Yea when the Garage guys says it needs a new one how bad is it? Mine was slightly chewed but i fitted a new Crank pully and DX Bolt and its been fine ever since, well worth taking it down to Steve though I have never met him, I have a stack of C+R receipts from the PO of my car and he has a top reputation on here. Best of luck and keep us informed Cheers Dan
-
Yep exactly how mine was but it went from running fine to loosing power and stalling in about 500 meters and after that it wouldnt start at all because the timing was so far out, it was the first time I had ever attempted anything more complcated than changing the oil and filter on my car so it's really not that hard to sort  Any garage worth their salt should be able to check the timing marks line up or not and once identifed the will need to remove the Crank pully and replace with a new one and a MK1 dx Bolt and Washer (have a search on here for more info on this) Best of luck :-) Dan
-
Sounds exactly like the symptoms mine showed when the crank bolt worked loose get them to check the timing make sure all the marks line up, not too bad a job you should just need a new crank pully a DX bolt and washer (as long as the loose pully has not dammaged the end of the crank)

I would be wary tbh we all know what robbing :censored: insurance companies are, and if the worst does happen you dont want to give em the chance to wriggle out of a pay out!

The MOT will always come down to the indvidual guy doing the testing at the end of the day if the guy is a cnut or just having a bad day its going to cost ya, if on the other hand if you have a friendly tester that offers to stuff his emmissions pipe up another cars exhaust to get you through the test then its happy days! It sucks but then the only way your getting around it is to move away and register your car in another country
-
Have you had the co set with a widband? iirc the CO pot should be set to run at 14.5-15 AFR at idel to pass emmitions and for economy, if not you are probably looking at a new Cat

got round to fitting my new hose pipe today so I could wash the car, had Two neighbours come out for a chat and a nose round the car while I was cleaning. And one one random guy who stopped and reversed back just so he could take a pic on his phone  Been living in this house for over a year now and not spoken to the neighbours once till today lol

 we have all been there dude mine was also in the rain when it conked out on the drive, went to pop the bonnet and the cable snapped! :censored: I may have lost it slightly in fact I threw my keys down the road and kicked my wheely bin over... Had to go say sorry to my neighbour with the young children :nono: and then spent 20mins trying to find my keys in the rain.

Unfortunatly you might be out of luck there mate, obviously by ideal car you mean a G60 8) and they only came with the early interior.

Sorry Dave I have no idea but have to say Tylers post was the funiest thing I have seen all day

Not sure if I know what the Euro look is? But if its what ze Germans and French had done to their cars at the 20 year meet in Nurburg then absoutly not!

Hey Henk, I moved over here for a job early last year, been very very lucky as I love this job! And The Netherlands, so why did you move to the UK? :cuckoo: I have done my first 60 hours of Neaderlands voor beginers so I know the grammer (past, presant and future tense etc) but I just dont know enough words to have a proper conversation yet, cant wait to not getting mistaken for a tourist when I go out! lol And yes everyone at work killed themselves laughing at my old plates when I used to leave it in the car park at work  was very glad to get my Dutch 09 plates on to shut them all up. Cheers Dan
-
Coming from you mate that is quite a complement!! 8) it does look so much better than when I first got her and now there is only one small parking dent, some over spray and a few runs to get rid of before the bodywork is sorted  The Netherlands is great mate dont know why I didnt move here years ago!? So hows the US treating you?
-
theoretically you could get away with it untill they pulled you for a traffic offence I guess, judging by the number of non UK registered cars running round the UK there doesnt appear to be any Law that if you live in the UK you must register your car and put it through the MOT!! unlike here in Holland. Sorry but this used to really **** me off the time I spent living in Southampton, if you're living in the UK your car should be subject to the same rules as the rest of us! Someone please correct me if there is a law but its just not enforced?? As the police are too busy pulling us tax paying and legal motorists? :censored: Sorry rant over... And thanks for the comment :-)

Been and done mate 8) 'popped' out for a 3 hour run to the nearest Autobahn and back the day the insurance and plates came through  the plates are proper metal too and of course there is no Tax Disk to spoil the nice clean look of the windscreen, couldnt be happier with it tbh (as long as I ignore the overspray and paint runs you can see if you look close!
-
Looks great mate 8) some really good effort gone in there you must be well chuffed! It doesnt look like I'm going to be able to get across until at least the middle of the month but will keep ya posted. did you see the new pics of mine I posted in my thread with the Dutch plates on? Looks quite sweet too imo (and of course I wont need to worry about speed cameras when I do come over  )

Fitted my Dutch License plates and was delighted to find that fully comp insurance only cost me 200 Euros  viewtopic.php?f=11&t=58968

:D Can you drop me a text about what meat you require for tomorrow? Ride is chuffing firm though. :( I softened the Konis a bit more this afternoon after hitting a bump at 40 which nearly caused my spine to collapse. Need to remove the masking tape from the bump strips and side repeater, looks silly in the pictures, but I keep forgetting... I was just about to post up to say how the side strips look really good colour coded
-
Looking good though dude :-) wont be long now!!

Time for a Netherlands update 8) now my new plates have arrived I fitted them today and went for a short drive  every bit as much fun as always!! Got to love Dutch insurace too I'm fully comp for less than 200 Euros, Dutch insurance companies are restricted by law from attempting to chage you more for having a 'modified' car, as long as it passes the APK (MOT equivalent) the insurance cost is based on your age the cost of the car and if you have made a claim before. Tax is a bit pricy at 84 Euros for three months but I'm just so pleased to be legal now :D So enjoy the pics Dan

Is there no end to the remix potential of Florence And The Machine!!?? Rabbit Heart: Also loving Funkstörung – Appetite for Disctruction (for those with Spotify!) http://open.spotify.com/album/5iB3JoWpQnbErTmpzSePbt

Keep the faith dude :) just think how much you will enjoy it when the beast is back on the road! I have to come back shortly to sort a few bits on the house and vet a new tennant so hopefully will be around to help you fit some of that list.

Thanks for the responses chaps, sorry I never got back with the levels I've been away with work. Good news is though I got back yesterday to a call from the garage and she is all fixed and ready to be registered in Holland  They changed the CAT and Lambda so the emmissions are now bang on, and it was much cheaper than I thought, the CAT was 235 Euros and the Lambda was 95 Euros 8) Cheers Dan
-
Well word from the garage was between 700 to 1000 Euros depending on if he needs to change the CAT and the Lambda probe :-( but it is a fairly hefty list of stuff to fix and he thinks 6 hours of labour (he obviously never worked on a raddo before  )
-
Nice one thanks guys :-) just dropped it off at the garage so will see what the damage is at 5:00...
