Car has been running fine for ages, untill tonight, i started it as normal and and din;t turn the key for long enough to turn the engine over, so i tried again and nothing, not a thing. I jump started it and it ran fine. stoped wouldn;t start. When i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump all the lights come on and dim whn the key is turned. But the starter doesn;t do anything, i have rocked it in different gears to see if its the bendicks stuff but nothing. Runs perfect once jump started Any idea's, all lights and everything work, could it be the battery? What else could it be and how do i go about sorting it out. oh and i replaced my starter switch about 3 months ago so i don;t think its that. Any help would be very greatfully recieved Beavisjem

Where is the best place to get hold of a standard 3 slat grill, mine has some of the tags and clips missing and will probably fly out the front if i brake to hard :-P I am going to get a de-badged in the future but just want a standard one. Do i need to go to the stealers? or can i get one from euro car parts etc... Cheers Beavisjem

I don;t know why but elephant.co.uk was the cheapest, don;t know why, woundn;t normally use them but it was cheap When i took out my policy in august i was 21 years old 2 years no claims 4 years driving Corrado G60 no mods TPFT £680 i was well chuffed as my mk2 golf driver before hand was £590 TPFT Elephant didn;t even ask for my alarm certificate :) BeavisJem -
good luck stevemac. I am pretty sure its an external leak aswell, i will be changing the front flange thing (cheers andycowuk) at the weekend, i am the same as stevemac, oil is fine and the water colour is fine so no leaking into each other. I will have to try the rad hose thing. Just given the car a jolly good wash, looking good 8) Steve if you find what your problem was then post it please, hopfully we can get a good list of "what to do if your loosing water" FAQ I will post my results Cheers for th responses BeavisJEm

I have a black 1992 G60 and i am using a bit of water. Its about 1/2 a litre every 1000 miles, is this alot, i fill to the max mark and then about 1000 miles later my water light comes on. I have replaced the expantion cap and no luck. There is slight sights or moisture below the waterway on the front of the block, my old golf leaked here and i just changed the rubber washer and it fixed it, could this be the culprit. Hope is not the head gasket :cry: performance, fuel econemy are perfect and i haven't used a drop of oil in 8000 miles. Can;t be dealing with big repairs, just had a £300 MOT :( Any advice, where do i start looking, where are the normal areas to loose water. Cheers for any help Beavisjem

cool i think i will do that thanks, i just went and filled it up and i got 8.1 gallons in it. and did 178 since the last fill up. Cheers for your help guys. What injector cleaner stuff should i use (should i use it) and if the lambada is messed up how much £££ are we looking at. BeavisJem

ok did my own calculating and i have worked out that i was getting about 22mpg on a run. I did 178 miles on £28.76 of optimax at 78.9p a litre. 2876p / 78.9p per litre = 36.5 litres 36.5 litres / 4.5 to get gallons = 8.1gallons 178miles / 8.1 = 21.97 Included in this journey was 135 miles on the motorway and 50 miles on dual carridgeway to the coast 60mph all the way. Hmmm i am starting to get worried. :( Anyone got any ideas BeavisJem P.s did i work out the mpg properly

Ok now i have just got in from a drive from Norwich to London where i live 135miles and on the mfa i got no more than 24.4 mpg :cry: , i didn't exceed 75mph and it was clear all the way. Whats wrong with my car? I even reset the mfa in mode 1 and again it started at 66 then 30 then it evened off at 24 mpg after about 3-4 mins. I have a standard 92 G60 with stage 4 charger and supersprint backbox. And i was using optimax. Only me in the car and no luggague. Should i start to get worried. Seems to drive ok. BeavisJem

I have a 1992 G60 black, 96000 miles, charger build 12000 miles ago. Now i don't know if its running slow or its just me getting used to the ride. I sees a bit bogged down in the low reves. If i am slowing down for a corner in second and floor it after the corner, it takes a bit to get going. I don't really want to drop into 1st. Just seems a bit sluggish in 2nd, it only when i get the revs high that it seems to perform. It needs an oil change but i wouldn't have thought it would be the oil slowing it down, its done 5000 miles on its current oil. I don't have a boost gague to check the boost, i have tried the mfa thing and couldn't really red line it to see maximum boost levels (i live in london) Is there any good places to get it checked out in west london, or is there a way i can check it. No obvious signs of a boost leak but i ahve no tools here (they are at home in norwich) so i can't really do anything. Anyone have any ideas? Do you know how to test your boost levels? 1. Start Motor 2. Move the MFA selector to "2" 3. Press and hold the MFA end button (keep holding) 4. Stop motor 5. Start Motor 6. Release the MFA end button. 7. Press the MFA End button one time. etc etc Anyways mine were about 550 - 590 idle 1640 just before redline in 3rd Couldn't rediline in 4th, no private road :roll: 1000 0 (Atmosphere- ala no boost, charger is bypassed) 1200 2.9 psi (Your charger is dead or big boost leak) 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is about dead or big boost leak) 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger needs new apex strips or big boost leak) 1800 11.6 psi (Great for stock pulley, Probably needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) 2000 14.5 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on stock charger) 2200 17.4 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger, hold on to your ass fast!!) Just wondering if this is a boost leak, i ahve a stage 4 charger and standard pulley. Personally i feel the car is a bit slugghish compared to when i got it, might just be placebo. Any help would be great cheers BeavisJem

Thank henny, i have checked it a couple of times to see if i was doing somthing stupid. I will have another check just in case. The anoying thing is i can't smell fried silicon, which is normally a good give a way to componets not working. :? Cheer for the help henny let me know how your doing. BeavisJem

hi there thanks for your reply, I brought the head unit off ebay last week and got it this morning. Now in the description it never said anything about it being faulty. My speaker are all fine in the car because i ahve been runnig a cheapo £5 stereo like a dream while i found one i liked. The guy had been unsing the head unit with seperate amps for the fronts and rears, there are 3 sets of pre outs ont he head unit as well as the normal speaker outs. The whole unit works fine except for the standard speaker outs. The pre's all work and the cd player and radio are fine etc etc, which leads me to believe that the power amp chip has blown as the pre amp is still working. The thing is i don't know what to do. I love the stereo and they are hard to find. I could send it back to the guy or press charges through ebay if he is going to be an arse, or i could get it fixed and get him to cough up the charges. I just need to know wheather it is the power amp chip thats died and how easy it is to get another one. I don't want to pull the head unit apart and go find a new chip to find out that thats not the problem. How much would it cost me to send it to a repairer and get a quote to get it fixed? Hmm i really love the stereo but should i get it fixed or should i return it. I'll go check out maplins and see what they say. BeavisJem
