The easiest way to time up the car is to first of all get the pistons to TDC and then from there you will neeed to have the rocker cover off align the 2 dots that are side by side on the pulley exactly level with the top face of the head at the front of the engine. Once that is done you will need to take the dizzy cap off and align the rotor arm contact with the little notch that is in the casing of the distributer body that will be where number one is firing first. Once that is done you will have to carefully put the timing belt on trying not to disturb the alignments you have made and then it's just a case of tensioning the belt tensioner up you should be able to twist the belt through 90 degrees if you cant do that then the belt has been tensioned too much and if you can easily turn it more than 90degrees it's not tensioned enough. Hope this all makes sense it worked for me so I dont see why it wouldn't work for anyone else

Yeah same size disc's throughout the range on the rear just the disc stud pattern different on the vr's. But the 92 on corrado's all have the same callipers as the mk3 golfs ( I think!!! ) the mark 4 golf callipers are the ones you want as they are alloy and aren't as prone to seizeing up like the corrado ones

I had a little coming together with audi tt 225 the other day and absolutely obliterated it I would have thought even if the GTi was a T model you should have easily kept up with it I think your ignition timing or fuel ratios must be well out if you can only muster up a measly 120mph as mine pulls hard all the way up to 150mph and then it gets a bit scary but I reckon it will go to 160mph-165mph if I had the balls to actually attempt it( on private roads of course :D )

I'm sure Mark16v will be going! Are we going to do the pre meet at the services again and then go in convoy always good for a laugh :D

IMHO = In My Honest Opinion ISV = Idle Stabilisation Valve The isv reroute is basically getting rid of the boost return pipe that goes back to the charger and routing the the isv back into the incoming boost pipe, what this does is put leaked boost ( from leaky ISV) back into the throttle body which would otherwise be wasted back to the charger. And it also makes a very distinctive noise when it dumps the boost after each gear change :D
-
Have you actually T'd in a dump valve or have you done the ISV reroute as both will have similar effect the only problem with a dump valve is that it will spray a fine mist of oil out each time it dumps off it's pressure which will coat your engine bay with oil. With the ISV reroute though you dont get the mist spraying out so in my view is a better way of going about it IMHO

I ve got a tsr ported and polished big valve head on mine with a piper bp270 mild road cam and with the newley ported bad boy style supercharger rebuild and the custom chip it really does fly. Have a word with Darren when you go to pick up your car Dave as They're crossflow conversion is definately the way to go if you are looking for big power and bags of torque steve will be able to sort a suitable chip and map it to your needs if you do go the big valve head route

Ok you need to get 3/16" th's vacuum hose all sorts of places sell it but it is best to get the overbraided stuff alot of diesels use the 3/16th's hose for things like spill off on the injectors go into your local mtor store or motor factors and ask for it you should be able to get hold of it no problem -
Yeah I'm here and count me in as well hehehe

Darren did the wiring on my car which I am more than happy with john did the mechanical side of things that have been giving me all the grief ie: cam timing lack of interest when provided him with the problems just told me it was all my fault and that there must be a problem with the head I had supplied him when in fact I have proved that it was the way he had set it up and then theres the carboard gasket this is why I am still on very good terms with darren as he has gone out of his way and helped me out. Chris lets put it this way all your are going to be seeing of me at the pod is the arse end of my car and the stinking flames that now exit the exhuast LOL should be a good day cant wait :D

My mate had a set of koni adjustables on his mk2 gti the fronts started leaking after 2 months so he had them replaced under warranty and then 4 months later they started leaking again so he ditched tem and bought avo adjustables which he was more than happy with. I would have thought KONI would have cottoned onto this problem and replace the seals with higher quality ones as it must be costing them a fortune doing them under warranty all the time. Take them back to the garage who supplied them and get the offending item replaced FOC under warranty

First of all there is a big difference between a compressed gasket made from a high quality single layer gasket paper tested to withstand the temperatures that a forced induction car can produce rather than a remanufactured carboard box which is multi layer and absorbs moisture and breaks down after time.. Secondly the car was there for a whole week so there should have been plenty of time to get a genuine gasket or an adequate gasket for the job even something like rhodaseal instant gasket which is designed to take the heat and protect from oil and grease contamination would have been better than the German and sweedish box that was put in it's place These are just my opinions and no one has to listen if they dont want to but for the money that was layed out I dont expect to find less than second rate parts used to perform the task.

Rams is right it is the sensor that reads the ambient temp on the MFA doesnt make any difference whatsoever to the running of the car as it isn't an ecu controlled sensor

Ok the worst car I have ever owned was a Triumph acclaim which was my first car ( by the way this wasn't out of choice :D ) About the only good thing about it was that it only had 19,000m on the clock when it was given to me. I kept it for a year before I got into the VW scene and bought myself a Golf GTI. I kept trying to make the blo*dy thing go bang so I could have an excuse to buy a new car but the flipping thing would just not die, I remember knocking it from 5th to 2nd at 80mph hoping that would do the trick but it didn't do the job unfortunately. Two months after I eventually sold it the person who bought it had the cambelt snap on him causing the engine to blow LOL nice to see my hard work payed off in the end

Ok Funky the post has now been edited so there shouldn't be a problem now I was just getting my point of view across but if people dont want to hear anything bad said then fine let people find out for themselves. It's been a long day and I'm a little pissed off so I shall call it a day!! Banana man

After the quality bad boy charger rebuild I got from G-Werks @ 3000rpm I get 13 psi and at 6000rpm I have seen 16psi but then belt slip takes over the difference it has made is unbelievable just last week I did the check and at 3000rpm it was only reading 6psi and at 6000rpm I was lucky to get 10psi the response from the acceleration is absolutely awesome cant wait to get the front mount intercooler as this will help even more I recomend G-Werks 100% nice one Daz it put the :D back onto my face after a rough couple of months of corrado ownership
