I've only got 9 now... I need a tenth to get me up to 2 sets of 5 matching wheels.... :(
-
blue one is the updated replacement for the black ones which are no longer available... ;)
-
it's an age thing.... Early ones are auto down on both sides and auto up on the drivers side Later ones are only auto down, you have to hold the button to put the window back up... It's something to do with a safety regulation to stop kids beheading themselves in the windows accidentally...

if they're borbet Cs, they're 16x7.5... ;) Number on the rim between the spokes should be C75635 with ET40 punched into the inside of one spoke if they are what you think they are... 8) p.s. if they are, and you have a spare 5th one, wanna sell it to me? ;)

251.2 bhp achieved while being mapped at ChipWizards... I've since replaced the slightly restrictive MillTek exhaust and the fuel pump and filter so she should be a bit better when I get her map tweaked to take those into account once I work out why she's only running on 2 cylinders at the moment... Wayne had commented that he thought that there was some more there but that he couldn't work out what was holding her back: having seen how bad the fuel pump was, I reckon there's more yet to come... ;) She's running a rebored block with longer throw crank and the whole bottom end has been balanced and lightened.

a jammed thermostat, dead thermoswitch/fan or dead water pump would cause these kinds of problems... did the fan come on?

Cheers Ant, I'll swap the dizzy for my spare one, although I doubt it's that as there's a definate spark at all 4 cylinders even when it's mis-firing... :( Not had chance to find out what's wrong with her yet, but am aiming to spend a weekend on her over the next month or so to nail down what's wrong... I'll keep you updated, but any more ideas are more than welcome and appreciated... 8)

Daz - "SPRINGS!!! Damn, I knew I forgot to fit something..." or: Positive proof that bubblewrap is no substitute for proper airbags...

I wish... couldn't justify the insurance on one of those... :( Insurance is only £300 for the year on top of my Corrado's insurance (both will run together so I can drive either! 8) I like Brentacre, they're damned good... 8) )

It's a VW. It's Forced Induction. It's the newest car I'll have bought It's the biggest engine size of any car I've bought. I've not even seen it or agreed to buy it yet but I probably will be paying for it on Thursday evening and hopefully driving it home straight away.... Pics to follow, probably after E38... 8)

I'm picking up some new inlet manifold gaskets today and may have time on Sunday to remove the manifold to see if there's a leak there... if not, then it's going into my mates garage while I go on holiday for a week and I'll hope they get some time to have a quick look at it and find out what the problem is... 8)

pringles tubes work VERY well... ;) Oh, and the Yagi wouldn't be a self built one... my mate can get 'em tuned to any frequency range I like... (being a broadcast engineer's useful like that! )

normally to run on Biodiesel you need to upgrade the fuel heater as it's slightly thicker than normal diesel unless it's had a chemical (basically white spirit) added to it to thin it down a bit. My sister and her husband are looking into this at the moment as in France (where they now live) it's quite popular and their Pug 30somthing estate diesel will work rather well on it...

my grey one's had a front end at some point... nothing that's gone through the insurance (it's HPI clear) but it's had a new (late) bonnet, slam panel, headlamps and bumper on it at some point as there's loads of little things that aren't quite as they left the factory but are OK... (wrong coloured rivets in the bonnet catch plastic bits etc) If it's all straight and HPI clear, then don't worry about it... ;)
-
unlike on a Golf, there ISN'T a plate on the slam panel with the chassis number on it on a Corrado... The chassis number is on the scuttle panel just by the wiper motor... If you open the bonnet, and stand next to the RH side repeater and look at where the wiper motor is, you should see it about a foot in from the inner wing on the top of the panel that seperates the engine bay from the channel that the wiper motor lives in (scuttle panel). The chassis number is stamped into the panel and is normally within a rectangle of white paint.
-
ummm, I didn't think they ever needed the engine number... Chassis number, yes, but not the engine number... (makes note to update V5 with new engine number asap....  )
-
some of them need a little mild adjustment to the mounting holes on the car to get the inners to fit spot on, but they're not difficult to get to fit right... I've got a set of both in-pros (smoked M3) and FKs (all smoked) on my Corrados and they all line up spot on with less than 10 mins work... 8)
-
late ones should have been fitted to mid/late '92 onwards cars only from the factory... 8)
-
phone John at Brentacre, I'd bet he'll be able to sort you out... 8)
-
nope, I haven't... :( Thanks for the offer though, much appreciated... 8) I've asked my mate's boss if I can stick it in his garage to do a few quick tests as they're booked up until the 11th of September! but I want to do a couple of other tests to it this week and then I'll see what I can find afterwards...
-
Lippy, it depends on HOW it's broken... sometimes a bit snaps out of the middle meaning that the dipstick sits too low in the sump and so will read higher than the actual oil level... If it's just snapped, but still has both bits and makes a complete guide when the dipstick is put back into the tube, you're probably OK, but for a quid, it's worth changing it!

AARRGGHH!! my local (trusted) garage can't get the car in for 3 weeks 'cos they're too busy... :( Think I'm gonna have to get the tools out and try to cure this myself by stripping her apart until I find something wrong... :|

right, You MUST have insurance to drive a car on the UK roads. You can drive your new car TO an MOT station without tax or MOT, but you must have insurance. Your insurance WILL be valid for this journey, but only this one journey while not MOTd or taxed. If your car passes the MOT, you MUST tax it before you drive the car anywhere afterwards. If it fails, it's not road legal and therefore should not be driven on the roads. If you tow it, it doesn't need tax as it's classed as a trailer and therefore is covered by the tax of the car which is towing it. Hope this helps... 8)

check that the plastic holder on the top of the dip-stick tube isn't broken... if it is, it can make the dip-stick read upto 2 litres over what's actually in the sump!!! They're only a pound from GSF/ ECP and the like...

kongo127, I can't tell.... 'cos it's mis firing the knock sensor is going nuts... Standard G60 compression is 8.5:1 so you should get around 8.5bar compression from each cylinder... NickVR6, it appears that there IS occasional combustion in 1&2, just not all the time... :| It's always the last thing you test, 'cos once you've foung the problem, you don't keep looking! ;) I'm veering away from manifold and inlet gaskets at the moment as there's such a large gap between 1&2 on the inlet side that I can't see it leaking on both of them witout there being something VERY obvious wrong... She's going in for a leak-down test later this week if I can get it booked in to rule out headgasket once and for all... 8)
