  1. One for Kev and Dave I think, my car has developed a fault where it loses power for a second or two, usually at low speed, second or third gear. It has literally just started in the last few days, but I went out for a good blat today, and it didnt do it. I've not got access to VAG-COM till next weekend. The only time I can liken it to is when my MAF failed and the ECU when to fail safe mode, it's just not as bad, annoying though, and probably the start of a permanate problem. 8 psi vortech, otherwise boggo standard.
  2. Thanks diggerbucket. would a usual motor factors sell them?
  3. are you planing to buy the c off the insurance company and break it? Scavenging...
  4. I had to pull the plastic arches off my Mk1 Golf in order to carry out the repairs to the sills and floors. They seem to have been bonded on with some black mastic, like the stuff used for windscreens. (?) I cant say I have ever seen it for sale anywhere, do you think no-nails would work? There are also a couple of screws which hold them on at the bases. ta.
  5. Spoke to VW parts, said the part numbers for a head on a 94 Corrado were the same as a 94 and 97 Golf VR. Sound. :D
  6. I know this will have been covered before, but are 2.8 and 2.9 heads interchangable? My first thought would be no, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I did search, but I must of read through 30 pages before giving up. Thank you.
  7. Ring VW and ask. They probably wont give you the part numbers but will tell you if they are differnet. Then ask for a price to scare yourself.
  8. Woo hoo!! C passed, needed lights adjusting, a bulb, new horn and thats it! Emissions were spot on, in fact a fair bit below the limits, surprised considering the oil stem seals are worn to hell, it smokes on start up and when booting and my map from Stealth left it running rich, not bad for a supercharged motor with nearly 130k on it. :D It was serviced aswell - well it had an oil and filter change, do these myself normally but I wanted a stamp in the book.. Mk1's booked back in on saturday!
  9. still waiting.... cant really afford to shell out any more dollarthis month! fingers crossed!
  10. I must be mad, my Mk 1 Golf went in for an MOT this morning, failed, rear brakes, bit of welding.... :( Sorted already though! yay! But as we speak my C is in for its MOT, smokey, running rich, probably shagged cat C :( . Expensive and stressful day. Still it helps having a mate who can weld! Mk 1 on the ramps earlier.
  11. I'd much rather have this one: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/158812.htm
  12. Really not my cup of tea, but fair play all the same. Must be fun trying to hold onto the wheel with that much power. :?
  13. Thanks, just on the look out now for a lil fluffy tail.....
  14. Not sure about the front end... side/rear shot looks nice though, I must admit I'm not a fan of Rover's/MG's, mainly due to quality issues.
  15. Gonna be a busy boy this week Rob, should improve the ride quality nicely, good luck with the MOT, found a 'charger yet?
  16. Cool write up thread Kev, but can you please stop tempting me to go turbo!!
  17. Thanks for the run out in the VRT Dave, awesome, if I wasnt so skint at the moment I think i would have come home and got striaght on the bay buying turbo bits! I'm going to see how much power I can extract from the V9 before going turbo, may even go R32 with the V9, that'll show you!! No really, hats off for doing all that work yourself.
  18. As my car is now starting to smoke, on starting after being sat for sometime and now on the over-run its time to do a rebuild. Has anyone got experience with buying stock engine parts from the states? RS VR6 Posted up a link a while ago to an American firm who sell OE parts much cheaper than we can get them from here (FourSeasonTuning.com) I'll be going for tappets ($130), head set ($110) and a set of rings ($160) Total $400 so thats £203.25, ring your local dealers and price this lot up, £21 + vat per tappet to start with so thats already more expensive than the lot from the states. Is there anywhere in the U.K that can sell OE quality parts at these prices? I'm not going to consider going to GSF or ECP for internal engine parts. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, and for those who are wondering why no head bolts, I'm going for a set of ARP which I'll probably be sourcing from the states aswell. Thanks.
  19. Volvo garage eh...? £3.80 sounds god, I had a look on the bay and someone was selling pairs for £10!! Its a good job I didnt catch them getting half inched, wouldnt fancy picking up their dental bill... head would be just the right height for a good kick! I'd like to point out now I'm not a violent person. Only when it come to thieving, pikey, chav, waste of space, good for nothing gob sh*tes stealing... rant over.
  20. I feel violated, someone has already pinched my sexy BBS dust caps..... Been on the car a week.
  21. About time Charlie! Pic's look cool. I hope I'll be seeing the beast in a couple of weeks time, getting used to the 'charger whine?
  22. i did wonder how long it would take you to post a reply on this one Rob! Very nice looking 'raddo zak, RH's look 8) as.
