    Boot lock woes

It could be similar to the Passat part, but it deffo ain't MKII or MKIII golf... Time to visit VW and get a new one... :|
  3. quicky for DazzyVR6... Cheers for the wing mate... 8)

    ah oh

Get the timing set up first... is it using water/oil? Could well just be a mile out on the timing mate... Mine did the same thing on the rollers last tuesday and went into stupidly high temps, but the gasket's fine... Hahahahahahahaha.... *Picks self up off floor* Nope, they certainly ain't indestructable... ;) They're good, but if you heat 'em up too much, the HEAD warps slightly (we're talking a couple of thousandths of an inch here) which will alow the gasket to blow.... Nah, that could just be normal... mine smokes slightly from the filler cap if you open it with the engine running... that's just the engine oil system breathing normally... Keep an eye on your levels and see if it's actually USING oil or water or overpressurising the coolant system... ;) Sounds like a sensible shopping list to me... I'd be tempted to add on a cam belt and cambelt tensioner while I was in there, just 'cos you're 80% of the way to removeing it anyway, so you may as well while it's in bits... ;) Get the timing setup first and see if it IS using fluids before whipping the head off though, you may be surprised... 8)
  5. it's a single prong oil pressure sensor... I can't remember the pressure it switches at, but any parts monkey should be able to find it... Like I say, it's about £15 'cos I replaced all of the sensors on my car when I rebuilt the engine... ;)
  6. sounds like the oil return pipe from the supercharger to the block has become damaged or is loose.... Check under the charger to see if you can see a flexible pipe screwed into the bottom of it. It feeds over to the block just above the sump on the front near the middle.
  7. http://www.eurocarparts.com or http://www.gsfcarparts.com may be able to get you one, but if not, then they're about £15 from VW. Don't buy one until you're certain that it is the sensor that's at fault though... no point in spending money you don't need to... ;)
  8. Blown, which engine and what mods? There's no point in putting in uprated bolts and gaskets if you're running a standard engine... Hell, even my somewhat modified G60 is still running standard bolts and a standard head gasket... ;)
  9. there's a pipe from the back of the throttle body which leads to the ECU (under the plastic cover just infront of the windscreen on the right as you look from the front of the car) This pipe MUST be 100cm long and in good condition else you will get the symptoms you describe. I'd guess that yours is either split or disconnected from your description. *edit* Ah, right, you've just posted the pic... That's the oil pressure sensor for the pipe to the supercharger oil feed. If the wire or sensor is missing or damaged, that'd put your buzzer and oil light on... ;) If the sensor is damaged, that could explain your oil leak too... Any chance of a close up photo of that area of your engine?
  10. the general concensus on the forum is that G-Werks is the place to send your G60 charger to now for rebuilds... Jabba seem to have lost interest in the G-Lader side of things and are concentrating on turbos with great effect, however this has lead to some negative comments from people (including myself) who haven't been happy with the work they have had done by Jabba. G-Werks (Darren, or G-man on this forum) has been setup with G-laders as a core part of the business and has got an awful lot of trade from this forum and little or no bad feedback, which speaks wonders in this day and age... ;) Put it this way, mine's on its way there when I get my spare one back from him... ;) /desperately trying not to slag off Jabba... ;)
  11. http://www.dension.com They do IPOD adaptors for quite a few manufacturers of head units so you can control your IPOD from the head unit... ;)
  12. I know a few people who have used these guys to good effect... 8) Central Taxi Spares 31-35 Chapeltown Street Manchester Lancashire M1 2NN Tel: (01612 738024)
  13. I just found out why mine didn't sound quite as good as I though it would yesterday... The Milltek that's on there has ripped around at least one box and is blowing...
  14. also make sure that the car is on it's wheels when bleeding the rear wheels as the brake compensator will mean that air can get trapped in the line if the car's weight isn't on the rear wheels as normal... ;) Stick it up on a path, or on ramps so that the compensator isn't fully closed as it would be with the wheels up in the air.
  15. rallyejimbo, spot on mate! At 6700 my G60 went normally aspirated... That is to say, it was using EVERY bit of air that the G-Lader could push into the engine with the net result that the boost pressure was ZERO... Shows that these heads that G-man's supplying breath rather well to say the least... :notworthy: If I want any more power outta my engine, I now have to either put on a smaller pulley, or a different type of charger which can flow more air than a G-lader!
  16. I was gonna give this method a go when I did mine (hence why I still had no dash at Stealth this weekend! ) but I found some dodgy wires behind the dash as I was starting the job, so I decided a complete strip-out was probably a good idea...
  17. Yellow VDO like those are out of Porsche 924/944 models... ;) 944 turbo should have one, but it'll be boost only (ie, no Vacuum readings) and may have TURBO splattered across the middle of it... ;)
  18. ummm, most of 'em do... Herts Insurance Company (HIC), brentacre, Adrian Flux, are the 3 I've used in the past... 8)
  19. M10VRG - Green Storm in Alderly Edge on Saturday night... Waved and got a grin and a wave back... ...God, I've missed being able to do that while my G was off the road!
  20. yup... and Kev modified his Lupo arms to fit standard blades, so it follows that you can modify the standard arms to fit aero blades, although this all came about 'cos the spring in the standard arms isn't strong enough which makes your wipers pants... /full circle...
  21. Today I drove my G60 to work and back without really thinking or worrying about it... ...that may not sound all that much, but it's the first time since E38 last year that I've been able to do that!!!
  22. oh, and check that your fan is coming on! Sounds to me like your rad switch has died... ;)
  23. mr.brown, the plastic bit on the top just pulls off, but it will probably break and need some careful surgery to remove it from the dip-stick tube. The metal part of the tube is a push fit (pushed HARD!) into the block... you should be able to pull it out if you can get a good enough grip on it without damaging it... 8) Oh, and some of the very early euro corrados also had the round breather... Kongo's one did... 8)
