Black Magic VR6 - Turbo shopping list started...

Im having horrible second thoughts about selling the vr for an s3....Im worried i'll miss the rado once its gone the same way i regretted selling my mk2. Do i spend the extra money on the vr that i was saving to spend on the s3?! Test drove another s3 today and i wasn't blown away, we spent more time talking about my vr i drove there in. If i end up staying with the vr i would spend around 2k on performance parts, perhaps a diy turbo kit or vortex.... Im so confused now!! -

No not a dealer, just a garage that was meant to specialise in van repairs i think. I didn't plug it in myself as my rip off ross tech software is so temperamental i dont actually trust it. (Getting the real deal when i pick up an s3). The pedal had no reaction and would hit the floor with all/some braking coming from the final few cm's of travel. If rapidly pumped there would be some brake pressure. Pedal was exactly the same after the master cylinder was swopped, dash warning light still on (flickering all the time) as before. What annoyed me is that the woman was trying to claim i didnt inform them about the dash light. 1. I did, in great detail, explain that it was on and what it meant, 2. If you sit in the cab with the keys in, let alone drive it, you see the bloody red light glaring you in the face!!! :censored:

I took in our work van (vw lt 35)last week as the brakes weren t working and the warning light was on (The one for oil, coolant or brakes not check engine). They diagnosed the problem as the master cylinder and replaced it at 230 all in. I picked up the van, there was still little to no response from the brakes and the warning light was still on with a note saying the pedal would feel spongy for a while. A week and a half later the pedal and brakes were no better so i took it back in. After a few days they called me back saying it could be the front or rear compensator but they weren't really sure, i asked the guy if he could plug it in as it was showing a warning light and had abs, he said " errrr yeah, errrr we'll try that".. Several days later they identify the fault as the abs module (or modulator as he called it, not sure which is correct but he sounded stupid saying it!) and that it would be over £1000 for a new one. They then decide they can get it refurbed but cant quote me a price and say they have sent it off. I argued with the receptionist (old bag) that they had wrongly diagnosed and replaced a working part which was not causing the problem and had given the van back to me in a worse state if anything. She argued that i had no mentioned the warning light originally and so they hadnt seen it (Which is bright red and on the whole time) when i had very clearly explained it was on in person and over the phone and even went to the trouble to find out what the light meant. She also argued that this was the cheapest possible solution to the problem and any other garage would have done the same thing. I argued that they hadn't diagnosed the problem properly as part of the service they charge for and therefore should make some form of compensation for the rest of the work. Aaaaaaanywho, where do i stand with paying for the rest of the repairs and money i've paid them already for 'fixing' the van?

Yeah couldnt get hold of it on its own, got quaoted 2 prices for gearknobs, a leather one for arounds 35 and another one for muchless, the dealer couldnt provide much more info though! Im guessing the vr has the exspensive leather one....?

Just a quick question tried searching but no luck, is the gear knob sticker (showing gear position) available separately from vw or do you need to buy the whole knob?

Before I had my car I was looking for a 20vt rado but I ended up buying the vr after I viewed it, 6.5k is about a grand over my budget unfortunately. Looks great though! Think it would struggle with all that power going through the front wheels without traction control and LSD though! Edit; just seen quaife LSD in spec, does that belong to someone on here?

I owned a g60 before and I loved it, went on to build a pretty rapid 2l 16v mk2 but that felt too much like a go kart and I was a bit embarrassed about turning up to my army selection board in a car that couldnt clear the speed bumps and sounded like a NASCAR. Vr6 rado gave me a quick grown up looking car which was still plenty of fun. I'm now just looking for an upgrade really along the same lines, plus I'm loving the tuning potential of the 20vt, always wanted a turbo charged car!

I'll say what most people think....It's a girls car :fondle: ..... Only joking, I ve got my heart set on an s3, did have a quick look at the tt there seem to be loooaaads for sale at the moment, most with high miles though. Can humans fit in the back?

For people looking at the 72k mile VR6 near Bournemouth....
harryc replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Dealers tend to be very selective about what deatails they put up, looked at 2 golfs today for my girlfriend, seemed amazing on the ads, one had mould ALL over the interior and the other had dents and scratches on every panel and a list of advisories that included every brake and suspension component, was angry we had wasted the time going to see them...I will be in touch once the works done on mine if your still looking for a clean vr by the end of Jan! -
Wow shizer! Did you notice the mounts on their way out before this happened or was it out of the blue?

What are you looking for in your next car? If you're looking for a reliable daily then I'd have the S3 (or a 4Mo). If your priority is engine noise and the rarity factor (and you can put up with a occasional niggles) then I'd suggest keeping the Corrado. What is it that you love about the Corrado and what is it about it that makes you want to change it? Maybe the 4Mo is a good compromise if you're after the big engined feel with 4WD and slightly more modern? I know you've already dismissed the 4Mo but if you wanted to have a good look around a low mileage well looked after one, and a bit of a drive without feeling rushed on a test drive, then you're more than welcome to pop over and take a look at mine. It's not for sale and it's the 5 door version so wouldn't be what you're looking for anyway... but it might help your decision a bit. I'm not too far away from you. Sorry to throw another decision your way but have you considered a mk1 TT? Lovely cars and I'd have one over an S3, and they are probably the closest you'd get to a modern Corrado (excluding the new Scirocco which is way more expensive). I like the TT from a performance point of view but being a 6'1" rugby player i dont think i could get away with it. Again with the 4 motion im just not a fan of mk4 shape but thanks for the offer if i do change my mind il def take you up on it! I love the looks of the rado and the noise it makes. What i dont like is that squeezing extra power out of it is going to be expensive. I like the idea of easily having 280bhp with £400 and 4wd in the s3 and having a newer interior etc.

Wow! Looking great! Im liking the gunmetal the manifolds painted in.
