Looks fantastic, will you ever park this car at your Local Tesco? I see you taking 4 spaces  Big credit to you for your dedication and high standards. You must want to lick it  :luvlove:

Can these parts be ordered from the uk? Or do I have to go direct? They want 42 dollars to post the billet fuel line brackets.... Just seeing if I can save on delivery? Ta

I have spent ages looking around at whats available and listening to opinions. I have decided to buy the Second Skin Damplifier Pro Black Bulk Kit and the Second Skin Luxury Liner Pro. I just need to work out how much of the latter I need. It comes as 9 square feet. Do you know roughly how much I will need. Want to do roof, boot, centre console and doors and rear quarter panels. At present, I ripped off the foam liner on the doors as it was riped and looked messy. Can I just use the second skin damplifier instead as the door membrane?

Wow, what a reply! Ok, on reflection, I will put a 10 or 12 inch sub/amp in the back, no rear speakers, components up front and might invest in the Audioscape pods? Otherwise, I will ask my prep guy to make me some out of my originals and get them trimmed? I will have a look at the second hand market, why not. I dont need really loud more an excellent sound and when that special tune comes on that makes you drive like a idiot, it will handle it. I am very fussy with sound generally, my hearing is quite senstive and I appreciate a good set up over a bad one. I think budget went out the window a while ago with this car but without heading into tournament sound offs, I would like to be at the better end of a nice system. So I need 2 amps? One for sub, one for speakers? Where did you mount the tweeter part on the components? Head hight or lower down? In your opinion, do some amp and components work better than others? Regardless of power ratings or if you used the same power ratings with different makes?

I have the flu at present and my brain isnt working properly yet, Yes, lot of trouble, usually serious!

Doesn't LOTUS stand for ,'' Lots Of Money Usually Serious'' :D My friend has one, in purple, looks the nuts IMO. it always made people look and admire. Never did get a ride in it. :( My friend Tadleo, the italian stalion, he is one of their test drivers and is a jacket when i comes to these cars. If you have any questions, I can email him for u. Have you considered the Honda NSX? Are they still silly money?

God knows why I called you Andy! Apologies! My sister even wrote in my bday card, '' Its all down hill from now on and she should know''! LOL I just hope I finish this car before im 50! RE my goal is to achieve a better sound insulation and road noise together. I know the VR is quite quiet inside and this corrado seems to be the best one ive had so far, maybe this is the leather seating and door cards?? All my other c's have been cloth. My bonnet has had the sound deadening pads removed for paint and Im guessing it's wise to re fit this. They are in good condition also. I will also have the benefit of a stronger headlining and all pillars are being leather retrimmed so that should help too. I will have a ganders on the site recommended above, cheers for that.

Hey, havent bought any amps as yet, or speakers. Just have the new headunit.... I did once work for Halfords when I was 16 and knew a fair bit back then about audio, or at least I though I did....... The brand names that always stuck out back then were Rockford, JL audio and Alpine. I suppose I need to invest in some larger door pod speakers for the front and wondering if I like the deeper Audioscope design pods or weather to have mine re made? At present I would like to install the amp kit whilst the interior is out, I accept its a catch 22 as it depends on what im running. But what would you say would be enough for amped hight quality speakers? Not subs. Any where would you recommend that I source it from?

This is the first time I have taken a car to this level and just want to do the job properly especially as all the interior is out. I'm one of these people that cant sleep if I hear a loud clock ticking etc so figured that if I sound proffed the car, it would acoustically sound better and perhaps, more like a merc. They always seem so quiet inside! In my line of work, Property Management, I have had to sound proof a few flats and know the product only works if you do the whole area as far as you can reach, if you do just one section, the vibration will escape. I may be barking up the wrong tree but applied this theory to my car. I don't want any thumping base, just crystal clear music, amped up. Its like going to a night club where they have the music so loud it distorts and sounds crap and you leave the club with a high pitch tone in your ear drums!I like quality of music now than apposed to how cool is it that my glasses fall off the dash from the base! Go easy on me, I just turned 29 last week, that age where you think, crumbs, I really am trucking on from what felt like sweet 25 not that long ago! So, mixed replys about sound proofing. I hope Andy that your reply wasn't making out that I don't listen to anyones opinions? Im sure it's just how I read it and not literally as I do take on board people views otherwise, I wouldn't stick my hand up. Then again, I though you were saying to me if I sound proofed my bmc? Obviously not. I wanted to make mine louder at the time, back when I had Big Ram, Burgandy VR, many moons ago.

Totally agree, I basically had all the work re done by a professional to ensure my finish was the best it could be. I just wish I had given the car to peter from the outset to flare the arches etc as his work is so much neater. As he's a painter he knows how the finish should be from welding, shaping and how filler is applied. Small things like the bonnet jets, when my welder did them, the underside was a horrid finish, even though it was covered by the plastic trim that sits in the space. After we changed the bonnet, Peter did the welding and the underside was a smooth perfect finish. The proof will be in the pudding and I plan to buy a decent camera and you guys - my worthy judges can tell me what you think :salute: You are the second knowledgable person to recommend Standox, I will ask the body shop about it

I have an alpine mp3 iphone player. I have also had my parrot bluetooth hooked up with it. Is it beneficial for me to buy the alpine bluetooth system, as in, will I get any extra features through the head unit that I dont get through the parrot? The alpine extra is around the same price as a parrot and can always use my parrot in the van.... Also, what amp wiring kit is recommended? I want to amp all speakers, including components when I get around to buying them. Which will probably be another topic I ask about.

Hi again! I want to sound proof the car whilst the interior is out, is the best stuff the Dynamat extreme? Anyone have any pics of their car with it all stuck on or any tips in doing it?
-
My car is soon to be re sprayed, the place I get all my bits from specialise in Lechler paint and the body shop I will probably use prefer ICI and they can mix it on site. My buddy who's into his cars in a big way said he would be doing his in Standox and had used House of Kolor before. Just want to share these thoughts and see if im going with the best brand, more than likely ICI. So far I've heard its very good quality and but quite expensive. For people that had their car re sprayed, what paint did you use and have you been impressed with it?

Cheers my friend, Well, have provisionally booked the car in for base coat and finishing and a 15 hour mirror polish at 3000 grade. I have 2 more people to see but they are away at present and back this week or next. Eitherway, I am more than happy with the guys I spoke to today. Probably spent a good 40 minutes chatting to the owner and explaining that the car will be paint ready. They can have the car at the beginning of jan and they recon a couple of weeks. They will do the shuts first, bake, mask up, do the whole car and will wait a week for the paint to fully cure then polish. The guy I spoke to knew Corrados well, I've seen a few Corrados they have done on my friends laptop who used to work there so I already had an insight to their work. He seems keen to do it as I described how far I wanted to take the car and that everything else is in great condition and needs the paint work to fully make this car. As I was a recommended through a guy that once worked there plus the effort I have gone to already, he knew this would be a good car to paint for referral work. He also said that the Corrado was the best car VW made and that more or less sold it for me! I had to agree! He also made me feel confident that the job would be to the highest standard and that I would be very happy with the outcome. So unless these 2 other guys really impress, it should be ready by the middle of jan. He recommends ICI paint that they can mix on site.

Hello and welcome, There is a vast knowledge on this forum and genuine people ready to help. I would look at the following: Water pump, check for leaks, check all pipe work for leaks. I assume you have checked you oil level and coolant level? I would also check that there is no air in the coolant system and that the fan is coming on. Otherwise this could be the fan switch module/sensor. I recommend a good G3 mop polish, which will hopefully blend all the paintwork. Its takes a layer off the paint to reveal fresh new paint and works really well. Then polish it after to seal the fresh paint. Type any of your questions in the search box, nr the top of the page, or use the advance search just below that. Have a good read and take it from there. D P.S Your fan blower maybe a result of a faulty heater matrix? Check for wet carpets near the passenger foot well. It could be a simple fuse or switch? Do do the matrix is quite time consuming but one of those jobs most of us will probably tackle at some point.

Isn't Hammond still under Paul Mecenna's spell thinking all Porches are the best cars in the.......................... world! :D All the cars chosen seem to fit their age group well, if it was me, I would definately take the fezza!

Peter, the guy doing the car at present has lead filled the bonnet as he rubbed it down to see worm like rust spots, he showed me the pictures and just still amazed at how talented this guy is. Not many people do lead soldering these days. What do you think of progress?
-
Some update pictures, prep work to be finished in a few days and sorting out a company to do the base coat. I have to choose out of 2 guys, both known to be exceptional. If I can get it in asap then I can get the car collect and delivered. I have all new rubbers except for the top door rubbers surrounds, might order them but they cost an arm and a legg. If I wanted new rubbers for the rear side windows, will I have to order new glass? Or are they available seperately?

I have decided to keep the carpet as it is and have black with black. You are right, the exterior colour is why it wont work. But it is striking. Just picked up the sunroof lining and gear gator and surround ready to be re trimmed.
-
either or, so all black interior with red carpet or black carpet, black interior and cream plastics? I agree, cream black and red is too much
-
Just had an idea whilst looking at the website for the company doing my re trimming and thought, would red carpet look nice with the all black leather interior. I like the black leather seats and for those who don't know me really well, (I can get carried away easily) thought, mmm, maybe with red carpt, including the boot floor carpet. This is the bit where I get carried away...... could all black leather interior work with cream leather knappa A, B C Pillars etc? I have always been a fan of cream leather wondered what it mught look like? Reading through some old posts many years ago where my VR was burgandy colour and questioned back then if people thought a cream leather interior would look plush. So could the black and cream look plush or wrong? I wish I knew how to use a computer and could see a visual of the corrado interior with the different cominations? I just dropped the interior off tonight so can change my mind from black to cream. P.S The car is Mystic Blue

I took my interior plastics, A, B, C pillars, roof lining, handbrake plastic cover, all the tailgate plastics and some areas near your feet. The sun visors will be done also, the passenger one is easier than the drivers side. So I need to decide if the drivers mirror will be covered up or if I can get hold of another visor.... it could be modified so the mirror could be set back in? I'm going for a full leather retrim in Knappa leather to match existing leather. The head liner will be in alcantara along with the visors. This is through a local company that do Ferrari and Porsche re trims and service all the main dealers. They are known as the top guys. They are certainly not cheap but I think it will be worth it  www.kbaggstrimming.co.uk He is also going to fix my door cards, the leather needs re sticking where it folds over the top of the door card and one corner on the drivers door will be stretched and fixed to tidy the corner. I have just realised that I didnt give him the gear gator plastic surround, will the storm badge come off the console so it can be re trimmed and stuck back on?
-
Hi guys I had everything bar the bloddy ecu/fuse box loom so it didnt get installed. I even had the manifold polished! Cheers for the encouragement guys :D I want to have my head lining re trimmed and the sunroof, sun visors etc. Wondering what colour to go for or the type of material? Any suggestions? Whilst the interior is out thought it would be a good time to update speaker wiring and or put in an amplifier kit? I don't want a sub, just excellent sounding speakers/components amped up. Which amp wiring kits do people recommend? My first corrado had 2 15 rockford punch xlc's with massive rockford amp and could vibrate my glassess of the dash. 8) been there and got the t shirt. I need to talk to the guy that trims the interior plastics on this forum, I like the idea of them being trimmed but don't want them to stand out as the leather looks different to the seats for example? What do you think? Has anyone had their car done so I can see how it all blends in?
