Jesus... 'He was fined £175 after being found guilty of wilfully obstructing a police officer in the course of her duties.' And the police wonder why no one respects them :cuckoo: way to gain public trust.. Anyone remember this classic 'Two police officers who crashed a high-performance car seized from a suspected drink-driver could face prosecution.' Did they fu$% as like! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ma ... r-11187747

Check all your vac pipes for air leaks, the most likely culprit is the one that runs from the ISV to the towards the engine when the rubber ISV holder breaks (as they always do!) this pipe supports the weight of the ISV and over time splits along the top. Cheers Dan

Agreed I didn't realise Dot 5 was silicone based and this section: 'However, silicone fluid is a poor lubricant and does not lubricate ABS pumps as well as PAG fluids. It is also more compressible than PAG fluids, which can result in a sluggish or spongy pedal. It therefore requires special design considerations in braking systems. Further, because it does not absorb water, any water remains as globules, which can pool in low spots in the system and cause corrosion. This water can vaporise when heated under heavy braking giving a disastrous effect on braking efficiency. DOT5 fluids are not recommended for motor sport applications.' Must mean it cant be recommended for use with 20 year old ABS technology in use on our Corrado's? Important point here I would say as I'm sure I have seen posts recommending it's use on here.

I know you said all the lights are off but... Did you double check the boot light? This is what killed my battery recently and in fact it's still disconnected.

there is supposed to be a largeish rubber bush thing screwed into the back of your head unit that fits into that hole to support the back of the unit.

So got stuck behind this massive boner in a BMW X5 who couldn't work the hotel security gate this morning, instead of pulling back and letting everyone out the peni5 just gets out and walks to reception to get them to open the barrier... Anyway once he was out of the way I might have floored it a little and suddenly my engine starts screaming and the idle was hunting between 1 and 1.5k :gag: looks like I blew my idle screw out doh! So anyone know if there still available from VW and a part# if possible? Cheers Dan

I know the pipe you mean fella and I share your pain... Its a complete tw8t to get on with everything in the way, if I had to do it again I would remove the front end of the car to get access, its a very tight fit but should fit if you have the correct kit, did you compare the bore size of the old and new pipe to check its correct?
-
sounds like a timing issue to me, have you checked the marks to make sure everything is lined up correctly?
-
cant remember if its the same on the C but on my old mk2 I put it under one of the bolts that hold the boot locking mech down, nice and tidy and no removing cards or carpet simples :)
-
stick with it mate :) as you find and fix these things properly it will get easier, one thing I always do if I'm taking something off is replace the bolts/screws with new from VW they only cost pennies and make it much easier for 'next time' the first time I replaced the cambelt was a nightmare every single hex bolt was rounded or frozen solid but new bolts (and some copper ease grease) mean every time since has been a dream! Spoiler motor cleaning and repair
DanVW replied to dragon green's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
This was one of the jobs I had to do a while back, I took loads of pics but never got round to making the write up good work mate! :salute: one thing worth mentioning is that the motor is exactly the same one used on the VR6 as the aux water pump I have rebuilt a few now, giving a new lease of life to tired motors! Cheers Dan -
Thats :luvlove: great work mate! :salute: I'm back over for work from the 1st to the 3rd of Nov, going to be staying at the Solent hotel if you fancy hooking up? I want to see her in the metal and have a catch up!

g60 chip/pulley fitting & charger service intervals
DanVW replied to vagingit.co.uk's topic in Engine Bay
Sorry mate I didnt read your post properly, I thought you wanted to change the small charger belt, no need to touch that if your just swapping out the pully and Aux belt, as domwells says the only real tricky part is getting the tensioner back on but a bit of weight on the end and you should be able to push it back on I have had mine on and off a few times by myself. Cheers Dan -
Great work mate! Looks amazing must have been wicked taking her out for that first run 8)

g60 chip/pulley fitting & charger service intervals
DanVW replied to vagingit.co.uk's topic in Engine Bay
I planed on changing this on mine but fell at the first hurdle of getting the charger pully off :-( no air tools means it wasnt coming off ended up leaving it till the charger was rebuilt, to be fair the small belt had been on there for 7 years and still looked in good condition although its recommended to change it once a year especialy if your running a smaller pully! You can always check its condition by removing the plastic housing on the top of the charger you can get a good look at the belt and should be able to spot any fraying/splits etc. Cheers Dan -
I like the next generation themed gui :salute:

Sorry for the thread-jack but corradog60stage4 did you notice much difference with the Anti-Lag code on the stg5 chip? because I haven't really noticed much difference but then I did have a 68mm pulley and rsr outlet etc fitted at the same time, the car absolutely flys now but I cant say I really noticed a throttle lag problem in the first place
-
didn't look like he would need recovery, I'm sure that would buff out
-
:-( I don't see any bolts or screws on mine, looks to be held in place with three flat topped plastic clips? Looks like the clip (#2 in the pic) needs to be pushed/pulled or lifted to allow the housing to slide out to the side. Dan

At long last!! Blissfull silence when turning the fan on just in time for winter too! an as the fan motor was only marginally more expensive than a tank full of petrol I cant see why I left this so long.. The only thing I have left to do is remove the intake grill and replace the seals between it and the chassis, anyone got some hints on how it comes off, I pushed pulled and levered but to no avail and I don't want to break any of the brittle plastic :( the bit I'm trying to get off is in the attached picture. I also discovered the ECU earth lead floating around unsecured after I had the ECU replaced by a well known garage on here.. Not impressed considering I also had to remove and refit the Boost hose they didn't fit properly either  Cheers Dan
-
Yea top tip when doing this job... Get new bots for the pulleys you have to remove, after 20 odd years of garages removing and refitting you will find most of the bolts will be rounded they are only cheap and will save you hours of sweat and hassle down the road 8)

Drop sns an email with the code that is written on the top of the chip, they will tell you exactly what your chip is programmed for. Simples :salute:

Only had good experiences with VW parts department here in Holland, and they speak English to avoid me ordering the wrong parts with my dodgy Dutch..

good work fella! Am really enjoying watching this come together 8)

you can wipe down the silver reflective bits too but DONT use any products on them! I ruined one of my foglights cleaning them with some glass cleaner... :gag: it took the silvering right off in one smooth move, that was an expensive mistake
