  1. LOL no i use a Silver mondeo X reg with over 200000 miles on the clock
  2. OK finaly after doing 4 80 hour weeks as a taxi driver i can start doing some things to my car. :) 1992 Black G60 stage 4 charger, supersprint back box. Now first things first - FULL RESPRAY Not because its dodgy, but because there are some small dents and dings around the car and stonchips all over front and i want to get it looking like a new car. Now how crazy can you go with the respray, i was going to strip the car myself, buy new door seals and window seals, take the interior out and have the whole thing sprayed, door shuts and all. Any advice about this. I have a qote to do all the dings and dents and respray for about £900 cash with me taking the car apart and them preping the body. Next is CHIP PULLEY FPR and RED TOPS I have standard chip and pulley at the moment. I would like 65mm pulley _ How much to get this fitted along with the chip? (how much differnce between the 65 and 68 mm pulleys) Would i have to get the chip mapped to my specific car or are they just plug and play. Do i really need the red tops and 3.5 bar FPR to begin with or can i get them later. My super chager has 12000 miles on it since a stage 4 service so i think i will be able to not have a rebuild done quite yet. Any advice on this and how much would it cost to have fitted? can you do it yourself? where should i get it done? how long would it take to do? By me? By a pro? How do i check the intercooler is working, i ahve never looked at mine and some people say you can get stone damage? What am i looking for. Also I ahve warped one of my front brake disks, need a new set, got zimmerman ones on there at the mo, but was wondering if you guys could advise any others. Also want some clear light at the back, best place to get them? Got a new grill on the way. :) Need some advice on alloys, want 17" but not sure what looks good on a C, nothing to fancy. Any reccomendations All in all have about £2000 ish to spend on all of the above, might be able to streatch it further I'll leave it there for now Hope you guys can hand out some of your quality advice Cheers Beavisjem

  5. Bugger :( Will ahve a look at the weekend. Whats the best way to fix it? Beavisjem
  6. I had MOT about 2 months ago and the reason my car failed was because of a rear caliper not working on one side, i knew somthing was wrong because the car would roll on a hill with the handbrake fully on. Ok now they said they had replaced the handbrake cable (15 for cable £35 labour 1 hours labour) now my handbrake is being weird again, i am creeping down hills with it on and there is about an inch of play before the clicks start. Then you ahve to pull about 5 clicks and its on. What should i do about my cable? Could the garage really change the handbrake cables in an hour as i a think they didn't, don't you ahve to take out the center console when you change them, when i put my carpets in i couldn;t put the console in right because of a couple of lugs were broke so i modded it to fit, the thing is its still fine and that took ages to get it right, which makes me think they haven;t change the cables. Any ideas Beavisjem
  7. I know its a bit cheeky but i was wondering if anyone had a boost gague in ealing london to test my G60. This afternoon if poss. If not anywhere in norwich as i will be there tomorrow night. My car is still feeling sluggish. Done the usual, dizzy, rotor arm, leads and sparks. Might just need a tune up. Oh and that 1m long pipe for the eu, wheres best to get one. Beavisjem
  8. Just replace will go for a drive later and see if its done anything. Bevaisjem
  9. Mine is a bit dodgy, got a new one to replace it with (haven't done it yet), but my car has been running pretty bad for a while, rubbish fuel consumption, a bit gutless below 2k, but idles and starts perfectly everytime, could it be the sensor? What else should i check for smooth running. Charger done 20k ago. Oil change 300miles ago. Am going to do Dizzy and rotor tomorrow. Cheers for any advice. Beavisjem
  10. Oh and how much are the tappets? BevaisJEm
  11. Hi guys wondering if youc an help, i have notices a tapping noise, seems to be coming from the top of the block, i am assuming is a lazy tappet. It increases with engine revs. I taps even when warm, it seems to be one over the 4th cylinder, or that side of the engine. I ahve checked the oils and its full now, It was on 3/4 and since topping it up it ahs been quieter, but you can still hear it. Will driving it like it is ruin my engine, i am unable to do anything for a couple of days because i am again in london with no tools. I need to do about another 300 miles in it. WIll it ruin myu engine if i carry on. Performance, fuel consumption and everything else are all normal, oil and water are fine. The only thing i can think is the oil might be old, had it in there 8 months and done 8000 miles. Its mobil 1, Any advice please Beavisjem

H reg dark corrado, you flashed and i waved. Crap drives in norfolk....tell me about it, any chance of an indicator at a roundabout. Nope not a chance. Might see you about this weekend BeavisJEm
  16. cheers guys thanks for the help, will be changing tonight. BeavisJem :)
  17. ah, ok cheers guys, do you think i could take it off while the flange is still in the car. Only i ahve to drive to norwich from london and i ahve no tools with me. I can get the clip off but might not be able to pull it out. It seems to be running fine and fuel economy hasn;t changed. Maybe its still working, will change it when i get home. CHeers guys
  18. I replaced the front flange on the engine block (the waterway into the front of the engine) to stop my coolant leak. When i had to take the 2 sensors out of the old flange i messed up the blue one a bit, it was stuck in real tight. It came apart, there is a spring in it, got it back together ok and the car is fine, no problmes. Anyone know what thins sensor is, and what the other one is. Cheers, how much are they? Beavisjem
  19. WOOOOOHOOOOO :D :D :D It works, i hadn't done the nut ont he starter tight enough  Thanks for all your help guys, got it all sorted. Thank you thank you Beavisjem
  20. Put a starter motor in and it just clicks AHHHHHHHHHH What now Battery? Beavisjem
  21. hello, ok update I have changed the battery - no joy nothing. I have cleaned up the earth strap and also did the jump between the battery and gearbox - No joy - nothing Hit starter with hammer - Nothing Have checked ignition swith - Works great 8) Checked clip on side of starter motor (red with black stripe) - 0v at rest and 12.36v when key is in the ignition position. Checked another clip around the starter area - 12v when key is in the drive position :-P Cleaned up the wireds on the side of the starter motor - Looks clean OK so i think it might be the STARTER MOTOR  Now i can get another one from a place that has them in stock in norwich  £116  but they will test the old one if i take it in :) OK HOW THE HELL DO I GET TO THE LAST BOLT OK looking at the starter, i can undo the two long bolts but i can;t get any tool into the gap to get the little on on the solinoid bit of the starter. It looks like i am going to have to take the radiator fan out. Is ther an easier way to get the starter out, i have supported the gearbox and the two long bolts came out a treat., but just can;t get to the last one. I also took off the boost pipe from the charger to the intercooler and it was a bit grubby, a little oily but not lots, should i be worried :( OK if anyone can help me i would be greatful. Afraid can;t realy do an engine out job, as i know this would make it very easy. Any other things it could be? Thanks again Beavisjem
  22. checked the earth strap, looks ok, gave it a wiggle, no joy, just put the battery on to charge till i can get a multimeter. Hopefully its the battery. How very annoying. Beavisjem
  23. Ok well i got a click today in the engine bay when i just started it, sounded like the starter was about to go but then it didn;t, and then every time after that it did nothing, i could be the battery. if the earth strap was dodgy would it still let the lights and evrything come on, and start from a jump start. Can an earth strap really effect it that much. Ahh multi meter is buggered  lent it to a friend Oh well, can i check the earth straps, where would they be, and can i do a quick fix Beavisjem
  24. when i turn the key the dash dims slightly but this is normal, the alarm still sets fine. Now going to go check if it will start on its own this morning, i accidently drained the battery from leaving my stereo on about 2 weeks ago but i wouldn;t have thought this would knacker the battery, and haven't really driven it a long distance to charge it up. Just seems odd how it just does nothing. I hear the fuel pump whuring when i turn the key but nothing else, no relays in the engine back (apart from the fuel related stuff) I thought the starter would get progressively worse, but i don;t hear it even try, will get the multimeter out and give it a check, doh how stupid was i, i even changed a starter motor on my previous golf doh  i now know where i am looking. Cheers will let you know Beavisjem
  25. ok cool, but i would have thought the ignition switch would have lasted longer, changed it 3 months ago, i do start it manyl times a day everday,, last time it went it got progressively worst before stopping. Is the starter motor the thing between the engine and the supercharger, there are 2 wires a bit red one and a small blue one, is it the red one i check for 12 volts. Cheers Beavisjem
