My rado has been sat in the sun unwashed for the past 6 weeks, so now i have oxidation on the bumpers, roof, bonnet, spoiler, everywhere basically. Ive got some autoglym polish but it doesnt seem abrasive enough to get rid of it. Soooo, what do i need?
-
Like this: Fun times no? As said, it'll be the metal top plate, it just rusted through on mine and died, on closer inspection the entire suspension wasnt too magic, so i just bagged me some coilovers!
-
Local draper stockist cant get the parts until next week, so after work tomorrow im doing a tool run around all the local places, i know exactly what i need, just need to find it
-
Whose the guy with the grey hair that does the gadget show too, he wobbles his head all over the place when he talks, winds me up when people do that!
-
Some people want cheap reliable motoring, like the new clio, the 1.2 base model is just £99 a month, cheaper that running a rado! lol
-
5th for reviews, top gear for entertainment. Lets be honest, the BBC want viewers, and top gear gives them that! Top gear is done too far in advance, like this latest series, no review of the Scirocco or the Fiat 500 abarth, yet the magazine covered them tiiiiime ago, they need to do it more recently.

Has anyone else spent muchos time and money replacing/repairing their sunroof so that it slides again, only to not use it in fear of it breaking again?!?! Or is that just me?
-
I believe these go for relatively cheap money too, considering what you get, as the W8 factor puts people off

Air powered impact gun. Might struggle to get hold of one of those Ive just raided the Draper catalogue and found a 1/2" drive 7mm allen key socket and an extra deep offset 22mm spanner. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Ive also decided that payday = BIG tool box!
-
Remove their front suspension? The 22mm nut and the 7mm allen key needed is proving difficult. I basically want to know the easiest way of removing the front suspension, because im falling out with my car over this!

I think the rado was built as more of a motorway mile munching, which explains the slow steering rack and longer gear ratios than say, a mk2 golf. Flaws: Sunroof Headlights (how did they pass safety checks!!) understeer (not necessary a flaw, but still) cant think of anymore right now

problem with the DC5 is that they're £12k-£15k, and when you have that sort of money it opens up a whole mountain of options -
Ive purchased all new suspension bolts and top mounts, so thats taken care of, and it'll definately have the tracking done once they're on.
-
I simply could not afford to spend much more, i looked at the suspension thread and it was full of people opting for £1200-£1500 KW's, i just dont have that kind of cash!! and lets face it, if i could pull £1200 from out my arse i wouldnt be driving a valver! I considered the AP ones too, but i'd heard more about the Vmaxx ones so i opted for them. I'll definately still have the rado in two years, its put me through and cost me too much for me to part with it, its gotten to the point where if i did want another car the rado would be taken off the road for an overhaul and used as a second car, i dont think i could physically sell it. How sad
-
Ive ordered some Vmaxx ones, heard nothing but good things about them and they look the part. Plus they come with a 2yr warranty, so £300 for 2yrs of happy lowerage is fine by me!
-
Cheers guys From the looks of things i might leave this job until after E38 so that my boot isn't in pieces
-
Is there a guide for doing this? Mine has died and the wires looks like an electrical jungle under there!
-
Ive just realised that mine is infact just a list of general faults
-
The lowering 'notches' on the rear is putting me off a little to be honest, for £300 i think im gonna go with the Vmaxx ones, red too which is a nice bonus.
-
Intermittent problem for the past year, i turn the key and nothing happens, so i take the key out, then back in and turn it again, and its fine. The rear wiper turns on, but not off (relay most likely). My spoiler went up one day, and then never went back down, it just died (to do list). The rear top mounts died, causing the rear suspension to collapse. The side lights turned themselves on and flattened the battery. From time to time when i set the alarm all the turn signals remain on, they only turn off when you disconnect the battery for an hour or so. The alarm fob eats batteries. The water expansion tank cracked and poured water over the alarm control unit, killing the car (E38 2006). Hmmm, i think thats everything. Oh yeah, lastly its cost me around £5k in the past 2 years, and visually is worse than when i bought it

Firstly, i know there is a 'suspension' thread, but searching through 30 odd pages will take forever to get my answer. Basically i need some coilies sharpish, my rear suspension is dead so everything needs replacing. I've already bought new nuts and bolts etc from VW, so just need to choose me some coilies now. The car will be sat on 16x8 rims with an offset of 16, so it wont be massively dropped, but still needs to look impressive. So, any suggestions for my budget?

The new one is a DC5, awesome looking things. Take one for a test drive, it'll be very different from the VR -
I think the second hand market in general is a little ropey, increased taxes on 2001-2006 cars, increased taxes for older non-cat cars etc etc, people dont really know whats goin on. Plus petrol, will it reach £2 a litre, will it drop again, etc etc. The housing market is all over the place too. Some say it will stabilise, some say prices could fall by 10-20%, uncertainy leads to lack of action by people. Like myself, im in a position where i want to and can afford to move out, but i dont want to due to raising petrol, food and energy prices. I think bit decisions are just being avoided at the minute

Something about the new Scirocco I like at last
skinnyman9000 replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
I do know what you mean. But VW would never have the scrotal capacity to make something that looked like that. I just can't wait to see one in real life. You can't truly make your mind up until you do. True, in the metal will make or break my opinion, like the Eos. Although the picture i posted above isnt a million miles off the new Seat coupe thingy -
