  1. No not new runaround too bloomin far away 268miles I think the autotrader reckoned just thought that with the electric recaro's that are supposed to be in mint condition and all the other parts you could break off the car you could make a tidy profit like nige said previously!!

  3. I had a good day out apart from the 2 1/2 hour wait in the queue for my first run and then the 3/4 hour wait on the other 2 runs bit dissapointed about that I didn't realise it was a street racer sunday all those bl**dy drag cars pushing into the queue was doing my head in. Oh and a pretty shi*y drive home as well as most of you know :( on the bright side once I advanced the ignition timing a bit the car was much better pulled off a 14.7sec quarter reckon it could have done with being advanced just a touch more but just couldn't be bothered to queue up again, just as well really as that mad capri blew his load all over the track which closed it for another half an hour. It was nice meeting up with you guys again next time I hope to have a 13sec car we'll just have to see what happens over the next few months :D. The vids are being edited at the moment so should have some footage for you to see when I get it off my mate ( word of warning though he's a ford finatic so there will probably be quite alot of fords on the vid)
  4. I have never had to remove the bumper to get the I/C out but then again I haven't got the scoop in place and never have done but I believe the scoop is connected to the front bumper by a screw that is in the black under grille of the bumper. If you can take this scoop out then you will reveal another bolt that holds the cooler in place at the front of the intercooler if I remember correctly it's a 10mm nut you have to undo it's almost directly under the battery tray then you should be able to remove the cooler!! I hope this is of some use to you!! Good luc!!

    Oh Bugger

Cheers guys for your support!! First off yes hopefully I will be going to no rice I will just bum a lift with someone else who is going The part number for the new improved bolt is N903-208-02 Talking to a few vw mechanics earlier it's near on definate that valves would have been bent and as you say the pistons are quite strong but dont really care at all now as I have almost definately made up my mind that the car will be coming off the road to be stripped, roll caged, boarded, race seats, full respray ( again but properly this time) and a full engine re work ( probably 2ltr crossflow) needles to say it will be quite a few months before I can pay for all this so the car would be off the road for a considerable amount of time but it will be worth it. I want to do most of the work myself but there are a few elements that I am not happy with doing myself so will leave that to the pro's. I have now gotta find myself a cheap run around I'll probably start looking tomorow at cars seen a mk2 golf gti 8 valve white full years mot and tax at a a stupidly low price so will probably be a complete sh**er but worth a look anyway at £195at least the insurance can easily be tranfered over!! I probably wont get roubnd to stripping the car till the weekend as it is getting dark too early to be able to do anything in the light but will keep every one posted on the progress I make looking forward to it actually it might have been a sh*ty thing to happen but at least it's given me the excuse to get round to doing it!

    Oh Bugger

Cool thanks Henny I know exactly how ya felt mate when you had yours let go. I think VW realised there was a problem in this area as I have been told it has been modified and hardened might get one of those DX bolts anyways just to be safe if the valves are bent I might just as well go all out and pull the car off the road and do a 2ltr crossflow conversion as it wont cost much more than rebuilding the old engine!! Brian my car had just hit 118.500 miles yesterday it should be easy enough to change and will save you a few bob in the long run if it does decide to shear. I dont think I will have been lucky enough to not have bent a valve we'll just have to see
  7. Banana Man

    Oh Bugger

    Oh Bugger

After a non eventful day down at santa pod best time being 14.7 secs down the quarter ( only got 3 runs???) driving home the car suddenly cut out after 120miles I had just got into the town I live in and the car just died on me had a look round the car couldn't really see much coz it was dark and then I found it my heart sank when I found that the cambelt was loose I knew exactly what it was,the bloody crankshaft bolt had sheared off the annoying thing is that had been out and bought a new crankshaft bolt on wednesday after hearing about Henny's troubles with the bolt shearing I thought to myself better to be safe than sorry and then this happens before I even got a chance to fit it but there we go sods law in it's full glory. I am going to fit the new bolt tomorrow before I pull the head off to see if it is salvagable before the big expenses start rolling in hopefully I haven't bent the valves and put holes in the pistons but we'll have to see!!! Bugger Bugger Bugger  I would advise all you G60 owners to go to your local dealership and replace this bolt it only costs a few quid and could save you all the expense that I am probably going to endure!!!!!!
  10. Das ist very good ya!!! :D Have you been to pick up my cooler yet steve :D I'm sure that'll make a huge difference as the old cack intercooler is really struggling now need toget it on asap!!! I have now sorted all the little problems out now Dan so I'm gonna go kick some butt up the pod tomorrow, going to mount the digi camcorder on the dash for a few runs so I will post up the vid on here at some point soon :D Off to bed now goto get up early looks like it's going to be a busy one!!! :D
  11. 13. Hmmm maybe not the same bloke then as the last visit I went up against this civic it did a 14.5 sec @97mph I dont think it can be the same guy!!!! unless he's had all that work done since feb??

  15. :D :D LOL I agree the seats in the corrado are probably the best standard seat I have sat in I really like the driving position as well I think it is spot on better than my MK2 golf's standard seats before I put the corrado interior in it!
  16. I would of had a chat with but you weren't around when I was having a look at it. I Had my banana on the G60 power stand you would have probably noticed the lovely dent in the bonnet that happend on thwe way up DOH! :D
  17. I saw your car at the Editon 38 show had a good look round it too very nice motor :D I like the colour coded handles and the flushed rear bumper ( no exhaust poking out) :D
  18. I ve just fitted a toothed belt drive pulley system to my motor curtesy of Darren at G-Werks ( big thanks Daz :D ) even though the new ones haven't come into stock yet darren let me have the pulleys off his G60 as he is stripping it at the moment so I am very grateful as I can now go up Santa pod on sunday and kick some a*** :D as I now have no belt slip whatsoever :D :D :D it's so much fun and the pulley system has such a distinctive noise it's great :D I cant stop smiling :D :D :D
  19. Yeah it was a really well organised event shame my car looked a bit worse for wear due to the lovely dent in the bonnet and some paint missing oh well s*it happens :D And it was nice for tim, matt and you to come away with a trophy at the end of it as well. Very well deserved.
  20. I ve bought several sets of tyres from top gear and I cant fault them always next day delivery even when mytyres let me down and I was desperate they came to my rescue and they were cheaper than everyone else as well a big thumbs up
  21. Just got back from the show I went for the whole weekend I have to agree that the turnout wasn't great on saturday but today made up for it, the field was rammed with cars today. As usual it was an eventful weekend yes the car broke again on the way up to the show first of all I heard a big bang and a thud from the engine bay and then I saw the rather nasty dent in the bonnet with bits of paint flying over the windscreen, at first I thought it was probably going to be the front engine mount again but when I opened the bonnet I was quite suprised in fact what had happened was that the cooling fan for the alternator you know the one that sits behind the alt pulley decided to explode into 3 bits which then hit the bonnet and caused the damage. I didn't get to take a photo of it yet coz my digi cam decided to run out of battery power still I'm sure you will see the damage as quite a few people took some nice photo's of it through out the weekend. I'm still sufferering from the dodgy chicken kebab I had from the chippie on site and I'm pretty sure it wasn't chicken either more like a stray cat or dog or some local wildlife they picked off of the road at least I wasn't the only one suffering this morning ay Daz :D It was good to meet a few more people from the forum and get some more inspiration for the banana :D
  22. Right today I borrowed my mates 4 poster ramp I didn't want to udo all the exhaust manifold and inlet manifold as I was sure I wasd going to be able to get the thing rotated enough to pull it through over the power steering rack and the crossmember once I had cut off the old rusted bolts through the down pipe to system flange I attempted to go ahead and pull it through but no joy was had there as the driveshaft was stopping me rotating the downpipe to get a decent angle on it so I undone the inner cv joint and moved it to one side and after a lot of manipulation the downpipe came out front to back :D ( Just nice!! ) I thought it was going to be a mission putting the new downpipe in the way that the old one came out but it went in without any troubles at all :D Now it all back together it's all sweet again HOOORAH :D A 4 poster ramp made it so much easier than scraping around on the floor of my driveway with things 2 inches away from my face. I am physically tired now everything is aching on my body from working upside down but I would rather that than to have shelled out £100 in labour for someone else to do it. Now I can go to the show this weekend after all YIPEEEE
  23. ruffy, By any chance was he at santa pod earlier on this year feburary time as I raced a civic type R then I think it was T reg with tinted windows he just pipped me as we got to the line.
