I agree with you on all of that Kev, except the use of the term "dubber", but if we all agreed on everything it'd be a bit boring! Riley to be honest I think you could of received alot more criticism than you have, coming on to a Corrado forum and slagging it right off and not expecting some abuse back is a little naive, also slagging of the G60 and VR6 engines as a true enthusiast is an odd stance to take, they weren’t solely used in C's and have received much praise over the years, plus the G60 engine is pretty much bullet proof, the only real weak link is the 'charger, still I'm not wanting to start an argument, like I said your MK1’s cool and can see you've put many an hour into that. The intention of this thread was to see if my thoughts that many Corrado owners view themselves as outsiders to the general VW scene… guess not.

In the bottom pic you can just make out a 15" RX2, immaculate set waiting to go on, would like some early BBS splits, Ronal turbo's or Schmidt's thou.

Think my Corrado has a contender for my affections!

Well picked I it up today, while it was on the blokes drive, I jacked it up, bolted up the split exhaust clamp and voila!! My brother and I had to tow it across Bristol but I had the engine running for the Servo assistance with the brakes, when I got it home I had a qucik go up a quiet road - it flies!! Gearbox is hardwork though, very notchy, would imagine that its a linkage issue though, it pulls and sounds good. Its a Mk1 Golf by the way, it does need a good service though, so will do the works including Cam belt, arm, cap and leads then she'll be a winner!! Thanks for the replies.

I'd get on the blower to NS racing or Vortech.

  blunt!

To be honest I'm picking it up tommorrow morning, only had it running on the chaps drive the other day, as it is SORN, and MOT less with siezed rear brakes, one thing is the clamping bracket from the manifold to exhaust is hanging off, could a lack of back pressure make it boggy? I've not driven it yet so can say how it feels, but it was enough for him to take the car off the road and let it sit, but it did get him the 20+ miles home with no probs thou. (I know it may sound daft buying a car I havnt driven, but I know its straight and I got it for silly money)
-
Ok, one for the valver guru's, I'm buying a car with a 16v k-jet lump in it, which runs, but is "boggy as hell", this starterd when the previous owner was racing a BMW at silly speeds 120+, he said all of a sudden the power just went, so I'm thinking it may have jumped a tooth, of possibly sucked some muck into the meetering head. What would your suggestions be? Thanks.

Well, bit of a mixed bag then! Riley, as you think the Corrado's build quality is so crap, will the price you advertise it at relect that? I've got £20 in my wallet if your interested? Look on the Club gti forum, plenty of people on there constantly posting up about faults with their Golf's, and same on most other car forums. I think you got a bad example, every car has its problems, plus I think one of the joy's of car ownership is the tinkering, and getting intimate with your cars workings, but if yours has had a constant stream of problems I can understand your frustration. That wasn’t a dig at Golf’s either, I've got a Mk1 now and have owned a few as previously stated, and I love 'em! I'm glad your a VAG man at heart, I really like your Mk1 as well, I've read a fair bit about it on the clubgti forum. I hope you enjoy your Lancer.

Or at least German!

I love this forum, I think it has a pretty good vibe, I have nothing against anyone who inst a dubber, I have owned non-VAG cars, vauxhalls and a Ford, like I said its hard to explain what I mean, but we're on here for a shared interest: the Coraado, which is cool with me. :D I'm just curious as to who, when the time comes to say goodbye to their C will be looking at anything and who will be thinking "well it's gotta be a dub or an Audi"
-
To be honest, I have been thinking ever since I joined this forum that a lot of the members are not really into their dubs. It seems many people on this forum view the Corrado as a performance car they want to own, for various reasons, but will quickly move onto other marques, especially jap motors. I suppose fair enough really, it’s a Corrado forum, not a VW only forum but being that I'm a true dubber through and through I just kind of resent it, when I say dubber I do include the VAG family, but my heart lies with pre '96 motors, with some exceptions (Veyron  ). Maybe its because I've only really ever owned dub's; 3 Mk1's, 3 Mk2's, my C, and 2 Beetles, but before internet forums became so prolific how many marques had real followings with clubs etc like VW? Well a fair few but...............argh!!! I know what I'm trying to say but can't really word it how I want. Does anyone catch my drift/feel the same?

51 plate, under 50k for less than 3.5K... They are cheap for a reason. If you really want an Alfa get a SZ! (I think the 'S' stands for sex)

sounds like a drive shaft to me.

Actually ignore this, just noticed I can get them in 7x17. Dumb ass. :cherry:

I'm looking at getting a set of alloys 8x17, the website gives a selction of tyre sizes to suit, but with 205's the profile is 50, I guess its because thats needed for the stretching, but does anyone know if it'll take 40 profiles?? The reason is I want to run eagle F1's but I can seem to find them in 205/50/17 size. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the matrix James, sure you'll have it sorted in no time though. -
UK Corrado mega meet time???
-
Thanks for the comments guy's and Tempest I thought the same after I posted, would love a mk1 'rocco too! I just love old dubs, I'm 23 and on my 7th now, will be plenty more to come aswell. The best thing about the mk1 is how much I paid for it.... Case of the bloke just wanted it gone, silly offer accepted!! :)

Shouldnt this be in drivetrain?
-
Loved it, but would have been nice to have a bit of car news in the middle, my missis pointed out that it would have been a crap day for the audience - especially when you consider the waiting time to get tickets for a show. The abuse the got for the cars 'decoration' was eye opening! Plus "Big Stig"
-
Golf, all day long.
-
True, always loved Mk1's and I'm really missing my old cabby at the mo,
-
To be fair it does need some work, but thats to expected, if you want a minty one your paying £2k plus. Basically its cosmetic interior stuff req, blowing on the exhaust manifold, needs a good clean and all the other things that come with a car thats been stood for 6 months ie. full service and a tune up. Well chuffed, have to lose the wheels though - 16's on a Mk1!!
-
Really shouldnt of bought it but couldnt resist, comes with a huge file full of history with tonnes of recipts, service book all old mot's and laminated photos of a bare metal respray done a few years ago, its also had a 16v transplant with four branch manny. Sorry about the crap photos.
