WARNING: Wishbone bolts have a nasty habit of shearing. Expensive cutting/welding job to rectify. Good Luck.
-
I have just had wishbones and balljoint fitted. VW GSF Wishbones (each) £56 £40 Ball Joints (each) £21 £?? The fitting should take about 1- 11/2 hours - my mechanic charged me £35, and did the 4-wheel alignment tracking for that too. I was happy. The VW wishbones come with better bushes that the GSF ones - apparently, so I went with them for the extra £32. ...and you should be able to get 10% off at VW too. God luck.

I'd love to know what that PM said

All I can say is that replacing the lead cured my problem. You can buy them individually from VW (Red Beru leads), but VW also sell a Quantum? (I think this is waht they were called) brand which are the ones I just had to replace after just 2 yrs. (I replaced them with Red Beru ones). Quantum? were £65inc. for a COMPLETE set, and you could probably try and get 10% off that. Single Beru lead will cost around £20 depending on length. I wouldn't recommend changing just 1 lead. If you want to pay postage, I will give you the one I just took off my car for nothing. About £2 I reckon.

Lead #6 was guilty. I changed that one, tried the car and the problem was gone. Gonna change all the other leads too now to be sure of a good quality set fitted. Mods can close this thread if you want to. Thanks to all for contribs. :)

I ordered the Genuine HT leads from VW, at a cost of £108. They offered me a set for £65, but the were "altenative" replacements. Where do I find the "puller lead" please?
-
I just ordered a complete set of OEM leads from my local VW. They cost £120, but I get 10%, so £108 total. Thay offered me a set for £65, but they were cheap replacements. They admitted to putting these on unless specifically asked not to mind you ! :x

I already know that the Coilpack is £188.00+VAT from VW. Mind you, they do give me 10% for being a member of CCGB Still a rip off I know. How much for a FULL set of leads? I assume thay are individually priced, and as my suspect one is short, it should be cheap. Do I need any tools to change it?
-
Can it spark at BOTH ends and still be as likely to be the coilpack as the lead? How much is a new colipack? How much for a new set of leads? hrmph
-
#6 I take it by the way, this all started again after I washed the engine bay. :?
-
If you stand behind the wing and look at the colpack, my top left connection is sparking. When I follow this lead, it sparks again at the plug. What should I do? Change just that lead? Which number is it please? (I know it sounds obvious, but I thought I'd check anyway) This happened last year about this time too, but went away again.

It did ok - but they preferred the Porsche because their "heart" said so. Lol

Nobody else got any readings to reveal?

Elephant insure me for £404 / year, and I still include my ex's name on it cos I knew it was about £70 cheaper with her on it last year. She's never driven the car. Remember though, your best advice will come from someone who's made a claim with them AND receiver their next years' premium. They are Cardiff based.

I just spent 2 nights visiting a pal in Towcester and saw 2 C's in 1 day within 1/2 mile of each other. 1(G60) was in the garage just off the village square, and the other (VR) in the "TOTAL" garage, using the jetwash machine which I'd just left ! What an amazing coincidence.

I have the original Road Angel - it is excellent. When/If it breaks down, I would get another within 24 hours. I also use it to transmit it's GPS signal to my iPaq, thus producing totally portable SatNav.

On the journey home, I took it a steady 70-80 and the oil temperature didn't go above 108. I will assume this is fine (despite the 122deg on the way up whilst booting it a little) What is the highest oil reading anyone has had? ... and water temp.?
-
My oil temp. went up to 122deg. at one point on the journey... ...mind you, I was trying to make up for lost time and was doing at least 85-100 most of the way ( I think  ) When I slowed down, the temp did lower to 114. Can you knowledgeable ppl confirm that this is ok please?
-
this will go up on the motorway I assume?
-
I am due to head off on a long journey. I have been driving around the neighbourhood today doing bits and bobs, and I flicked to my oil temp as I was heading home. What should this read please. VR6 76,000 miles. No oil cooler fitted. Please respond ASAP - TIA.
