  1. Shame this isn't the production car, if it looked like this i would of sold my C to put down a deposit and i'd cycle to work in the mean time!
  2. Im trying to decide between replacing the stuff in the first aid kit, to actually make it useful, or to keep the original stuff in there, original, but useless
  3. I bought the first see i went to look at, all seemed very straight at the time but needed an engine rebuild less than 6 months into ownership. Kinda regret not looking at more, but its definately been a bonding experience these last two years
  4. The orginal warning triangle and first aid kit? with ALL the original bits and pieces in there?
  5. The motor will only turn so far in each direction, it could be possible then on the slide function the motor has reached the end of its travel. You can dismantle it and play around with the motor to ensure that it has enough travel in either direction to both tilt and slide it. I also believe that somewhere on the motor mechanism you can wind it round with an allen key
  6. I think that bigger/better brakes are probably on my list of winter mods, ive only got a standard valver, but the brakes do feel shocking sometimes. Leon cupra discs, pads and calipers should sort that, braided hose lines are probably a good idea, and if you've not already i would look at replacing the master cylinder, i know the standard ones are steel and can rot away, replacement ones should be aluminium
  7. Wonder where he gets his gear from, hmmm
  8. Fitting VR hubs is more expensive than people think, as there is two ways of doing it, the easy way, and the right way, i'd rather do it the right way when time allows. The reason im going for adapters is because im goin away on Tues until the 25th, and the car needs to be done for E38, so its really down to a time constraint now, so it looks like adapters will be the solution for now.
  9. Im getting conflicting opinions because im now told that 8's with ET16 will be fine at the front, hmmmm
  10. Well i popped down my local parts dealer last night and order some NGK plugs, VAG ht leads, VAG oil and air filter, and the recommended oil. So hopefully it'll be servicing time next weekend
  11. Ok, im having an ongoing problem with my wheels. They're 16x8 with an offset of 36, but they're 5x100 and my valver is obviously 4x100, so i need to get them to fit. I was simply going to buy some adapters, but ive been told that an offset of 16 will be fine at the rear, but not at the front. So what i basically need are some pictures of 8" front wheels with an offset of 16ish, so i can see what im working with. Please help me out as im hoping to order everything tonight before i go away this weekend.
  12. Well adapters wont work due to the offset of 36 on the wheels, so the fronts will be too wide, christ this is getting complicated. I might just sell them and buy some wheels that actually bloody fit!
  13. Sound, i shall pop in tomorrow after work and see how i get on
  14. This is the first time im going to service my valver myself, mainly because i want to make sure that only the best components are used, so basically i just need to know what i need. Im after some good HT leads, spark plugs and oil. Anything else? and where is the best place to go? Any help is appreciated guys. Also, how easy is it to change the gearbox oil?
  15. Its more of the time constraints now, on tues im on hols until 25th, and i need to get it sorted for E38
  16. Is it still posibbly to buy tid bits from VW? Im after the bolt that attachs the rear suspension to the trailing arm. The two bolts that attached the front suspension, some rubber hangers for the exhaust, some u bolts for the exhaust, and a few other bolts and such. Can these still be purchased from VW?
  17. I got it all off yesterday mate and its pretty much knackered, so im now after some second rear suspension, job lot
  18. ugh... more than that.. I think that this list is reasonably definitive... 20 VR6 Lug Bolts spare wheel? VR6 rear Rotors Front VR6 Brake lines VR6 Sway Bar and End Links VR6 Control Arms and bushings VR6 Drive Shafts and bolts for tranny VR6 Steering Knuckles VR6 Bearings VR6 Tie Rod Ends VR6 Front Rotors VR6 Spindles VR6 Hubs wheel adapters it is then!!! Question is though, am i going to be ok with 8's all round PLUS the width of the adapters? I guess i need to know the ET to know that, hmmmm
  19. Whats needed? I ask because i have a 1990 valver and my wheels that need fitting are 5x100 VR fitment. I was going to get some adapters, but at £150 plus shipping (and more wheel bolts) it might end up being cheaper to just convert the car to 5 stud. So, whats needed?
  20. Ok, i have a 1990 valver with standard (broken) suspension at the minute, but i have a set of FK coilover waiting to go on, so with this lowerage i am also sorting out my wheels that ive had in the garage for the best part of 18months. Now, these wheels are all 16x8, however, they are 5 stud, so i'll be needing some adapters too, my question is, will the fronts be ok at 8" wide PLUS the adapters? If so whats the maximum i can really lower the car before i start to run into problems? Also, im after some tyres that offer a small amount of stretch, ive been recommended 195/40/16's, would this be correct? Im only after a small amount of stretch, nothing over the top, i want it to handle well. Lastly, what tyres do people recommend? Ive normally used Toyo Proxes in the past, but ive been recommended to try Pirelli P zero nero's, any thoughts on this? I can get them from mytyres for £78 a pop, i'd rather pay more for good tyres than less for poopty ones. Sooooo, please feel free to help as much as you can, it all needs sorting before E38
  21. Ive got some FK's waiting to go on, but they're not ready yet, so does anyone have some early rear suspension going cheap?
  22. What do we think? Sooooo, does anyone have early valver rear suspension they can sell to me? Like right now?
  23. Perfect to be honest, and that price is a bloody steal!
  24. Its definately an illness! I've got a 2nd one arriving this weekend
  25. That white one at the top of this page is gorgeous, unfortunately it looks nothing like that. And i know they want to 'please the masses', but the masses want to be inspired. The masses will be a golf, people who want something different would have gone for the rocco IIIFFFF it was like the white one, but it isn't, so people are likely to go elsewhere. If i had £20k-£22k in my pocket i would be looking at a Focus more than the rocco. Im sorry, but VW have had a swing and a miss with this thing
