Awesome!

Well its being collected in the morning for the fianl work to get it running...... I'm already looking at turbo / sc kits for it :cuckoo:
-
Well its what I've done so far, I chucked a gallon in and checking the dip stick it seems spot on, but it'll be getting started this week without me being there to fuss over it so a definitive answer would be nice.

I'll give you £410 for them. :)

How much oil does the 2.8 24v take? with filter change. Cheers,
-
Hmmm, it is very close, but I'm hoping my VT mount will stop anything nasy happening, otherwise I'll have to invest in a 11" Spal fan. Think we'll have to organise a 24v get together. Its actually not been that bad so far, its taken alot longer than planned, all down to a few missing parts and some broken bits, plus having spent over 2 weeks out of the country and 3 weeks in Nottingham, I've not had the time. Broken bonnet release cable was a right pain in the arse, still its had alot of use over the last couple of years!

I'll pop over when its running. :)

Great thread, been thinking for ages someone with the knowledge should do a decent write up on the subject. So thank you. :salute: Also would it be worth copy and pasting the first post into a wiki guide?

Was thinking BMC actually. Will have to organise another meet at the Compass soon.

Here she is, in all her glory, booked in next week to have downpipe and wiring done, so next weekend, fingers crossed I'll finally be taking it out. Shorterned servo pipe - quite neat I thought. Finally got round to fitting my show plates, think they tidy it up, just need to apply the red tint film to the rear lights. Excuse cheapo air filter, want to have a better look around before buying a decent one - should do the job for now though. Getting really excited, plus its my 25th birthday next friday!!...... but I'm trying not to get too carried away, with the luck I've had I'm half expecting for something to go wrong. ........nah it'll be fine :D

Um.... what is Kern?

I work so much better when there is someone else there to talk to and lend a hand, no matter how small. Thermodynamic discussion whilst working on the rado.. hmmm, subject matter- entropy. Forgotten loads of it now, been having fun lately deriving formulae using non-dimensional analysis. Chris, glad yours is coming along, albeit slowly, any progress is good, to be honest the weather lately hasnt helped me much.

hoping the rado will be making an appearance soon, been off the road too bloody long now. just need some time at home without it pissing down to carry on, really is trivial stuff to finish now, like putting oil in it and refitting head lights and grille. Not a squareback :( No longer avaliable. Not an Audi, and certianly not an avant as I've already said its a hatch
-
Well, still not finished as I've had three weeks in Nottingham, and on sunday I fly to Germany for a week, so next couple of weeks isnt looking good for completetion - however saturday is reserved for finishing my work before exhaust......but I placed an order for a car today..... Okay, its a company car - but is legally mine due to the way our company runs the scheme. It's VAG. Is a hatch. 2.0l. 6 speed. 170bhp. 228 lb/ft. 18". Dual zone air con. :D

I dont believe anyone on here has thier Corrado for "Retro" reasons, rairity yes, but more to the fact that Corrado's are a fun, involving drive, and look good. I have got an 08 plate Passat at the moment and a before that I had a Mondeo ST, which was one of the last ones in which I covered 15k miles. Both nice cars, but they do nothing for me in terms of excitment. I'll be honest I wouldnt want to use my C as a daily for a few reasons but the main one is comfort - bearing in mind I do well over 35,000 miles a year for work. The thing is I'd never get up early on a sunday morning to go for a blast in my works car, or a mk4... I just prefer older cars and mostly old dubs. I will admit you need a balance though so if your C does break down alot and you have a long boring/slow drive to work then a newer motor is obviously more attractive, but if you still want to have a car you can enjoy do you really want a bland wagon? If you used the money you'd spend buying a new car on a half decent C, replacing worn parts, giving it good and regular services and upgrading some weak parts then continued to look after properly, it'll serve you well. What do you get with a newer car that you actually need? Nothing, yes luxuarys are nice, but I'd rather have a car that excites me and gets me browsing a forum all about it!! I dont really think prices will pick up again, cetainly not for some time now anyway. Cars are a money pit, when you buy a car you should expect to lose on it, not many cars appreciate or hold there value.

Cheers. :salute:

How do I open the bonnet with the catch not operating? I think I remember such a question being asked a while ago and a mod locked it but PM'd the answer. Thanks

I'm pretty sure its custom code who do the ecu defeating, you'll probably have to speak to them to discuss it. I'm having my ecu sorted by a guy who's doing my wiring here in Bristol, can ask if he can do yours if you like? You want to have the imobiliser removed - saves fitting the clocks and keys, and the lambdas downstream of the cats deleted.

Looks sweeeet! Nice to see a respray done properly and replacing all the worn bits makes a real difference! Just remeber when parking, park miles away from everyone else and buy a bonnet bra for motorway use! Think you should bring it over here for us to see, stick Edition38 in your diary, last weekend in Aug. :D

Looking good as always Rob. Glad its back on the road, looking forward to seeing it on sunday. On the cooling issue, I was told recently that its considered bad practice to use water injection as a primary method of cooling and it should only be used in conjunction with a FMIC/CC incase temps get too high. :? I had planned to use aquamist on my Vortech though.

Will get some more pic's up soon. The saturday it was supposed to be getting taken to have the downpipe sorted didnt go so well. The plastic cap that holds the oil filter in had been done up by the hulk, so broke when I tried to remove it, the plastic gear linkage retainer also got broken, it also pissed down all day which really didnt help, then the next day I went to Greece for a week, came back, and since I have been working in Nottingham, and will be there all this week too! I did get a chance to do some work on it today. I sorted out all the cooling hoses, extended the wire for the aux water pump, made a nice job of the servo hose, replaced the powersteering hose and fixed into place, got the driveshafts bolted up and put the front end back on. All I've got to do now is fill up with oil, water/coolant, power steering fluid and ship her out for downpipe and wiring. I am now aiming for the end of the month to have all the work completed as the tax is up now, so I will tax it ready for the 1st of may. My bonnet is now also closing fine without having to chop any of it away. I just need to get one last bit sorted, which is the breather from the rocker cover to the inlet pipe. Cant wait to take it for a spin!
