  1. got one on my G60... They come with BOTH hook and bar style hangers attached (nice touch I thought!) and are 2.5" bore all the way through... Sounds nice, not too loud or boomy, but lets people outside the car know that it's got an exhaust... 8) Seems to flow a damn site better than the Miltek that was on there before anyway... :)
  2. yup, heard good things about Ray West too... Should get your motor running as well as it can which should give you some good gains if you're running rich like your LM1 says... 8)
  3. Erm, isn't the G60 charger around 80% efficient?
  4. check your lambda probe and blue temp sensor... if either of these is shot, your emissions will be a mile out... ;)
  5. check there's 12V between the 2 spade connectors on the rear screen when the heated screen is on. If not, then you've got either a blown fuse, broken switch or broken wire before the screen. If you do have 12V, then there's a break in the elements stopping the current flowing through them... get some heater element repair paint from a good car parts store and find the breaks... 8)
  6. My G60 found somewhere in the region of 10BHP due to having the vernier fitted and setup by someone who knows what they're doing with it... 8)
  7. take the thin pipe off the expansion tank when the engine isn't running and feed it into where the cap normally is (obviously remove the cap first! ) Turn on the engine and see if you get a flow of coolant from the thin pipe into the expansion tank. If not, then your water pump ain't doing much or you have a blockage somewhere in the system... :?
  8. Turn on the engine, warm it up to around 80degrees water and oil temps, disconnect the blue temp sensor and then unscrew the screw until you get a decent idle speed... reconnect the blue temp sensor and you should then have a good idle speed from then on... ;) 8)
  9. that kind of bolt was a stretch bolt and as such was single use only. If you've removed it, it WILL have to be replaced with a new one. The replacement which ISN'T stretch is from a DX coded 1.8 8V engine out of a 1982 MKI Golf GTI. You'll need both the bolt and it's washer. It's an 8 sided bolt rather than 12 sided and is re-usable... 8)
  10. yup, H-YYU is a daily driver... about 350miles a week... I built her to be driven and wouldn't have it any other way... 8) SERIOUSLY considering an LPG conversion at the moment though as Optimax is now over 101p per litre around here! :(
  11. davedub, yup, they went when the later bumpers were fitted... No idea why though, 'cos the grill and all fittings for 'em are still there... The sensor isn't very expensive from VAG IIRC, I got a new one for J-DUB a couple of years ago after breaking the original one in an accident with a hammer...
  12. people at work know that I have a hammer on my desk and am quite prepared to use it if someone hits my car with their door... I work on the theory that I look after my car and spend time and effort on it, how would they like it if I swung my hammer into them/their belongings? People tend to take a bit more care once you explain it that way if you actually have a hammer in your hand... ;)
  13. g60rc, contact G-Werks or Pitstop for the chip and pulley to match... Yes, it's a plug it in and go job... Bit fiddly to get the ECU out and back in again, but other than that, it's just unscrewing bits and unplugging the old chip/plugging in the new one.... 8)
  14. if you don't have the brake cooling ducts, then it lives in a metal plate on the drivers side in the lower grill in the bumper... Looks wise from the outside of the bumpre, it's a round thing with 3 clips holding it into the metal panel and a pin in the center... 8)
  15. steve_16v, good point... :)
  16. Nope, they're the right ones...
  17. iow_corrado_g60, you forgot the supercharger... ;)

    LCD Telly

/takes finger off move button.... ;) These screens aren't bad to be honest... I've been playing with the idea of getting a couple and building them into my sunvisors or glovebox lid, but now I've got the engine running properly, I don't think I'd ever be able to watch 'em 'cos I enjoy driving the car too much and most passengers will be too busy hanging on to watch 'em... ;)
  19. dinkus, you have NO imagination... Just turn the intake around 90degrees and have the belt on the SIDE of the charger.... Hell, you could even extend the chains and drive it off that!  /goes off to continue the hunt for a reasonable cheap V8 estate to throw a BIG charger on...
  20. Meh, been there, driven them, missed the soul of my VWs... :? Glad you're happy with your rice burner though, it's horses for courses at the end of the day... 8)
  21. Right and wrong all in one post.... ;) Right that it was intended by VDO for reading info, but was never implemented... Wrong in that the oil warning buzzer IS on the circuit board for the clocks... coolrado's right that the hi-lighted bit is a variable capacitor, IIRC the buzzer is on the circuit board for the Revcounter... (feck knows why though! )
  22. Walesy, nope, I hadn't seen that thread, and yes, I do know what it is... ;) Oh, and a Rally day is next on my list, other than a skid-pan day... ;)
