  1. rest of the car looks sweet! not sure on the gold VW badge personally I'd stick a new panel in, won't show up the repair work as easily if at all
  2. this is all pretty complicated stuff (well it is for me... turbo novice!) I think I should get it built, mapped and RR'd and see what it's running
  3. Just a couple of ideas (as you know kinda new to the whole Corrado + G60) 440cc Injectors 3.5Bar FPR Cam Big valve ported head 8) Usual crank/flywheel work and a custom remap that should give you a few more horses to play with
  4. if you strip the car down yourself you will save a small fortune but to be honest a sand down and respray will look just as good if it's done properly A proper bare metal respray would mean stripping the car down to it's bare shell, removing all the paint, underseal and that painfully tuff rubber stuff VW use then painting everything and bolting the whole lot back together... alot of work and at bodyshop prices you could buy another C for probably less my 2 pence worth anyway (some would say I'm worth less)
  5. quiet new here but gone through most of this thread and think your car is one of the best! you seriously can't give up on it! looking forward to seeing it at some shows 8)
  6. the VF24 is good for around 17-18psi which should be enough, give's me room for improvement if I want more boost at a later date by putting a VF22 in 8)
  7. g60dave yeah all this on the 8v G60 lump I'll be happy if it is over 280bhp.. in fact if I'm honest, I'll be happy if it doesn't blow up in the first 50 miles  LSD is £670 from Jabba... but about £450 from the US, probably £550 inc. delivery so that's gone onto the list If I win the race it'll be the only time the C see's the strip, so will get some video footage.. and I don't win then I'll see how badly the guy with the Elan rubs it in my face  been doing some reading and the Elan is only 96Kg lighter which I'm happy about! was expecting a difference of 150-200Kg
  8. if it were me I'd jet wash everything and use some gunk (keeping electrics dry) then you'll have a better idea where the leak is coming from and if it's just the one
  9. very true... just keen to get it built and another £700 will set me back a month or 2 pointless doing it though unless I can get the power down enough like you say I did intend to put the engine in my Mk1 Golf, but it would be undrivable as a daily driver and ruin the character of the car IMHO
  10. sorry about the confusion, definately an Elan (it's a 92 J reg) Front wheel drive had a feeling I might have trouble with traction LSD's are very expensive aren't they? about £700?
  11. those pics look painful! one of the main reason's I'm continuing with the IHI turbo conversion, just know that would happen to me G-werks sound like the ultimate company to go to to get work done 8) Heard nothing but them going the extra mile to get people sorted out :thumbleft:
  12. here's the thing...not even a month into my build (engines still in bits etc..) I've thrown down the gloves and challenged someone with a Lotus Elan running 250Bhp to a quarter mile race once the C's finished he's ran the quarter in 12.9 which is quick! it's a 1.6T (unsure what other mods apart from the turbo) have any of you IHI turbo guys done the quarter? if you did, what did you run it in? I'm going to be using the VF24 I have, which comes in @ 2900rpm (a little sooner than the VF22) but will only give me around 17PSI of boost Red top injectors, got some custom pistons from Arias bored to 81.55mm, Jabba Big valve head to go on, lightened Flywheel, knife edged crank, I'll be getting a racing clutch, porting the inlet manifold etc.. will also get a custom remap once it's running but what sort of power do you guys think I be looking at? if I can get above 280bhp I'll be happy, is this going to be too optimistic considering it'll be running 17PSI? was going to go for a 2.0L bottom end but already have the pistons any comments/advise would be great
  13. tyre pressures are the least of my worries (they're bald on the front inner edges too) yeah would be good to see a gallery of all the colour choices hopefully mine will get to the standard of peoples car's here (apart from extreme nutters like A20 LEE etc..)
  14. quiet new to C's  ... mine's midnight blue but changes colour in different lights, looks more purple in the sunlight to me
  15. looks nice what colour is it? looks like the midnight blue I've got on my G60 8)

    Bootlid widths

what do you recon then guys? skinny bootlid or FUBAR body?
  17. PhillT

    Bootlid widths

nope, just a funny reflection making it look like a brake light here's the side profile best pic I have with the spolier down spoiler lines up fine as far as I can tell, tail lights are ever so slightly out of alignment on the passenger side (slightly lower by a mm or 2) but that's it I would have thought if the rear had been hit that hard that the rear quarters have popped out, then the boot floor or roof would be buckled, and/or the inside of the rear quarters would have signs of bending
  18. PhillT

    Bootlid widths

yeah that's the bit.. it seems to line up everywhere else apart from those sides
  19. PhillT

    Bootlid widths

shhhhh.. it's a different size  not the best picture but heres one I've already uploaded you can see the drivers side difference (can't see passenger side due to camers angle but it's the same) I'll get some better ones if needed

    Bootlid widths

    8) measured the boot on my lunchbreak 134cm wide on the widest part still 105cm along the rear lights and number plate so there's definately a 1cm difference in width!

    Bootlid widths

:thumbleft: That's great thanks, will check them out your an early rado ben?
  22. PhillT

    Bootlid widths

Cheers Chris, need the width of an early bootlid though
  23. don't like it! why make it look like a rebadged audi?
  24. PhillT

    Bootlid widths

hope so it's been replaced and was originally yellow.. I know there's quiet a few differences between early and late corrado's so was hoping one of them was width of the rear end I'll get some measurements over the weekend if someone wouldn't mind doing the same?
