  1. This forum acts as counselling for people who own C's.
  2. I got new abs rings from ebay, brembo discs from ebay, bearings from vw, callipers from ebay and hose kit through amazon!
  3. Got a set of mk4 rear callipers and carriers if you want them?
  4. Passenger foot well on the right side behind the trim cubby hole thing (on mine it is anyway)
  5. Not with out alot of machining of parts IIRC. You thinking for the barrel style bearings instead of tapered?
  6. I rebuilt my 9a with; New VW bearings (crank and conrod) New vw crank oil seal New VW piston rings Kr head with twin kr exhasut cams Honed and decked block All new gaskets S/S 4 branch Panel filter Lightened fly Then got the fuelling sorted at Stealth and rolling roaded at 170bhp.

  8. Old scummy discs; New Brembo discs with vw bearings; MK4 rear callipers vs standard vr; ---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ---------- Replacing damaged dust seal; ---------- Post added at 05:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ---------- Good ridge mk2-mk4 hoses; Back together; ---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:31 PM ---------- Turbo goodies!; Also got my downpipe and 2mm spacer plate. ---------- Post added at 05:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:33 PM ---------- Rear callipers need de-greasing and another coat of black to hide the red. Braking performance is increased and hand brake holds very firm on 2-3 clicks so im very happy! Got a mk4 rear calliper conversion write up to complete if people want it!
  9. Same size discs. The callipers are much less likely to seize and my handbrake is much more effective.
  10. Mine came from a bora, any mk4 ones, its worth noting the state of the dust seals unless you want to replace them any way (I did as one was ripped)
  11. With me the problem is whenever a standard part gives up the ghost i spend 5 times as much replacing it with an aftermarket part or replacing everything near the part which might be old. A nice standard example which has been serviced regularly should be no problem. Always things like chains for a vr or charger rebuild with a g60 to think about so try look for a car which isnt due wither of these in the near future.
  12. So this wasn't the one you bought and fitted to your late vr???
  13. Is this the one you have which doesnt fit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360322451716 Its the one i ordered, looks like this one is totally different; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360322452672&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
  14. Have you managed to sort the problem? Earths are new, battery seems to hold charge, starter cranks the engine quickly.
  15. Thanks Kev, just got the car back. Effing typical, car broke down at 11, came back to it a few hours later when cool, still nothing. Called the AA, 30 mins later i try to restart, nothing. AA man arrives (6.5 hrs after the car broke down), i sit in the car, describe the problem with the pump not priming and turn the key to illustrate. Car fires in to life first turn. I apologise profusely and drive the car home. Try to restart it and nothing, quickly checked for spark and its sparking fine. As far as im aware there is nothing aftermarket, the entire car was totally standard, it has the vag siren, vag fob and no paperwork or evidence otherwise. It still has the factory scorpian alarm box in the passenger footwell which i attacked when i first had the problem. Forgot to mention i also tested and replaced the fuel pump relay. Whats the best way to test the pump, complete removal jobbie?
  16. Kev your a hero, it has a horrible plain chicken breast on brown bread with no mayo because im cutting weight. It was dry, very dry. I'll have to check on the ecu number. It has the factory alarm, not sure of the state of the immobiliser or if it works as the factory remote central locking doesnt work. I've checked for spark but not fuel pressure. I know when the car is going to start because i hear the priming noise coming from the rear near side by the fuel pump and it fires as soon as i crank it. Sometimes when hot you wont hear the pump prime and i know it won't start before i have even cranked it. The car doesnt begin to fire its like its not fuelling at all unless you hear the pump prime.
  17. Right i am about to go outside and burn the car. The hot start problem hasnt happened like this since i've had the sensor placed. I stopped outside the bakery in town got a sandwhich and the car wouldnt start. Been on a 1hr drive before so it was fully up to temp. The problem is the fuel pump is not priming and it wont start. What is the process between turning the key and the car starting. By this i mean exactly what signals are sent and recieved in order for every process to occur and the car actually starts. I've replaced; -Fuel filter -Engine eath -Blue collant sensor -Leads -Plugs -Coil pack isnt that old What exactly is the process of the fuel pump priming? What prevents it from priming?
  18. Im going to try fitting the 25mil rear arb and checking all the bushes, maybe some replacent beam bushes. I get the 'feeling' the uncertainty in long corners is coming from the rear, do you have similar feelings?
  19. Do you have a rectangular dash blank?
  20. What effect would dead rear beam bushed have? I sometimes have the same issue, lack confidence on long sweeping fast corners and the car pulls left under acceleration. My mk2 violently jerked left under accel and it ended up being a loose front wishbone bolt.
  21. Keeping my car so def interested :)
  22. So one set is just thicker than the other?
  23. I ve disconnected the resistor but i dont think its changed anything? I still have the small bulb on all the time in one head light and the small bulb never on in the other. What does unplugging the resistor do? It might have sorted the overly bright sidelight but I can't tell because its sunny outside.
  24. Something is up with my home made uprated loom. I ve only hooked it up to one headlight so i could compare to the other one and make sure at least one works. I have a 4 relay setup (with only 2 being used at the moment for the 1 headlight). This is what im getting with the headlights; (Left is unmolested right is plugged into the relays). The Headlight has the larger Main Bulb and the smaller bulb below it, then there is the seperate spot light for full beam on the inside. Side lights Left......................................... Right Main bulb ON DIM.......................Main Bulb ON BRIGHT & smaller bulb ON Dipped Beam Left...........................................Right Main Bulb ON BRIGHT...................Main Bulb ON BRIGHT & small Bulb ON Full Beam Left..........................................Right Main Bulb ON BRIGHT..................Main Bulb ON BRIGHT Inner Lamp ON BRIGHT...............Inner Lamp ON BRIGHT & small bulb ON The problem i seem to get is people flashing me when my lights are dipped, the smaller bulb is on all the time on the right headlamp and never on on the left headlamp.
  25. Sorry i thought it was a bee sting design but its actually a replacement base right? You then screw in the old antenna.
