  1. Nice build,I was going to do 16v turbo build but parts getting hard to get hold of over here without paying a fortune. Everyone snubs the 1.8t now cause they're bored of hearing of them but they're the most reliable engine to tune without spending stupid amounts of money And that's not because I just have one.....
  2. I put some old heat shield cloth from a passat (any vw really)around the pipe to reduce the amount of heat it gets.had no probs after that. But I the spring clips were actually part of a safety recall so change them!
  3. Fuel pressure cut off switch hose. That pipe alone has killed many g60s.if the pipe has very small cracks or brittle, change it immediately. All 3 of my g60s leaked at this pipe.grab some new fuel hose cut same length and go to VW and get updated spring clips for hose. Few pence each. I reckon its been blanked off because its leaking and previous owner couldn't get new hose cause their obsolete.£5 for hose at halfords would sorted that and £1 at VW for two spring clips.
  4. Pin 3 r/y ecu harness is switched live from ecu goes to fuel pump relay g1/3 low current side .test with multi meter voltage at terminal 85 on the fuel pump relay housing to earthing point. Voltage means ecu is doing its job, look at fuel pump wiring/relay/pump.No voltage, continuity test from that terminal to ecu harness plug pin 3.if good, check power to ecu. Easy way to check if ecu is working is to take king lead off the dizzy and put it close to an earthing point and turn engine over.should spark. Coil won't discharge if ecu isn't powered up Does sound like ecu relay isn't working
  5. Police can't see a rebore or internal mods but if your in a bad accident your insurance may send it to at investigation center where they take your engine apart and check tolerances. Then they will refuse to pay claim and bill you for taking Your engine apart! That's one big bill! If the rebore is within factory spec they don't bother but anything over is classed as a mod. G60 is 81mm bore so anything over 82mm is classed as a mod. I have a buddy in allianz in Germany who explained how insurance works in Germany, which isn't far off uk type. Car x(in your case VW corrado) has total X amount of claims over X amount of years. A risk assement is made for type of car it is,average payout and who is driving it(Mr X with 5 years NCB with 10 years full driving license which in Germany is done by %.you start at 300% working your way down to 12% after lot of years.) They plug this into big equation. They work in how much money they can make against risk equation answer and that is your premium. Newer cars with very little claims will be cheap compared to high risk car in short. I have third party fire and thieft on my one which I have declared all mods even though half they don't care about.they didn't raise the premium because the car risk is still in the same category and they don't have to pay out for my car if I crash it.other person crashes into me,they pay depending on % fault.that where legal protection comes in that I pay extra that fights legally for me.So I tell them when and where I crashed and who into, they deal with the rest,Easy! Bit long winded but it though id share some input. To me if you get pulled over because you have loud exhaust and go-faster kit and stripes is because your just drawing attention to yourself so deserve to be pulled over.its all about stealth! If your legal you don't have anything to hide you should be willing to show your insurance details so they can't do you for anything!
  6. The in tank pump hole is larger on g60 single pump type I believe so I don't think it'll work unless you get a g60 fuel tank. What 20v you using? Heard people using 16v twin pump on lower powered 20v without any problems as excess pressure is bled off by the fpr but there is debate on how much it flows. As the 16v pumps are getting old now it would be best to replace it with a more updated one. G60 or vr6 pump in g60 tank is your best bet as they have the added bonus of having a swirl pot incorporated. My g60 is still good and I'm running close to 300 bhp mark
  7. Put a finger on the 167 relay and turn ignition on.it will click as pump primes.no click, check the relay or lift the carpet in the booth and listen for the pump.no pump,no fuel ---------- Post added at 1:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 1:40 AM ---------- PS your missing your ecu relay :thumb right: Should be relay 109 goes in position 3
  8. Yours is obd 1 right? So it has a dizzy on the side of the head? In that case it I don't think it used a crank sensor, I thought the dizzy has a hall sender trigger for spark. Obd2 uses coil pack which uses crank angle right? Plug both sides of the hose and manifold and the car will should start, just won't idle good especially when warm.the fuel pump should prime for a second when you turn the key so if you can't hear it check the relay.other than that the ecu relay is the only one you should check and wiring in the engine bay

Their is a difference, look at my mk3 diesel gear thread and you'll see the difference http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?58538-The-MK3-Diesel-Gearbox-Thread&highlight=diesel+gearbox+thread
  10. You can get software that deletes the isv but the hole in the manifold should have been plugged up if it had it installed.
  11. That's the oil breather isn't it? Isv should be beside the tb
  12. As tony said I'd say it was the isv plug too! But where is the isv? Isn't the isv supposed to be attached to the throttle body?.I see the hose attachment to the tb under the throttle cable but no is attached.I don't know vr6 engines really but I know g60s won't start without the isv connected and defo won't start if its missing
  13. Welcome to the German post system, extremely slow and expensive.slower than royal mail. Took me two weeks to receive an exhaust that the warehouse was 150 km away from where I live in germany! You guys have to understand German worker mentality, they're slow and by the book but at least you do get a quality part rather than rushed crap!
  14. Nice build my man, 3" straight through is Mega loud though, cops may be a little annoyed and you might want to carry some ear deafs if your doing more than a 20 mile trip. Can't believe the size difference in runner lengths in the exhaust Mani, number 1 is 3 times longer than number 6! At least its cast and space saving.
  15. Your right there Willie, nice quals you have too! I'm the SHEF at my place and have never really heard of carcinogenic fire extinguishers, heard lots on ozone depleting ones which have been taken out of service like halon was replaced with A.F.F.F I've set a 3kg powder off in my building before by accident while doing my monthly inspections, powder goes everywhere! Found it difficult to breath when suspended in the air as it happened so must work well in high concentration on localized fire. Perfectly honest as its an ABC cat is best for a car fire as damage has already occurred to your car,you don't care as long as it doesn't spread. I know about this because I've had a corrado die in a fire so been there done that! Anyone have any thoughts on using a mk3 cable as they'll still be available? Not checked mine yet but will do.What cable thickness is it again?
  16. Sounds like gearbox bearings are kaput, both 1st and 5th would be the input shaft bearings as there on opposite ends. First gear might have stripped due to excessive backlash on the teeth because of play in the bearings. Individual teeth damage cause a 'click' in certain gears
  17. I'm in Canada at the moment mate,I hear you! "Only" -16 at the moment. Have a good new year mate!
  18. Gti forum? Same one I used. The vss your talking about the sender where the speedo cable goes on the gearbox? I haven't ever seen the harness for electrical speedo on old raddos, must have been from 91 onwards. Can anyone clarify if it was just a separate harness add-on like the cruise control was or was the whole loom different
  19. Nice shiny new kit there Adam, shouldn't you be taking pictures of them on the car instead of been in the box!
  20. Get the ecu de-coded.it makes life so much easier, believe me! Can't remember who does it but its about £50 and saves you so much work. I got my rpm counter working with a digital to analogue convertor but it causes problems with the cluster. I keep my original cluster as its cable driven but it still has the vss internal in the cluster so you can tap the signal for ecu to use
  21. Which engine? 16v fits 16v early model raddos as far as I know.don't know about later ones
  22. Nice to see some great engineering work my man! Keep it up and hope it works well for you!
  23. Does sound like it just needs bleeding. Start at the master cylinder, then the slave. You'd be surprised how many people do it the wrong way around first!
  24. Haha,I had one of these units in my old raddo. Was a bit temperamental at times, think vacuum pump was on the way out. Never seen one in rhd one though.thought because the accelerator was on right tight against the bulkhead there was a different pedal box. You could adapt it but there's very little room. The valves in the clutch and brake pedal release the vacuum disengage the cruise control. Feels freeky the first few times you use it when the accel pedal starts doing its own thing
