    Bootlid widths

still can't work out how, even with a new panel in, why everything lines up apart from the bootlid edges at the bottom if the rear quarters were pushed out by an inch (total difference for both sides) wouldn't there be more areas that don't line up? think I'm just going to get the bootlid 'flared' out a little to line up properly because it's going to annoy me if I don't
  2. hope you took care of the door cards mate

    Bootlid widths

 thought that might be the case it has had a rear end shunt, the back panels been replaced but looks like a good job, the boodlid's also new might see if my bodywork mate can maybe pull the corners of the boot out to fit level as it'll stand out a mile after the respray

    Bootlid widths

Guys, I'm convinced the early rado's are wider than the later models. I have a VERY early 92 (basically 91) G60.. and the bootlids been replaced with one from what I believe is a later model and it's actually thinner than the body (the bottom corners of the boot do not line up to the rear quarters) to prove my theory, would some of you with early and late models measure from corner to corner of the bootlid and measure the distance from just above the rear lights (if that makes sense?)? If I'm wrong and there's no difference in bootlid widths... means the repairs made by a previous owner (one of many.. it's been written off twice and has had 4 Reg. no's!!!!) have done some strange things to the back end :(
  5. Ah thought that might be the case! I'm getting good at asking easy questions
  6. Phew! cheers guys, was getting a little concerned when I was reading horror stories about they're charger rebuilds and found nothing about they're head work does look like it's been done well but being my first proper engine rebuild/conversion I don't want anything to go wrong if I can help it
  7. I've got a PG Bottom end, it's been rebored to 81.55mm (with matching forged pistons) the oil and water ways haven't been cleaned or anything though, and the crank has been 'knife-edged' but I'm not convinced it's good quality work anyone know somewhere around Berkshire that could possibly sort out the crank, clean the block up (without having to rebore the bores again), then refit the crank to the block? I can take some pictures of the crank and block later if someone wants to take a look and let me know the condition?? any help would be great guys
  8. noticed while working on the bottom end last night that it was Jabbasport who did all the cylinder head work (larger exhaust valves, Ported and polished, valve stem oil seals etc..) I've heard some mixed views with Jabbasport and couldn't find anyone who'd had this done with a search anyone had cylinder work done by them?
  9. small update Got it back to my garage and gave it a quick polish got the front end off just trying to sort out where to get all the engine parts... I've noticed a few of you guys on here have already done the IHI turbo conversion To be honest... never had a car with a turbo so my knowledge is next to nothing! what modifications will I need to do to complete the conversion? I know I'll need Exhaust manifold and custom downpipe Larger intercooler (was thinking one from a Merc. Sprinter as they seem to be the common choice??) but what about pipework etc.. any help would be great guys
  10. Don't worry.. think I've found one EDIT: yep.. definately got one.. from russia with love
  11. I've searched for the past half hour and found some info but I'm after a complete wiring diagram for my 91 G60 does one exist? I've found relay and fuse info, fuel pump/injectors etc... but would be soooo nice to have a complete diagram
  12. everything else lines up fine... might just be me! need to have a look at another C to check if it's the same! if the lines are not 100% perfect I start picking holes and complaining  just doesn't look right to me though, I'll get some close up pics when I pick it up once I've got a list of all the engine work that's been done I can start a list of what's needed... think I'll get the body up the scratch first though you know your stuff Blue_Joe, I'll add a FPR and some injector's to the list
  13. thanks mate that's spot on :thumb right:
  14. sorry I'll explain that one basically, the boot sides are not lining up with the side of the car, the rear quarter sticks out by almost 1cm either side... so wondered if the boot is too narrow does that make better sense?
  15. as title really! brought my G60.. engines in bits and I have no idea where all the wires will need to go.. I've tried finding some good engine shots so I can work out what connector's go where but I'm pants at searching for things  so anyone got some close-up shots of the entire engine bay?
  16. Cheers for the comments guys 8) will get some better pics up once I've given it a proper clean not looked into injectors much really and don't know if the one's with the engine are standard, but looking at getting some red top ones, think they go to 3.3 Bar don't they?
  17. Ah I see, that' cool apparently I've been told I need to get a Porsche fuel pressure regulator to get more fuel in??? does this sound right at all? not sure what injectors are with it.. but thought as long as the fuel pump is pumping enough fuel in, I'd just need different injectors to let more in instead of a FPR? sorry for all the questions... got a feeling I'll be asking many more though
  18. Yeah going to stick with the same colour, just want it spotless  pick the engine up this afternoon, needs a few parts and completely building up! probably won't be ready until summer next year but will keep you posted on the progress will get a couple more pics of the car once it's been washed too
  19. Oh go on then basically the Chargers gone  so won't be in on the race (and probably miles behind) to replace the charger it's got a Subaru WRX turbo (not sure on what code's on it yet), Forge pistons (new), the cylinder heads been ported and has larger exhaust valves (he didn't mention the inlet valves so assuming they're standard), it's got a remapped chip to give 1.1 Bar of boost and he mentioned some other chip (SRS??? or something).. the guy I've brought it from said the engine will be good for 2 Bar from that I'm hoping to get race spec conrods and lighten+balance the crank and flywheel my turbo knowledge is limited so it's going to take me a while to learn it all also never worked on a corrado so wiring it all back in is going to be fun  it should run just over 300Bhp... but it is cheating bolting a turbo on! I'll have a search about here but has anyone else done this conversion? any tips and advice would be great
  20. picking the engine up this afternoon and this later on in the week bit of a dent in the wing only bit of rust is here replacement battery tray from VW.... £65.60 :x engine's going to be something a bit special (still 8v) and will get some pics when I pick it up will get a full respray including engine bay to get rid of the odd tiny dent here and there and the laquer (spelling ?!?!) has started peeling on the roof if someone has a spare minute and a tape measure, would you be able to do me a favour and measure the length of the boot from corner to corner? the one on it isn't wide enough and sits in about 1cm in on either side of the body  makes a change from digging rust holes bigger than my head to weld up  what do you guys think?

    Rust

going to look at a G60 tomorrow/Saturday where's the common rust spots on them? any areas to look out for? any help would be great as my knowledge on rust spots is limited to the Mk1 golf
  22. Cheers billinjahg60 :thumbleft:
  23. anyone? :( just after an approx. value of an average condition shell
  24. Cheers for the welcome rolex I've not phoned around anywhere yet, thought I'd try the forum's first thinking around £300 for a rolling shell that needs a bit of paint would be fair? I've not seen it yet so there may be some rust that needs taking care of
  25. Hi everyone, not sure If I've got the right section.. hope so basically just after a bit of advice been on at a mate of mine for ages about selling me his G60 engine who's finally agreed to sell it to me but it'll be running around 290Bhp+ as the chargers gone and it's half way through a turbo conversion (needs a manifold to finish). that will be too much for my Mk1 Golf really so I'm going to buy the whole car off him it's missing all interior, roof needs a respray and there's a couple of trolley dents in the wings, it's Midnight blue, all the running gear etc. is standard can anyone give me an idea how much the shell's worth? hopefully going to get the lot off him and rebuild it as a weekend/track car.. and part time daily drive when the Mk1's off the road for major work any help would be great nice site by the way
