Thanks lads, had a fair but of experinece with cars, but only servicing and wheel bearings, nothing like this before! Couple of probs though, got a leak on the water flange!! and I cant find the top rad support bracket, took it for a little spin earlier, felt good but couldnt take rev's too high, plus the trackings out and one tyres on 20psi as used it to bleed new hydrauluic clutch. Loving the noise (not a idle though) and my new super light clutch! :D Will be all sorted by tonight ready for Stealth on tuesday, they are fitting the red tops for me. Cant wait for the drive home!

VR6 Cooling questions (Major Breakthrough - Last Page )
ziderapple replied to Goldie's topic in Engine Bay
70ºC Thermostat. Optimises water temperature for maximum power output. Used extensively in competition engines. A simple solution to those power-sapping engine-bay temperatures that accompany the standard factory set-up. Every VR6 should have one! £15.00 http://dubpower.co.uk/VR6%20parts.HTM -

She's alive!! I've not 100% finished but it was starting to get dark yesterday so thought sod it, took the car of the axle stands and fired her up, and all ok, plus I cant believe how light my clutch is now! I just need to put the lights, and grill back on and give it a good wash. Was a little surprised at how much noise the charger makes even at idle, looking forward to hearing it at full chat now! Feeling a little chuffed with myself :D

It looks like a dog and obviously not a Rivage (whats a Rivage without the cream leather and leccy windows?!)

ah, so stormchaser if I said to you, P2..... or Hestia you'd say???

Does anyone know the belt length which is supplied with the Vf kit? V9 charger with 8psi pulley?? Thanks.

I work for British Gas, so spend a fair amount of time drving around, I'll look out for you/your car.

To be honest there have been a couple of moment's when I have thought oh s**t, it's never going to go back together again!! Not being a mechanic has made it quite time consuming, but I'm enjoying it and will be giving myself a modest pat on the back when its done. I just cant wait to drive it now and hear the 'charger!! Thanks for your comments guy's.

I bought three gallons of it today! I had the same conversation in GSF today, chap said thier supplier (VW?) just keep hiking up the price of Synta, so they are phasing it out. The Fuchs oil is made in Germany and conforms to the standards so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Well I have had to do a bit off runing around the last couple of days, but the gearbox is back on, new inner CV done, slave cylinder etc. pretty much everything back on bar coil pack, rad and front end, was slowed down today by the belt for the charger being too small! Bracket and idler for charger on, and sump done, just want to bolt up the charger and pipework, So should be up and running tomorow! Couple of pic's:

Your car always looks so damn clean Rob, I dont think you actually drive it at all, and that mark on the wheel was some freaky buffing accident oo-err... Seriously though, s**t luck mate, sorry.

Not a fan of VW mags then Kev?

I'm doing mine at the moment, but the parts from main stealers cost me around £440, I think a fair price for a garage to do the job is around the 750 mark (as they'd most likely get a better discount than my 2.5%!!). Do it yourself, there is a good guide in the knowledge base, with all the part numbers, one you take it apart its fairly obvious what needs doing (although I'll admit I had to seek help today) especially with the new parts in front of you. I suppose it depends on if you have the tools aswell though.

Anuskasv0 (4 hours ago) It's the new track record... in sucking ass! he he

Is this sad, I was in France last month and picked up a copy of their VW mag, and I cant read French?? I just wanted to look at the French trends, problem is its filled with VW's from Germany and Holland and thats it!! - including a very serious HGP twin turbo VR!

Check out part two of the VR6 timing chains replacement in the knowledge base - there is a guide on how to go about it there.

I used to have to drag my girlfriend along to the shows but now she really enjoys them, she was annoyed that we couldn't go to UD on sunday, I have just bought a MK1 Golf which she'll be driving, but I know I'll be doing the building/repairs/up-keep/mod's on it - but whats wrong with that? She wouldnt have a clue where to start. I like to see girls around at the shows, :norty: but most of them are probably there due to being taken, not wishing to go or going off their own steam, but obviously there are many exceptions to this. I dont think Golf+ has been the same since the new editor took over last year, shame, but I still prefer it to PVW.

stevef182, no I dont live in Clifton, but not far away, just the other side of the downs really. I'm in Clifton/Redland alot though due to work and am sure I have seen your car around, but saying that there are loads of Corrado's in Bristol!

herisites I've only turned it over with a socket on the crank bolt! Still got to bolt everything else back up, and fit the clutch and 'charger! I managed to borrow a cam locking tool and bently manual from my local vee dub garage - (thanks to Dave at P.C Motors) which made things much easier. Gonna call it a day now - got things to do this evening, so 'box will have to wait till tomorrow.
-
Woohoo! After a couple of wobbles, chains and tensioners are on, and I just turned the engine over and all ok!
-
Cheers Dave. I'll get my brother to help me lift it back on - hopefully by tonight, but I dont think I'll do one on my back again. I've always had Golfs before and they are much easier to work on - there is so much stuff on the VR, far too many wires for my liking! I think theres only about 18 wires on a Mk2 digi. Ah well. Back to it.
-
Hi is your Corrado usually parked in Clifton, just off Alma road?
-
In my experience you'll always do the wrong side first!! Unless your totally skint just get a garage to do it, unless you have the tools its a crap job and a garage should only charge an hours labour to do it - well I guess(?) as I've always done them myself, - skint.

Thought so, I just wasnt 100%.
