  1. CorradoDriver, re-bored, different crank, custom pistons, CNC machined head, dynamic balancing, blue-printing, gas-flowing, port matching, upgrading everything erm, and then playing with it a bit more = a whole hell of a lot of work = 250bhp from a 1940cc G60 engine....
  2. with a whole hell of a lot of work!
  3. "It churns out a lazy 650bhp at 2500rpm" Oh my, now that's just SILLY (Needs a supercharger sat on top between the two banks poking up through the bonnet IMHO though... ;)  ) wonder what kind of gpm figures he'll get out of it?!?
  4. don't knock it... My G60 gained .1 of a litre and gained 80+bhp in the process! It's mainly the emissions control stuff on the US VR6s that hammer their output, not the loss of the 0.1 litres...
  5. why do you want to put different rods in? The only reason I can think of for changing G60 rods were if I were putting in a different crank to do a capacity increase... :| The standard G60 rods are VERY strong as standard... 8) If you need an upgrade, Skat are very good....
  6. Yup, go to your local VW dealer and order one.... they're the same as the one off a MKII Golf and lots of other VWs of the time... Shouldn't cost you too much either. 8)
  7. yesterday I hammered it down to Malvern and then scared Dinkus by making it pop though the exhaust as I overtook him on the way home... Today I thrashed the hell out of it through a tunnel and nearly made some muppet in a Merc convertable crash when it popped inside the tunnel right as I was along side him!  Now I'm going to top up the oil and cruise home... 8)
  8. yeah, but that's just your normal stock pile!
  9. yeah, I know... it's 15 years old and I keep finding oddities on it... I've not seen front brakes like she has on a Corrado before (photos will be added to my gallery when I get my arse in gear and take some!  ) Who knows what previous owners have done?!?
  10. Peakz, you obviously didn't see the MKII golf at SantaPod last year with the porno interior... :|
  11. ah, so still in the dreaming stage then... ;) (which we all know you are one of the few people on here who will then take to the reality stage via the swearing heavily, bleeding mildly and sweating lots stages! ) Good luck, knowing your previous work, it definately sounds like it'll be a little interesting... 8)
  12. Oh, and my early car has a late bonnet but is HPI clear and has the original slam panel... go figure... :|
  13. Yup, as well as the boot floor being different to accomodate the larger fuel tank... ;) (and before anyone argues on this one, I have a late and an early G60 and the rear wings are DEFINATELY different 'cos my wheels aren't changable from one car to the other 'cos they stick out of the arches on my early one making them illegal for road use... )

    ECU repair company

ardandy, I didn't realise he fixed 'em as well as re-mapping 'em.... Cool! 8)
  15. the Fidanza one is a custom made flywheel which is substantially lighter than a standard one, it's not a lightened flywheel, it's a lightER flywheel... (and yes, they're well balanced!) Mine has been lightened by a machining company who have litterally put it into a lathe and taken material off the back of it to make it substantially lighter. It was then balanced dynamically (ie it was spun quickly and balanced rather than trying to balance it while it's stationary)
  16. sarcky get... ;) They make LOTs of turbos... which one you thinking about?
  17. The weight of the standard flywheel on any car is designed to make gear changes smoother and to give the engine enough momentum so that when coming to a halt, the engine doesn't just stop turning once the clutch is dropped. Lightening the flywheel will IMPROVE mid-range acceleration as you're not having to try and spin up a much heavier weight. Top end I doubt you would see any difference over a standard flywheel, but acceleration through the rev range would be improved enough to actually measure, due to the loss of extra weight that the engine has to spin in order to get the car to move/accelerate.... I've fitted a lightened flywheel to a 1200 beetle in the past and the difference was night and day... made the car feel like it was a much bigger engine than it was, almost motorbike like... Oh, and all flywheels are balanced from the factory... if anyone buys a flywheel which hasn't been dynamically balanced after it was lightened then they're just asking for trouble as it will happily shake the engine to bits and make for a very nasty driving experience... :|

    power increase

VEEDUBBED, betcha you can! ;) The toothed belts used in these kits are industrial drive belts, not cam-belts and I KNOW that they are available upto 3 meters long and probably even longer! I reckon that your main problem would be getting the pullies machined as you've used such a unique combination of parts to get what you needed... 8)
  19. yeah, it can affect your radio reception, but not as much as the standard aerial does anyway! FYI, the heated washer jets have 2 wires going to them, switched positive and an earth, so they'll keep working as well (!) as normal with our without the earth strap... ;)

    head gasket gone!

labour price of £400 for the heater matrix isn't bad to be honest (works out at around £50 an hour labour for the book time on doing a matrix) Having never worked on a VR6 (yet!) I don't know prices or timings for doing a head on one... :|
  21. what's up with the engine that means it's that fecked?
  22. the wipers on all 3 of my Corrados have been utter pish... until I fitted the Lupo GTI ones on the 2 I still own and was happily amazed by the difference... If anyone can find an upgrade on that upgrade, then that's brilliant in my book! 8)
  23. the earth strap corrodes on all Corrados... I replaced mine as I bought each of my Corrados after learning how rubbish they were with my very first one... *edit* oh, how rude of me, I didn't notice your post count... Welcome to the forum... 8)

    Show Me Your Dials!

clicky! Here's the old thread with 300dpi scans of both old and new style, twin LCD clock faces... 8)
  25. deffo worth it... Only downside I've ever come across with lightening the flywheel (and this is the 4th car I've had one on and about the 10th I've fitted one to!) is that coming to a complete stop, you need to dip the clutch a little earlier than you normally would else you'll stall the engine... Upsides are that it allows the engine to rev up (and down) MUCH faster than normal...
