Black engine enamel from frost more than likely
-
 it wasn't me honest it's powder coated 'baby blue' :gag: at the moment but it'll be stripped and polished to make it look worse, the guy who had it before painted the inlet manifold and various other bits in brake caliper blue paint :x everything is going to be stripped back and polished, block will be black
-
some more pics pistons very bad pic of the engine pic of the turbo hmmm.. missing a few interior bits :? (sorted that though)
-
:thumbleft: nice write up there, going to replace all the friction parts + braided hoses before mine's on the road, this will help me on the rear brakes
-
got a little further this weekend Battery tray is all welded up ready to prep and paint Got the wing back on, started to sand it down and remove a couple of minor dents test fitted the front panel 8) should look sweet when it's finished one more side view  covered in dust at the moment Piston crowns were 0.63mm too high so they've gone to be machined down and balanced up (should be ok but always good to check it) should start building the engine up next month FINALLY
-
If I wanted to go in the C -rebuild the bottom end (inc. rebalancing the crank, new lightened flywheel + clutch) -put engine together with new IHI manifold, injectors, FPR, list goes on -full respray, inc. finish welding the battery tray -get all the interior and fit it -replace all brake comp. and tyres, driveshafts, headlight + fog -MOT + tax but most importantly - NEW wiperblades :? or the Mk1 -replace split CV boot -sort out tracking -fix water pump leak some how think I'm missing this year

:x 12 bore shotgun wired to the door (unlocked).... they open it *BLAM* in the face! or just a shot to the ground would be enough to scare them to thinking you were waiting with a gun I overheard some kids talking about stealing my wheels in the middle of the night a couple of years back, they'd ran off before I even got to the door but was so stressed about it I drove around for half an hour trying to find them
-
8) looking good, you going to stoner park? planning on going if you want to meet up there for that chat? I've got a smaller version of your dent in the exact same spot I'll be tackling once I've finished replacing the battery tray
-
golfg60 + dinkus - names are on the list :thumb right: once I've resprayed a red door for my C I'll post some pics to give you a rough idea, will try and show what sort of colour match I can get for the smaller jobs (front end respray for example) should be in the next couple of weeks as I've not got much spare time at the moment
-
I'll add you to the list... looking very promising at the moment what I will do is get my C sprayed then you guys can view and decide for yourselves if the quality is good enough for your own cars even though I'd happily sort out any problems I'd rather not get problems in the first place  I think the problem is even when you pay £1500+ for a blow over, the end result still has an orange peel effect reflection! even for the factory IMO if your paying for a respray it should be almost mirror finish with a nice deep shine unless it's blended in to current paint!
-
honest gov.. wasn't me! that's my story and I'm sticking to it was in the boot of the C when I brought it, I don't need it so may as well go to good use
-
If you need some lead I've got a fair sized roll sitting in my garage doing nothing
-
replied GradeA
-
will do, cheers for the support Dixxy
-
got 6 full resprays possibly lined up (only been testing the water a day!) I'd be happy to, won't be set up to do the entire car for at least a few months though
-
:thumb right: Cheers Gaz I'm based between Reading and Wokingham happy doing the odd little jobs of wing mirrors, spoilers etc, piece of cake prefer not to do welding but the odd patch underneath isn't a problem
-
:? I'll never get the right topic to post in! Ta just really planning things out at the moment but it's a job that you get constant results from, and if someone wasn't happy with the work then it's just a matter of sanding back and doing it again might even go into using water-based paint as I'm told cellulose and 2-pack won't be used in the next few years got quiet a bit of interest at the moment (including a buick skylark! which is more of a favour than work as I want to do mainly V.A.G) so is looking very promising going to work out some price structure over the weekend/next week
-
I'm getting to the point now where I'm too *stressed* working in I.T. that I want to do something else loved spraying my Mk1 up and thinking about taking up car spraying (probably just V.A.G) the only problem I had with the Mk1 was the prep work after getting loads of heat distortion when I welded her up, but the paint was spot on (would have stayed good if I'd known Cellulose isn't completely water tight) will be getting myself on a few course's to learn the best technique's to prep a car but basically I would like to find out, who would be interested (If I do go through with it) in getting they're car sprayed? or a single panel? Prices would be cheap although it would probably take me a little longer to finish each job (prefectionist at heart) think I might use the Mk1 or the rado to show the quality, get a company name set up and start out in my spare time, and if I get enough interest and people are happy with the quality of work, go full time all opinion's and comments welcome
-
not a bad idea.. worth having a go while the car's in bits anyway
-
8) so for £13 you'll have a matching new lock actually on the subject, should the door locks be the same as the ignition key? mines had new handles+locks in the past and has an additional key just for the doors
-
If the lock barrels are the same as the Mk1/Mk2 Golfs then they can be re-tumbled to match your existing key for around £30 IIRC
-
ok this is actually driving me f***ing insane now!!!!!!!!!!

don't the VW thermostat's come with a little hole in the top anyway? -
 it's all good there's not many using the IHI turbo so good to know what you guys are up to with them  Got a Greddy controller on my shopping list.. won't be running without it (love my gadgets)

well if you can run it without the thermostat it'll give you more time to sort it I've not looked into the coolant system of the corrado yet (got to put the engine together first) but depending where the thermostat is it may well be stopping hot air from passing through the heater matrix just covering all the bases but did you make sure the heaters where on full heat before putting the coolant in? on a Mk1 it shuts off the flow of water to the matrix (which could be causing the lock) and should be on full heat when replacing the coolant -

had a similar problem with a F*ord and turned out to be a faulty thermostat supplied by F*rd themselves put a halfords jobbie in and all was well.. just goes to show you can't always trust main dealers also do you get hot air from the heaters? common on most cars that if you've got an air lock you won't get hot air definately sounds like the thermostat to me... try running it without one (not advisable during winter but now won't be a problem)
