be there though... ;)

*cough* Supercharged = Steve... Jim = Jim... *cough* ;)

the amount of oil that the oil pump holds is almost sod all... if it's properly empty (as it will be if you remove it) then it takes a little while for it to suck up oil as they're not very good at sucking air through them... When I did my sump, I just dropped the old oil, took the sump off, fitted the windage tray (you have to temporarily take off the pump's pickup pipe to fit it) and then bolted on the new sump, filled her up and drove her around again! I did an oil change about 500 miles later as the sump was just one of quite a few parts I'd fitted and I wanted to be sure there was no swarf in there anywhere... Both my windage tray and sump came from G-werks.... 8)

meh, I just tend to do it now so people know it's my car as I always call 'em J-DUB or H-YYU... the security side doesn't really matter now as there's that many pics of her about on other forums etc that the numberplate's on pics elsewhere anyways... ;)

I fitted mine in a carpark with the car up on axle stands... definately do-able! Make sure you have a 1/4inch ratchet with a LONG extension with wiggle end and a 10mm socket to get at the 2 bolts up by the gearbox and you'll have no problems other than a sore neck from supporting the new sump on your head as you get some bolts in quick! It's dropped my oil temp by about 5 degrees as there's now an extra litre of oil in there and the fins on the bottom of it... my G60 now takes almost 6 litres to fill from empty 'cos of the sump and oil cooler! :| Supercharged is on about draining ALL of the oil from his car (aftermarket oil cooler and from the oil pump too!) once you'd drained the oil pump, you need to fill it manually else you'll have NO oil pressure at all for the first few seconds which is all it takes to do some serious damage to the engine, hence re-priming the pump... If you're not removing the pump completely, then you won't need to re-prime it... ;)

BeavisJem, yeah, I gained around 30bhp just from swapping from a JMR/Racepower flowed/ported standard-sized-valve head and standard cam to one of G-werks' CNC heads and it's associated custom Newman cam... When you see the flow figures for the CNC head they're just silly in comparison to the standard head... 8)

Lippy, I did say THE engine... Suppose it's probably time to sort out my other Corrado then... ;)
-
...that I've just about run out of things to do to the engine to make it go faster while staying reasonably reliable...
-
Phil, yeah, I looked slower than I actually was 'cos the standard-ish looking red MKII golf I was up against turned out to have a 350BHP+ 20VT lump in it and pulled a low 13 time!  I think I pulled a 15.6 but it was backfiring on every gearchange and bogging down due to the timing being yanked back by the ECU when it detected it was running lean 'cos of the dodgy fuel pump... I only ran her once 'cos I didn't want to melt her/blow her up due to running lean... Louie Lungbubble, shhhhh! don't let all my plans out into the open.... ;) Nah, I dropped that idea 'cos I saw a car with it done and it looked a little too chav-esque for my tastes and I couldn't see a way of doing it any neater...
-
Phil, yup, dying fuel pump which is limiting me somewhat and will be changed this week... Still managed a 6.68 0-60mph time according to my GPS tracker though! 8) .Rich., yeah, I'll get my arse in gear at some point and buy one for it...
-
around 210 to 225bhp would be my estimate... (unless the head's a superb one or a CNC jobbie) Porting and polishing the throttle body will help too, and make sure your exhaust is good and free flowing... ;)

341 miles on one VR6 tank of fuel, can 360 be done surely not
Henny replied to willg95vr6's topic in General Car Chat
yup, J-DUB's got the larger tank... H-YYU's only got the baby tank, and with the Monster engine, that doesn't result in a long time between fillups...  -
also a big vote for one of the G-werks systems... Much better than what was on H-YYU before hand... 8)
